QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 2, 2014 -> 09:17 PM) Can somebody explain to me the horror that is Anthony Bennett? I mean wtf. This is worse than Kwame Brown, Olawacandi, etc. They used the #1 pick on a 'tweener that was expected to go around #8 in a terrible draft. It didn't help that he was out of shape to start the year and they didn't really have room for him in their frontcourt.

Bynum's contract is only partially guaranteed, so he can be waived at several different points over the next two years without using the amnesty clause.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 07:25 PM) Most people have seemingly suggested that wouldn't be enough to buy out his current deal, am I wrong on that? You're combining two issues that aren't necessarily related. By league rules, the Bulls can only contribute 550k towards the buyout. This money does not count against the salary cap. If there's an excessive buyout, Mirotic and/or his agent would have to come up with the difference. If Nikola feels that he needs an NBA salary higher than the MLE, that's the only way it would affect the amount of space needed. I'm not really familiar with his contract buyout or any demands that have been thrown around, so I can't really comment on that. If I recall correctly, he's making around $3 million a year, so while he's not broke (at least in theory), the MLE would still represent a solid raise.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) The draft happens before free agency can start. Once the draft happens, there will be a "cap hold" reflected in the amount of money the team could offer associated with the slotted amount for whatever draft pick the Bulls get. There's no trick around this. The Bulls can't re-up with Deng and bring Mirotic over unless they clear space elsewhere (beyond just removing Boozer) or Mirotic can be brought over for the MLE. The general assumption is that they'll use the MLE on him.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) Even Zoom can't defend that s***. I hope this team gets horsef***ed by LeBron and the Heat every year until I'm dead. #forever90's Relax dude, it's not even Christmas yet. I said that I don't want Deng back unless he signs for less than 10 mil (or I guess maybe a frontloaded deal that pays him like 12 now and 8 at the end). I won't freak out until they sign him though. I'm more worried that they'll be too cheap to amnesty Boozer and we're stuck with him for another year.I don't trust them to take advantage of his expiring deal and they need to start figuring out how good Mirotic is.

Wow, Anthony Davis surprisingly returning tonight.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) This Cavs and Blazers game was awesome. Lillard going 6th in last year's draft remains so silly. But the Cavs already had a point guard, so why would they want a lights out 3pt demon? Or they could have taken Andre Drummond and passed on the whole Andrew Bynum experience this year. Even assuming they're not that smart, Harrison Barnes was a fairly obvious pick and would be a much better fit than Waiters. Sacramento passed on all of those guys as well, but hey, Thomas Robinson is only on his third team already.

The Bulls have been really good at losing close games to bad teams.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) I have no problem with the catcher getting run over if they are blocking the plate. It is when the catcher is in front of the plate or barely covering it and the runner aims for the catcher instead of trying to score that I don't like. But if they are going to ban collisions, they had better start enforcing no blocking of the plate without the ball or runners are going to start coming in spikes up. This is how I feel as well. No problem with it as long as they consistently call it when the catcher blocks the plate.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) Please. They couldn't even beat that s***ty Philly team who's leading scorer was GOAT candidate Lou Williams. They should've at least won that series, even without Rose (and they had a 1-0 cushion). The Bulls were never built for the playoffs. Noah was out part of that series too and they won the next year without Rose or Deng. But since you ignore stuff that doesn't fit your narrative, I will no longer bother.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Zoom to the Bulls' FO rescue once again. And the FO will always be able to use that excuse and enough people out there will fall for it. Point is defense, rebounding and Rose was NEVER going to be enough. Just like defense, rebounding and LeBron wasn't enough in Cleveland. They had a top-10 offense the year Rose tore his ACL. We haven't seen anything near a full roster since then. It's not like Kevin Durant would be a Bull right now if the great Pat Riley were running the team. The Heat would look just as bad if LeBron were out and Wade inevitably broke down trying to be the man again.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) I still can't believe people thought this was a championship roster. Even healthy (which they never are and never will be), the depth at best is 7.5/8 - depending what you think of Hinrich. After Dunleavy, there's basically no 3-point shooting. You can't beat these specialized/advanced playoff defenses with one reliable 3-point shooter. I'm not gonna even get into all the other deficiencies. The FO built a nice little regular season juggernaut. That's it. Any plan is going to look like s*** when your star misses 2.5 years.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) lol. What a joke. The Knicks are pathetic. It's hilarious that neither New York team has their first round pick.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) That could be good for the tank the way he's playing. Lowest per since his rookie season and a pathetic ts% for a guy with no offensive game outside of 5 feet. I hope you're not being serious. He could play on one leg and be better than Nazr Mohammed.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Someone tell me why if they trade Deng this team wouldn't be god awful and get a top 5 pick? They've only been truly awful for about 5 games. They need to do it for 60 more to get top-5, and they're going to have Noah and Butler for most of them unlike the last two games.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) he's too busy writing floppy weiner songs. Stupid South Park. I can't hear the GOT theme anymore without singing it in my head.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) The Heat win is even more annoying now. It won't matter if they have to play the lineup they used tonight for extended periods.

Fantasy football advice thread
ZoomSlowik replied to DrunkBomber's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Good lord, was flipping around one of my leagues and noticed that this team went 5-8 and finished in 10th place... QB- Brady, Rivers and Big Ben WR- Demaryius, Hilton, Hartline and Burleson RB- Peterson, Moreno, Gore TE- Gonzalez, Reed and Housler K/D- whatever 2nd most points. That s*** is crazy, especially since my s***ty-ass team where I drafted Ray Rice, David Wilson, Roddy White and Lamar Miller in the first 4 rounds is in the semifinals. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) GoT is around as long as there is book material. They are catching up to the books quicker than they are being written They could EASILY keep going with other stuff in the same universe but not in the timeline of ASOIAF. There's just tons of history he's built into the series. You could start out with a season (maybe more) with the leadup to Robert's Rebellion, which would still feature some familiar characters. You also have major stuff you could focus on like the Blackfyre Rebellion, Aegon the Conquerer, The Long Night, the rise or fall of Valyria, plus a ton of other stuff I'm forgetting. The only problem with that is a lot of that would need input from George and he needs to FINISH THE f***ING BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bulls fielding a pretty tank-tacular lineup tonight.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Considering all the articles about how Rudy Gay hates the idea of advanced metrics being brought up, I'm not surprised some GMs are souring on him. Hell, he banned advanced metrics summaries from being distributed in the Toronto locker room after the game. I know he doesn't like to hear how he's not a good player and all, but if you're not looking to improve your deficiencies, you don't have the drive to be an all-star in the NBA. At MLE-level salary, you only need to be better than people like Landry Fields or John Salmons for it to make sense.
-
Geez, quote from a Zach Lowe article... I get not wanting his contract, but not even for the MLE? Unless you have Lebron, Durant, Melo or George, he's easily worth that risk, especially when you look at the kind of guys that frequently get more than that.
-
Random rant: how the hell is Denver 12-8? Their best player is Lawson (solid, but probably not an All-star out west) and their second best is....Faried? Chandler? I don't even know. I thought this would be a diaster season until Gallinari returned, instead they're pretty good.
-
I thought for sure that Gay would end up in Cleveland or Milwaukee. It's not like Sacto gave up anything useful...

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 7, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) 2-5 is pace for a 23 win season. You trade Deng and I can't the wins being much higher than 20 Once again, there's 5 teams on a worse pace than that so far, and they didn't get the above-.500 start the Bulls did. Not to mention if you have one 4-6 stretch (which is still bad), you pass like 5 more teams in the standings. EVERYONE sucks. Tanking talk just isn't realistic when they're still in the playoffs by 2 games at the moment, without Butler for the last few weeks. They could lose 10 in a row and still might not get passed by some of these teams.
