  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) I don't understand these people saying to hang onto Deng. I don't recall seeing anyone explicitly say we should keep Deng. I know I said deal hi m right after Derrick got hurt. No real point in keeping him since he's probably gone after this year anyways. Only way I'd keep him is if he signed for around 8 mil. Even then, trading him could bring better value. If Marcin Gortat can net a first, I would think Deng can.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Which suddenly sounds like a fairly good idea if it can be done. Eh. No one is trading for Rose right now, and it would take some pretty significant pick value to trade Noah for an expiring. Gibson maybe, though I doubt they do it.
  3. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) I hear you DA. Just to make it clear, there is no way Bulls are are going after any of the big FA's in summer of 2014, simply because they won't have the cap room correct? If they let Deng walk and used the amnesty on Boozer, they'd have around $10 mil to work with. However, around half of that would go to Mirotic if he joins the NBA. You're not getting much for $5 million. If Mirotic doesn't sign, they might be able to bargain shop (guys like Millsap and Martin signed for under $10 mil last year). It'd be even harder because many of the top guys (the Heat trio, Melo, Dirk, Gay, Gasol, Randolph) could make $20 mil plus instead of the "new" max around $15 mil. The only way they can get significantly over $10 mil is if they traded Rose, Noah or Gibson for an expiring deal.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) And here's officer zoom shooting down another proposal. Monta Ellis? He sucks. He just hogs the ball and can't shoot. Michael Beasley? hahahaha. What a moron. He can't play. He smokes pot. Aldridge? hahaha. He shoots too many jumpers. He doesn't rebound enough. Lamb? Yeah, he's only 21 and played 12 games this year, but no. He's not efficient enough. I swear you secretly work for the bulls. How else could you be so bland and boring? Monta has started well. I'll pay more attention to the last 5 years than the last 12 games. He's also a much better fit with Dirk and Calderon than Rose. Beasley barely matters just like I said, everything he does comes in garbage time. I don't know why you mention Aldridge, as Steve will attest I like him. He's just not a super-elite player. I have more faith in Adams than Lamb. Even in college Lamb didn't really attack the rim. You have to be an insanely good shooter to matter if you don't do that, which Lamb isn't.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:04 AM) Other deals kicked around over there: Hinrich for Shved Deng for Marion + filler and Mavs 1st this year (if it's in the top 20) You'd be going into the draft with... PG: Rose, Teague SG: Shved, Lamb SF: Butler, Snell PF: Nikola, Taj, Murphy C : Adams/Perkins And you have the Bulls pick (which would be damn high at that point), possibly the Cats pick, the Mavs, and the Thunders pick. Everything goes right and Thibs gets that young, athletic roster. And Zoom, hasn't Lamb been doing well this year (in what is essentially his first year in the NBA)? Mavs couldn't trade that pick, Stepien Rule prevents you from trading consecutive picks. Lamb has bad efficiency this year (9 points on 8 shots) and does basically nothing but shoot jumpers at an okay rate. His FT rate is horrible, which is a baf sign. If your only goal is to be terrible, the deal does that. If you want to add guys that csn be above average starters for your next contender, it leaves a lot to be desiref.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 07:22 AM) Non-Bulls fans at RealGM suggesting this: Joakim Noah and Mike Dunleavy for Jeremy Lamb, Steven Adams, a 1st and Perkins. I have no idea whether I'd take it or not. The only thing making me not think "Done" is my love of Jo. Selling WAY too low. Lamb has been mediocre to poor and Adams is a project. Just this past offseason people were talking about Noah for Aldridge.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 10:27 PM) Great, make me watch more of this crap. Seriously, this might be the lowest field goal/minute rate I've seen in a game, and I watch a lot of Northwestern basketball.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 10:09 PM) You know we're going to win. Only because Utah sucks more than the Bulls. I'm guessing they eek out a weak-ass win on FT's.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Probably true, but Nate and Belinelli played huge roles on those teams. Nate won games single handedly. I don't see how the current team scores points unless Boozer and Deng go off. Kirk has never been a great scorer, Noah has never been a scorer at all, and anyone off the bench is going to require a set up before getting a shot. Chances are about 100% that Kirk suffers some kind of injury, so you're left with Teague or James running the offense both in primary and back-up roles. What little we've seen of Teague proves that he's a d-leaguer at best. He's nowhere close to being ready to play. James showed flashes last time he was on the roster, but he probably lost a step if he's behind Teague in the rotation. I also think mentally this team is taxed. Last year they played with the hope that Rose would come back and lead them in the playoffs. Now we know a few weeks into the season that's not going to happen. Are they going to have the same fight in them to care about these games? Especially since half the roster knows they won't be on the team later this season or next season? They didn't have Dunleavy last year and Butler wasn't playing much until Deng got hurt. It largely evens out. Backup PG is an issue, but they were 7-15 in games Kirk missed last year, so it's not like Nate was carrying them in those games. They couldn't score last year either. You don't need much on offense to win when you're playing top-5 caliber defense. They finished 23rd in offensive efficiency last year and should be in the same range. It's not like I said they're going to win a playoff series again, merely that tanking isn't a legitimate option unless they move multiple players and get jack s*** back.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) Not the league. The east. The Bulls wouldn't win 20 games out west with this current roster. They would still get 30. They're better than the Jazz and Kings, they're probably better than the Suns though Phoenix started well, Denver is terrible away from home and the Lakers aren't exactly great either. Also, Memphis is getting outscored by 2.2 PPG so far and Gasol is out indefinitely. Plus they'd still get a fair number of games against the East.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) I'll add too that I'm not sure that I buy that Thibs + scrubs = playoffs. Yes, the east is terrible, but this Bulls team even with Rose has been terrible all year. They're lucky to have a .500 record. They probably should have lost to the Knicks and Bobcats. How likely is it that Kirk stays healthy? A team led by Teague and relying on Boozer to be your main offensive weapon is going to lose a lot of games, even with good defense. They won 45 last year without Rose and the East is much worse. 35 wins might make the playoffs at this rate. They also won several playoff games without Rose, Deng or Hinrich. Basically everyone on the roster has to be traded or die for them to win less than 35 with how awful the league is.
  12. You guys should really stop dreaming about a top 3 pick. Thibs would drag 12 d-league players to 30 wins and Stern retired. Also, the bottom of the league is horrid. By the time they found decent trades for Deng and Boozer, they would already have too many wins. Also, no one is giving you a lottery pick this year unless you kidnap their children. Even then, they would REALLY need to care about that kid. Lastly, the Wiz already traded their first Quin (top 12 protected I think).
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) I'd call it extremely unlikely that they would trade Boozer and frankly it's probably a bad idea to take back someone else's bad contract to do so. Boozer can still be amnestied this offseason. Anyone they take back for Boozer cannot be amnestied (and any team that trades for Boozer also cannot amnesty him). To the Bulls he's almost an expiring contract in the sense that he won't be in the way next year if they don't want him to be. I'm sure they'd like to trade him, but won't like any of the "opportunities".
  14. I'd be shocked if they traded Noah or Taj, that's not their style. I'm pretty much assuming we're going to see Rose (hopefully), Butler, Mirotic/Taj and Noah on the roster next year. That's not an awful start, but they clearly need to add to it. I'm hoping to god they get whatever they can for Deng and Boozer, though I'm not even sure they have the stones for that. Deng should be easier to move, they're are a couple of teams trying to make the playoffs that might be a good fit like Washington (Porter?), Cleveland, Milwaukee, Toronto if they want to dump Gay (he only has one year left past this one), maybe Charlotte, Denver or Sacramento. Boozer, I don't know. You're probably going to have to take on someone's headache.
  15. Just saw the news. FFFFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!!! Crazy s***, must have happened right after I turned it of. Bulls are toast. Trade Deng, trade Boozer. No reason to pay the luxury tax. They'll still magically win 40 though because Thibs has one speed and the east is garbage. Hope Mirotic is Dirk 2.0 and Derrrick can at least give them one or two more solid years, even if he ends up looking more like Jrue Holiday. The Bobcat's pick suddenly became a lot more important.
  16. I would take Davis with little hesitation. He's already damn good and should keep getting better. Plus I lean inside unless it's blatantly obvious the guard/wing is better (which isn't the case since Davis is playing at an All-Star level in the NBA while the picks are still in college). Wiggins or Parker would basically have to turn into a Lebron/Durant/peak Kobe level wing player to make me regret it, and while Randle looks damn good I'd rather have Davis.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 17, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Looking like another year without an NCAA appearance for Northwestern. ll That was an absolutely terrible loss tonight. The Collins era not off to a good start. I don't know that anyone really expected them to do anything this year. Limited offensive talent, young/inexperienced/unproven team, new offensive and defensive systems. Crawford is good, but the rest of the roster is a mess.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 15, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) DeMar and Rudy are going to ruin Valanciunas Rudy will probably be on a new team before long.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think Philly's GM is furious. They'll still be fine and low. It's only 9 games in. Remember...2 years ago? WHen people thought bobcats coach could be coach of year after their hot start? I'm sure they are more than happy to have nailed MCW. It's not like Boston is going according to plan either. They just need to get low enough to be in the race, and then have a bunch get "injuries" in second half. Pretty much this. The Sixers are already getting outscored by 2.8 PPG, that'll get worse once Spencer Hawes stops playing like an All-Star and Evan Turner goes back to shooting 40%. They're still going to end up in the bottom 5. Same deal with Charlotte, they're 4-4 right now despite getting outscored by 4.3 a night. They definitely can't be mad so far. MCW looks like a homerun and Hawes and Turner are building trade value right now. They still only have 5 wins, they need to get like 25 more to really hurt their draft position. They're also still sitting on Nerlens Noel, that could be a big deal.
  20. I know saying this is incredibly stupid this early in the year, but I don't know how Andrew Harrison is a projected top-5ish pick. I barely noticed that he was on the floor.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 10:33 PM) Maybe it's time to lower your standards. Shaq's and Hakeem's don't grow on trees. Just like when Dirk, LeBron and Durant are done, we won't see their likes for a while (well, we won't see a LeBron ever again). Nah, just not nutting myself if someone has 2 good weeks. Several of those guys aren't even doing much better than last year, especially if you look at MPG inceases. I want to be clear this isn't about the 90s vs now bulls*** either, this is about 12/13 vs 13/14.Other than Love being healthy and Davis being unleashed(we'll see on Cousins keeping his s*** together), not much is different inside.
  22. Davis and Love are legit. Cousins is absurdly talented but an inconsistent headcase. The rest are basically the same guys they were last year when we were all uninspired by the bigs around the league.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) Does anyone think maybe Harden didn't want to play third fiddle? Supposedly he would have signed for the $60 million contract instead of the $52 million they offered. Who knows though none of us can read his mind. He definitely got more money by going to Houston.
  24. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 04:54 AM) I don't think it was actually so much of a "small market" issue with Harden and OKC. He simply wanted the Max (4/60), and Presti was only willing to go for 4/52 with him, more to do with the fact Durant and Westbrook were already on Max Money, and the impact that would have had on their payroll flexibility, and that Harden hadn't really developed into a superstar (although that was simply because of the role he was in). What really killed OKC was trading for Kendrick Perkins. That contract has really hindered them big time. The "they couldn't afford him" line is definitely crap. He's making $13.7 million this year. Kendrick Perkins + Jeremy Lamb + Steven Adams= $12.9 million. Then keep in mind that Harden would have been making slightly less in OKC because they didn't have the "designated player" slot available to give him a 5-year deal at higher annual raises that Houston gave him. Also, they wouldn't have been a tax team last year, so they'd still have a year or two to figure s*** out. They would have had to do some financial gymnastics to avoid being a huge tax team a few years down the line, but they would need less talent to legitimately contend and they're still not adding anything else because of the tax line. And what do they really need right now? Someone else that can score and handle the ball to diversify the offense. If only they had a guy that was super-efficient in a backup role that's one of the best on the drive and can hit 3's...
  25. I'm really hoping they don't re-sign Deng, he seems to be getting worse every year. Even Boozer looks better so far. I used to be fine with him, he seems to be eroding from passable #3 option to offensive liability. I think they're fine with Rose, Noah, Butler and a Gibson/Mirotic duo at PF (I'm not even assuming Mirotic is a star, just an Ersan Ilyasova type). They need to find a SG/SF that can efficiently score in the high-teens at a minimum. I don't know where that guy comes from though unless they get lucky with the Charlotte pick (and it might be 5 years before that guy really makes an impact) . They don't really have the cap space to sign a stud even without Deng and Boozer and Klay Thompson isn't going to fall into their lap. I'm not writing them off, but I'm a bit more worried than I was a month ago. Also, not having a 4th big with the injury history that Noah and Boozer have borders on a criminal transgression.
