  1. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) ESPN International, the only option I can get. I live outside the US... He's not speaking Spanish, is he? Because that would be HILARIOUS.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 09:49 PM) My God, I had almost forgotten how horrible Dick Vitale is...dude is just brutal. ? Vitale isn't on the broadcast...
  3. Come on Michigan, I don't really want to see Louisville and Syracuse play a FOURTH time in the final.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) Terrible officiating right now. They're definitely calling some things really tight. On the other hand, it is pretty interesting how effective Wichita State has been cutting off the transition buckets. Louisville is starting to get better shots though.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 10:53 AM) As long as you're okay with a complete loss of competitive balance, worse than it is now It's already ridiculously unbalanced in football, which is where most of the money is.
  6. QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) Yes, but with the 90s being slightly less terrible. More like late-80's through mid-90's. The league went to s*** in the late 90's when guys like MJ, Hakeem, Barkley, Pippen, ect. had either retired or significantly declined. A lot of the drafts in the late 80's/early 90's weren't very good, so there weren't a lot of superstars to replace them.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Point is the way everyone attacks the C position today, it's just as easy to attack perimeter players back in the 90's. Jordan retires and your next best sg is who? Mitch Richmond? Reggie Miller? Pg, you had gary payton, stockton and um? SF you had pippen, hill and then, um? Yeah. It was pretty thin back then. Yeah, because Eric Gordon and Rudy Gay are amazing. The wings are pretty damn thin right now beyond like 6 guys.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Does it bother anyone else that articles mention Michigan being in the final four for the first time since 1993 even though that appearance was vacated? I mean, isn't the point of vacating wins to pretend like they never happened because the team cheated to get there? Is that just crappy journalism or does it not matter? Here's the write-up about it (and headline) from ESPN.com: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=330900057 There's not even an asterisk or footnote mentioning that 92 and 93 had the be vacated. Part of me says that's f***ed up. Doesn't really matter, which is why "vacating wins" is a stupid penalty. It still happened and everyone knows it still happened. The asterisk/footnote is the best they can ever hope for.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanCBS 21m Kentucky announces Willie Cauley-Stein to return to school and Archie Goodwin is headed to NBA Draft. Their backcourt has worked itself out, though the frontcourt still looks extremely crowded.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 11:28 PM) Yawn. Wichita State is in the final four, it's clearly not that hard to get to. I think Duke and Louisville were the best two teams in the country this year. It's silly the team with the better resume and the head-to-head win got stuck playing the only semi-road game of the Elite 8. You should really stop talking up the head-to-head win considering Dieng didn't play. As we saw today, that's a huge difference. It's not like Louisville had a horrible resume either.
  11. Michigan just looks so much better with McGary in there. Their rebounding has improved, their defense isn't as weak with him instead of Morgan and he's been really dangerous as a finisher inside.
  12. Florida is trying to make Wisconsin look good with this performance.
  13. Why did Johnson pass that ball out? He had a makeable layup...
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) And here's the awful defensive team I feared would return. Could have been more physical instead of letting them penetrate so much. And it doesn't matter at this point because Trey Burke.
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:14 PM) Zeller was always going to be limited because of Syracuse's length in their zone. The problem was IU had a freshman point guard and no one else that consistently drove the lane. Down double digits with less than 6 minutes left and IU was still just passing the ball around the perimeter wasting time. Watford did drive on one, but even then Syracuse was able to get good help D and make him miss the first attempt before getting a rebound. Syracuse had better athletes and was able to match up to take Zeller out of the game. It's hard to see how Indiana ever beats Syracuse the way they looked today. I really expected IU to be better on the glass. Syracuse gives up a bunch of offensive rebounds and IU has been one of the better teams attacking the offensive glass this year. They really didn't do s*** though and hit barely any outside shots.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah we all have seen less but when it's out in the open like that it's an easy call to make. Under the basket when it's crowded is when its tougher to call. I've played a ton or organized ball in my life and that kind of contact from behind while in the air used to always tick me off . As soon as I heard the whistle I knew it was on Battier for the push off. I fixed it on edit, I meant to say I've seen "MORE" contact go without a call.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) You must've been watching a different game then I was. It sucks to be jumping for a rebound and feel a hand in your back and the rebound goes flying over your head. That rebound was probably going over Boozers head regardless but Battier did push him ( just watch where Boozer starts his jump and how much he moves forward in the air after the push). Both players momentum was going towards the basket the long rebound caused Battier to use Boozer as a spring board to change his direction to go after the rebound which was headed to a corner. Boozer pretty much trademarked the "jump towards the basket when you feel the slightest contact from behind and yell really loud" move. There was a push, but I've seen more contact go without a call.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 07:11 PM) Not sure what their grades situation is like Like I said, NU was recruiting both of them at one point and Rivals lists both of them as having offers, so I'd think they can take them. Foster especially would be nice, NU can always use more size.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 05:47 PM) Sounds like Minn may lose the two kids from Chicago now that Tubby gone. Pretty sure NU was recruiting both of them. Go get'em Collins!
  20. I think it's more likely to come down to which wing players show up. McLemore and Stauskas/Robinson both are prone to disappearing. I do think McGary is going to help since I was never a big fan of Morgan, but Withey still makes a big impact.
  21. It's hard for me to have a strong opinion about an assistant coach, I just don't know anything about what system he'll run or how much responsibility he really has at Duke. I can't read the NU (yes, it's NU damn it, not NW) rivals board right now. I think they could hire a re-animated John Wooden and the pro-Carmody people would still have a problem with it, and the anti-Carmody people would be fine with hiring a monkey that rolls dice to determine lineups now that BC is gone. Improved recruiting would definitely help. The last few years they had made some gains and actually had more than 3 or 4 guys that looked like they belonged in the Big Ten. Hopefully Collins helps them move up a little more and grabs more strong-3's and 4-stars here and there (technically they had two 4's, but they both dropped after committing and Sina may/may not stick with NU). Carmody's offense definitely helped, but the talent difference was quite obvious defensively and on the glass. If they can improve that under the new regime, they won't have to be quite so perfect on offense to get wins.
  22. If he were just some random coach, I think he'd still be there. The problem is that they're paying him something like $2 million a year (best guess I could find) based on his resume.
