QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) Gottlieb pointing that out. I hated him on ESPN, but kind of like him on CBS. Odd It's just mind-boggling. Not just on the roll either, several times they had the defender sealed only to see the guard drive into a mass of people or throw up some crap.

How many times is Pitt going to miss the big man wide open in the paint?

2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread
ZoomSlowik replied to He_Gawn's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm with Gottlieb, the rules regarding flagrant fouls are getting out of hand. A bunch of plays (going back to last week) where incidental contact to the head (several where the recipient of the hit barely flinched) results in 2 FT's and the ball, not to mention some ridiculously long delays. -
Speaking of pretty awful, Butler looks horrid offensively. Bucknell starting to hit some jumpers.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) 1/9 from this NBA-caliber center? Not impressed. Yeah, he's been pretty awful outside of the and-1 he just got. Can't even catch the ball.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 12:04 PM) Its so different not watching Big Ten vs Big Ten. Forgot how much better and physical our teams are. Well, it is a 3 vs a 14...

This Butler/Bucknell game is painful to watch. I don't know why I would expect anything different, it was pretty obvious what kind of game it'd be from the stats.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 06:54 AM) I don't think any of them will go pro, but I think one or two of them might transfer, especially if Cal lets them go without having to sit out a year. Did I miss some new rule where coaches have that kind of authority? Once they're on campus, only the NCAA can grant waivers on that.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 01:08 AM) I think that 0-6 thing is getting way overblown. First of all lets think about the insane part of that, they won 26 games by double digits. How ridiculous is that? Now moving on to the negative perception of the 0-6. Florida only lost 7 games, that means you can spin it as "Florida was only beaten by double digits once", thus they had a chance to win almost every game they played but 1. The losses were almost all on the road, @ AZ by 1 where they gave up 6 points in the final minute to lose (AZ shot 21 fts to FLA 8), "neutral" floor to K-State (game was played in Kansas City, @ Mizzou, @ Tenn, @ UK and neutral against Ole Miss, meaning Florida only lost 1 game when on a neutral or home court. At least for me, it's that they lost 4 SEC games, 5 if you count the one in the SEC tournament. The SEC is weak as hell this year. Three losses to non-tournament teams and a nuetral floor loss to a 12-seed gives me some pause. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) Heres what I got: Ville, OSU, Florida, Indiana Vill v Florida Florida champs Your bracket and mind sound pretty similar. -
I would still guess at least one of those guys (Goodwin, Poythress or Cauley-Stein) will go. Most guys say they're staying/will evaluate their options right after the game. Then they do real research and Cal always advises them to go pro if they're a 1st rounder (which all of those guys are). Given their history, the odds of Kentucky still having like 12 rotation players is pretty slim. I do find that current situation pretty fascinating though.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) That's why I am asking. Kentucky's roster shows 13 players. With 2 seniors and Noel leaving, are you saying they only have 11 on scholarship right now? That would take them down to 8 as you say. I don't know UK's roster. Who is on the 13 man roster but not on scholarship? Malone and Long. I don't think Lanter is either.
-
QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Holy Tom Crean! How is Kentucky going to manage the roster. They currently have two seniors listed on their roster and Noel. They now have 7 commits. That's double the match Tom Crean has to make work and Kentucky is not a state known for it's math skills. That's the wrong way to look at it because it assumes everyone is at the scholarship limit. The better way is to look at returning players. Indiana has 10 scholarship players if absolutely everyone came back, Kentucky only has 8. Kentucky needs 1 player to leave besides Noel (although they're still recruiting).

I'M ALSO GOING TO TALK A BOUT THE BATCH OF DIAPER DANDIES THAT DUKE AND KENTUCKY HAVE COMING NEXT YEAR EVEN THOUGH NEITHER OF THOSE TEAMS IS PLAYING THIS GAME I AM CALLING!!!!

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) This has the decision written all over it... Holy s***, the timing of that was amazing.

Some of you people need to get off your high horse. People far more reputable than Steve were posting complete bulls*** during the Lebron saga.
-
Soooo, with two people out, I'm thinking the league isn't going to make it as is. I'd need AT LEAST two new guys, if not 4 (though the logistics of going back to 12 would be tough). As for a new one, I've got MAYBE 4 after sending out PM's with no response. Let me know people!

Zags could (should) play a top-10 team on Pomeroy in the second round. Veeeerrrryyy interesting.
-
NC State could be an epic second round game, definite shootout potential. IU should have the edge though because NC State can't defend at all.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) I'm boring this year and only have one double digit seed in the s16 and that's Bucknell. Besides the 8/9 and 7/10 games my 1st round upsets are: Bucknell obviously Belmont Either MTSU or St Mary's Jackrabbits over Michigan Damn you Rowand, Bucknell was MY brilliant upset pick! I had St. Mary's too. I feel like Minnesota over UCLA is the easiest upset pick in the field, especially with Jordan Adams out.

Man, some reeeeaaaallllly questionable calls in Louisville's favor the last couple of minutes. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Teddy V saved Nix 3 fouls in 3 possessions. I have no idea how that one block where he got all arm wasn't a foul.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) I was sleeping when this "news" broke. When I saw my phone I thought people were re-tweeting my get well to Lil Wayne. Same here. What's the disclaimer they usually put at the beginning of movies on DVD/Blu Ray? "The thoughts expressed in the commentary on this site are soley the beliefs of the author and do not represent the views of any other individuals or Flapship as a whole."

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) Maryland is hitting a lot more shots than they typically do as well. Down 9 right now (7 right as I typed that), but Duke is in the double-bonus so I'm expecting a ton of FT's to pull it out. Or not. Maryland just won't miss anything even though they're not a good shooting team.
