QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) I understand that, but the fact remains that he's out there playing with the bench all the time. Every game in fact. For multiple years straight. I don't understand what the big deal is about me including him with the bench. Does this really bother you that much? Because including a guy that is very clearly a starter with the bench players is the kind of thing that makes everyone in the board argue with you. It's just plain silly.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Ok fine, but I think you're being disingenuous when you use the word "occasionally". Deng played the most minutes out of anybody in the league last year. Naturally those minutes included being out there with the bench mob. He's as much a member of the bench mob as he is a member of the starters. Thats why he's our beloved lieutenant. No he isn't. He starts games. By definition, that makes him a starter, not a bench player. It's really a very simple concept that you are somehow missing.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Spoelstra does like to keep one of either Wade or Lebron on the court at all times. If you play with the bench in every game and do so for significant minutes, for several years straight, I don't see whats so controversial about me including Deng with the bench mob. He's there, he's playing and he's playing big minutes. *shrug* Because he doesn't come off the bench. The definition of a "bench player" does not include "occasionally plays with the bench". You are using it in a very strange way. Every player in the league plays at least some minutes with bench players in every game. This isn't hockey where there are line changes.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) Deng has played with the bench for the past 3 years, is this your first time watching the Bulls? Kirk got passed over because he was injured and because the Hawks had a young promising PG named Jeff Teague they wanted to groom. Naz being starting caliber is very wishful thinking, granted. But his offense is definitely a lot better than Asiks was. Naz can actually hit a 15 foot J. Deng has come off the bench for one game in the last 3 years. He plays more than Derrick Rose for christ's sake. He is in no way a bench player.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) Ok maybe not double doubles. But I could easily see him averaging 10+/7/4 boards/1 block/1 steal You probably shouldn't expect a guy that most consider a fringe starter at this point to set new career highs in three different categories.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) Five years ago maybe, but with all the concussion hype it's called almost every time now. I have two friends that ref HS and small colleges and they've been told to flag liberally and if they miss too many head to head hits they won't continue to work games. It's not called anywhere close to "almost every time". If that were the case, there would be a flag on virtually every other running play. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) Perspective from field level is very different from high up in the stands or on camera. Guy was leading with his head and that's going to get flagged nearly every time. The ref doesn't get the benefit of being 100 feet up in the air to see whether or not it's the head or shoulders that make the contact. It really isn't. He was running with the ball. If the player is a ball-carrier, helmet-to-helmet is rarely called because it's hard to avoid it on a moving target. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) So, blatantly not enforcing a rule is fine when it goes against ND, but not being able to be 100% certain as to whether the runner got hit with a head or a shoulder at full speed is a travesty. I see where you're coming from. When have you ever seen it called? It's not remotely comparable to determining whether the player got into the end zone or not (which he did). It's like expecting them to call a pitch thrown at the armpits a strike or call a travel every time a player takes more than two steps in the NBA. I've been watching football for 20 years and have NEVER seen that play called. It's not really comparable to determining whether or not a player crossed the line. Also, Golson had the ball. How often do you see helmet-to-helmet called on a guy carrying the ball? It's not the same as if he was standing there in the pocket or a receiver going over the middle. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) You can't see both of the runners knees to know for sure that he wasn't down before crossing the goal line, and the last time I checked, hitting somebody in the head is a personal foul. And validly pointing out the officiating now but not doing so after the USC game in 2005 is hypocrisy. You're getting pretty ridiculous here. I'm going to ignore the touchdown play and just go with the other two... 1) Hitting a player in the head with your shoulder is not a penalty, especially on a ball carrier. 2) Unless you can find an instance, ever, where they called a penalty on a play where a teammate pushed his teammate into the end zone, stop using it as an example. -
I'm always in.

What's next, griping about how they never call traveling? This thread is odd sometimes...

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Alright I went ahead and read it (it was shorter than I thought) and I'm still lost. So the Bulls won't have the MLE till 2014 even with the amnesty Boozer? Shouldn't that give the Bulls more than enough to give Mirotic his 5 mill a year which is more than what he's making out there Or is 2014 just when we don't have to pay him on the rookie scale. The last part.
-
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) lol but that article is soooo longgggg. I literally just had it open but don't have the attention span to read it all. What I gathered from the conclusions that they thankfully posted at the beginning..... 1. It is cost prohibitive for Mirotic to come over before the 2014-2015 season. 2. The Bulls will have to use an MLE, not the Rookie Scale, to sign Mirotic (they have this option beginning in 2014). This means, barring trades, Mirotic will be the major addition in the year they bring him over - they will be unable to sign another major free agent (Chicago will only have minimum contracts and possibly the Bi-Annual Exception left to offer). 3. The full Mid-Level Exception will probably be required to sign Mirotic. The mini-MLE would be a significant pay cut even if the buyout were negotiated down to zero. This means the Bulls will only be able to sign him in a non-taxpaying year. Deng’s contract comes off the books in 2014, Boozer’s in 2015. Is if they had the full MLE or the 5 mill in cap space they would be able to sign him. Wouldn't trading or the amnesty of Boozer free that money up? Ugh, if you don't have the attention span to read, or at least look at the charts, I'm not going to bother. Unless Mirotic is willing to give up like $15 million over the course of his rookie contract, he's not coming before 2014-15 at the earliest.
-
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) I know we've been through this 100 times but refresh my memory. Lets say Boozer has a really good year this year with the absence of Rose. What if they can trade him in the offseason for minimal contract returns. Can they use that money for Mirotic? What about the amnesty of Boozer? The way he stretches the floor would work out perfectly for the rest of the team. Just read this: Mirotic financial information. Basically, 2014-15 is the earliest they'll see him, maybe later if they don't have the full MLE/cap space available.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 10, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) I wanna see D Rose recruit Mirotic while he's hurt. Can he and GarPax go to some Real Madrid games or would that be against some kind rules? Fill that mans head that he's ready to take the Bulls to the next level and Derrick saying he really wants to play with him. Based on the Sam Smith article on the Bulls website he sounds like the real deal and he would fit in so well with the rest of the team. As far as this year goes, I like who they are as a team. This team is built on defense and adding Kirk just adds to that. If Rip can stay healthy he's still a capable defender and with Kirk, Rip doesn't have to take on the other teams best scorer which should save him on the offensive side of the ball. The rest of the bench should be on par with last years team. I expect this to to be a playoff team and if and when Derrick comes back and knocks off the rust I see no reason why they cant compete for a title. Mirotic would have to give up s***loads of money to come here before 2015. "Recruiting him" isn't going to get him here any sooner.

Come on, he wasn't baiting you, he was calling out Kyrie Irving. That's why you're anti-Bulls, aren't you?!?!? You play for the Cavs!!!!!

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) For anyone playing Borderlands 2, On the second playthrough, ONLY do the main story quests. Avoid the sidequests until you've beaten the game again. The sidequests will all go up to level 50+ and you'll get better rewards. Geez, and I thought I played this game a lot. I've been doing way too much random BS, so my leveling has gone kind of slow of late.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) The Thunder actually match up pretty well with the Lakers still. Perkins is worthless against teams like Miami but he still plays good low post defense and has given Dwight some trouble in the past. Add in the fact that the Lakers are very slow defensively on the perimeter and you have a pretty good matchup for the Thunder. Nash guarding Harden or Westbrook will be laughable. That was why I wouldn't write them off. The Lakers can't cover Westbrook or Durant and though they have no scoring inside, they have big bodies to throw at Dwight and Gasol.
-
I wouldn't write off the Thunder this year, though if Harden goes somewhere else, yeah.
-
f*** it, might as well give it a shot.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) I picked up some Siren character mods while playing earlier I'll give you next time we play. I'm debating how thoroughly to take advantage of Claptrap's secret stash and send stuff from my main character to that one. I'm definitely sending my two guns from the vault (almost high enough to use them ), will have to see how viable it is beyond that. If I'd have thought about it, I'd have saved a bunch of stuff instead of selling it. Oh well.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Im not sure /roll was originally in the game, its been over 10 years so I cant remember if that was a patch update or not. The game was way different to start, kill stealing, ninja looting, exploiting trade bugs, all were fair game. The best policy still was always to loot first and ask questions later, unless it was no drop and then you were just a dick. A lot of people grab everything in sight, sell it at the stores, then pump it into the slot machines hoping for better stuff. I've had a lot of luck playing with people that are a slightly higher level than me (I've been playing with 20-25 people, was below that until yesterday), they'll let a lot of stuff pass because it's not worthy of their inventory and will occasionally drop good stuff.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) It's difficult to have any perspective on weapons of people who are not at a similar level to you. I'm currently using sniper rifles that do 2500 damage (+shock, +fire) and launchers that do 25000, but I'm sure my friend who's a little further than me thinks I have all trash. I don't think I've seen any Orange weapons yet; only grenades and shields. What level are you at? I've seen other people get crazy s*** like that, but probably the most powerful I've seen are 60x10 shotguns and 2,500 launchers.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 03:37 PM) Sounds like you've had either very bad luck (very few good drops) or amazingly good luck (some very OP weapons that lasted a long time). I've never kept a weapon for more than a 5 levels. For normal guns, I rotate them out pretty heavily. I really liked the stuff I got from the vault. One of them was a shotgun that did 122 (one shot) plus fire damage, which was solid until I got a few blue ones that do like 60x10 (one of which adds explosive). The assault rifle was like 78 plus explosive, so it came out to 150 a shot. I've found a few similar to that, but it also had a 33 shot clip, which was really nice. I do think my drops have kinda sucked though. I've seen very few purple guns (10-ish? some of which were lower level. I seem to find a lot of purple grenade mods) and I don't think I've ever seen an orange. I've been playing a lot of co-op too, so there's probably some loot-ninja stuff hurting my inventory.
