QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) If you open it at level 35, then it's going to be useful for maybe 35,36,37,38. Then you'll sell it. I'm waiting until level 50. I don't see the point in waiting until level 50, then what are you going to use it on? Random quest cleanup (which you'll be way overpowered for even without it) and further loot farming? Nah, I want something I have a shot at using late in the story. I was still using the level 10 stuff I grabbed at level 20, and in retrospect I might still be using the assault rifle I got if I hadn't sold it (not a big fan of the replacement I had).

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) In case you guys didnt know, theres a guy in Sanctuary named Michael Mamaril that, if spoken to, will give you a blue item after each mission for free. Knew about him, but didn't realize he gave you rare s*** every time. Just found him (I guess he's always there and only 10% of the time otherwise), but the thing I got was a piece of crap. He owes me.

QUOTE (Carter224 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Ive gotten purple guns from the slot machine The majority of what I am carrying on me now is purple and I got an orange grenade mod at level 6 from Boom Bewm Lucky bastard, I've seen like 10 purple items the whole game, half of which weren't guns. It says 3 orange, but I only remember one. Also, just found out about this trick, awesome. (semi-spoiler).

QUOTE (Carter224 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:21 PM) It doesnt really matter when you open the chest Gearbox has already said it will always be Purple loot.. I opened it twice so far, once at a low level and once at 29. At 29 I got two good shotguns and at the low level, I think like 12-15 I got two good assault rifles. Honestly, the guns are only as good as your level. Ive already seen better stuff fall out of skags since then. Whats the point of waiting an eternity to use it? QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) yeah i singleplayer my ass off before they get online. if not then id still be using the same gun you start the game with because of them. It's always purple, but as you said, there's a big difference between a purple level 10 and a purple level 35. If you do it early, the stuff becomes obsolete. I opened mine at like level 12, and I was already rotating one of them out by level 17 (a 122 damage shotgun with fire damage after I picked up a 61x11 one). I still use the assault rifle I picked up (level 19 now), but if you open it at like lvl 35 it's more likely to be useful towards the end of the game. Where are you finding the good stuff? The vast majority of the guns I find on missions are white or green, so maybe 1 out of 10 are useful. Honestly, probably half of my current arsenal came from the slot machines. You don't get rare ones very often (maybe 4 blues, no purple or orange yet but you can get them), but I did get some good greens as well as those few rare ones. It's a good option in co-op because it's cheaper to play and people are less likely to steal your crap. I'll sit there dropping a couple grand in the slot machine, go sell the trash, then go back and play.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 07:20 AM) Next year will be tough for them. I'd expect them to offload Gasol to a contender after this season. Nash expires after next year as well as Kobe IIRC. In fact, I think they have a ton of cap cleared after next year. It's a matter of them getting through next year. Nash signed a 3-year deal, and obviously they're going to try to extend Dwight. They'd have to work out Kobe's contract before they have any space because of the massive cap hold (like $30 mil) that he would have. They'd either have to renounce his Bird Rights to clear it or get him to sign for a huge paycut. Gasol would have a huge cap hold if he's still around as well.

QUOTE (elamins @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) A buddy of mine opened one when we were doin some co-op he didnt know it was the golden chest but we each have 2 golden keys so it doesnt mess him up too bad. Yeah, I opened it thinking I had 2 keys per character, not two total. I really like the guns I got, but I've seen people pull stuff that does like 600 damage per shot.
-
One note for Borderlands 2 players: if you have a golden key, DO NOT open the gold chest with the skulls in Sanctuary at your first opportunity. Wait until you are a higher level. You do get two kick-ass rare items out of it, but if you wait until you're a higher level, they'll be even more kick-ass later.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) At the point you're at, any good gun you get is going to be obsolete in a couple levels anyway. Just use whatever good stuff you come across (sniper, assault rifles, smgs, etc). That's pretty much what I do, but I'd prefer to balance my arsenal a bit so I'm not constantly trying to get more assault rifle and shotgun ammo.
-
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) It totally depends on your level. Well, I'm a 10 right now and I only have the basic, s***ty SMG's. You also seem to get better stuff in co-op if no one beats you to it, which I've done a few times.
-
If anyone on PS3 picks up a sweet SMG in Borderlands and wants to trade, message me (same ID as here). I've got an abundance of pretty solid assault rifles.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 19, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Borderlands 2 wouldve been so much more enjoyable if it had a loot system like diablo 3 where whatever loot drops is your own. That being said, this is the greatest game ive ever played and i cant wait till Carter224 gets on xbox live so we can steal each others s***. Yeah, that annoys me, I've played a few rounds with guys that dash right for the loot and grab everything in sight. They don't even leave me ammo much less guns. Other than that though, this game is awesome. I like the writing and some of the shootouts are pretty awesome. Considering I'm only a level 8, I'm sure it gets even more intense.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) That was prior to signing Teague and Nate Robinson's non-guaranteed deal. So they're literally right up against it now. You got me there, I didn't double-check hoopshype and went on the source you provided.
-
That's moving the target a bit, you said that they literally couldn't sign anybody and didn't have any exceptions they can use. Even with the apron, the quote you posted said that they have $1.6 mil left, which would be useable on a minimum contract guy.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) I believe it's actually impossible for them to sign anyone right now, they've literally used up all their exemptions IIRC. Wrong.
-
Any other PS3 people pick up/plan on picking up Borderlands 2? I'd love to find some other people that aren't going to take EVERY piece of loot that drops. I put in a little over an hour last night after picking it up at midnight, really early impression but it's really good.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) I said that they would be a .500 team with Beckman's mediocre talent. You brought up the talent that Zook brought to Champaign. It's a mediocre football program as time has shown and I don't see how different it will be now as opposed to having Zook coach. More coaching, less talent, still 6-6 You're missing my point(s)... 1) Those Zook-recruited players didn't suddenly disappear from the roster when he was fired. Beckman still has those guys right now and will still have a lot of Zook players for the next couple of years. If he theoretically got 4 years to prove himself (which would be a bit short), most of that would still be on the backs of Zook recruits. 2) There's a difference between getting fewer stars from rivals and actually having a drop in talent. Guys like Vonte Davis, LeShoure, Mercilus and Brown weren't nearly as hyped as a lot of other guys the Illini signed. Plus there's no evidence yet that Illinois is going to see a major drop in the ratings, Aaron Bailey is a very solid recruit and they already have another 4-star on rivals. The guy has been on the job for about 8 months so far. It's WAY too early to assume anything. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) And those are all Zook recruits right? Your argument was that they're currently a .500 team with mediocre talent. Regardless of who recruited them, that's not mediocre talent. Beckman hasn't even been there a full calendar year yet, so you can't remotely judge his recruits. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 04:59 PM) With Zook we had a .500 team with NFL talent and a coach who kept you on your toes. Now we have a .500 team with mediocre talent and a boring coach. Advantage Zook. Yeaaaah, I'm sure pretty much anyone would happily take Brown, Buchanan and Spence. When he's healthy, Scheelhaase is better than mediocre too. I'm going to stay out of ripping the coach two games in and arguing about how much Western Michigan sucks, but their talent level isn't exactly weak. -
Pretty s***-tacular first drive.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I took this season off of fantasy. First time in 14 years. I needed a break I took a couple of years off, but for very different reasons. I got sick of always drafting a RB in the first round that got hurt/fell off a cliff and having random s*** cost me wins the 1 time out of 3 when I actually had a good team (TO's suspension a couple years ago, someone's BS TE getting 2 TD's in the playoffs, ect). So of course I start playing again last year and I draft Jamal Charles and Kenny Britt, then Fred Jackson goes down before the playoffs.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Northwestern got bailed out by an absolutely horrid personal foul call against Syracuse. Meh, it makes up for a couple of pretty questionable pass interference calls and they had another down anyways. Pretty horrid pass D though, that's not a good sign. -
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 31, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Jeremy Stoltz @BearReport Per @McClain_on_NFL, the #Bears have traded FB Tyler Clutts to the Texans for CB Sherrick McManis Hooray for Northwestern players! Will be nice to balance it out since I don't know if Wootton makes the team (stupid injuries).
