QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:45 AM) According to KC Johnson, who is the Bulls' mouthpiece, Gibson probably wouldn't be extended since they have a 2014 FA plan, as if 2000, 2006, and 2010 weren't enough FA failures. If Asik gets extended, then Gibson is as good as gone anyway. He finished the season top 5 still. And how is it awful when people try to bring up that he's a ballhog who just jacks up shots, left and right, when it couldn't be further from the truth? Or should I no longer bring up relevant stats to a discussion. His PER that year was at an even 17.0, his eFG% was 52.1% and his TS% was 57.3. He also was good for 6.9 wins that year. Oh wait, I remember why the hate for Ben. Because many Bulls fans stupidly believed that any shot Gordon took was taking the ball out of Rose's hands and that a team full of guys just taking open jumpshots after Rose has touched the ball on the possession is a championship team, similar to LeBron's Cavs. Welp, until this year, when they realize that Rose needs serious offensive help. Then again, there are still those people out there to this day. I don't really care about the rest, just use an actual stat instead of your own random, flawed qualifier that doesn't prove anything, especially when it's not even accurate. True shooting percentage would make far more sense, but then it would prove that he wasn't a scoring god. Ben Gordon was not more efficient scoring that year than Chris Paul just because Chris took .1 more shots, especially since he scored 2 more points. Points don't magically stop counting after 20, so don't pretend that they do. He was a good scorer, but not anywhere near top of the league good.

I have a hard time buying the black comment given how far Perry Jones slid (before someone brings up the medical report, he was projected at like 19 before that). Drummond, Leonard and Jones all have very good measureables and none of them went top-5. You could argue that Leonard was better than those other two in college, but none of them really dominated.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) Wow White went high. And exactly 76ers relied on Hawes, there are some okay big men in this draft, what are you doing. What am I thinking, Sullinger makes perfect sense there. They need someone that does something besides shoot jumpers, he's got a very good post game. Yeah, his back may be an issue, but s***, do something so you don't rely on Lavoy Allen, Spencer Hawes an old man Brand inside.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) 76ers draft another player who is exactly the same as all of the other players they have. What the hell. Yeah, very odd. Even if you trade Iguodala, you still have Turner and Young. I have no idea why they don't take a shot at Jones. Yeah, it's risky, but they need to try to get an impact big if they're going to get anywhere.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:58 PM) My take is I could care less what is done. Just don't f*ck up my New Year's Day or the meaning of the regular season. I know the NFL is popular, but college football is not the NFL and should ot model itself after it. New Year's has been dead for a while IMO. The most meaningful games are after the 1st now. IMO, you need every major game on the 1st except for the title game. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) I don't think Gordon wants to be in NO. They could trade him. They'd have to trade him for it to make any sense. Even then, I'm not a big Rivers fan and I think they'd have to spend a fair amount to get to the league minimum. Chad Ford's take on River from a Grantland article:

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) Who plays PG for Hornets? I always felt Rivers was more SG Yeah. Rivers+Gordon= second ball needed. I don't get it since they can match on Gordon and he's a better player.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Am I the only one that thinks Bradley Beal being called a sharpshooter is laughable? 77% FTs, 34% 3P? Wouldn't a guy being compared to Ray Allen at least shoot better than average in something? He's compared to Ray Allen yet Allen shot over 40% from 3 all 3 years of college and shot at least 35% from 3 every year of his pro career. In other words he was never as mediocre as Beal. Pretty much everyone admits that he didn't shoot as well as his reputation in college. His other comp is Eric Gordon, who had some struggles at Indiana as well (yeah, he had a wrist injury for an excuse, but still).

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 04:54 PM) Except, that really didn't happen his last few years here. Or do I have to bring out the 82games stats for defense as well as the fact that Ben had the 2nd least shot attempts for someone averaging 20ppg his last year here. He was only 2nd in the league to Dwight Howard. But continue on with your bias...I think I have a good Ben debate in here with me. BTW, even if the Bulls didn't want Ben who is better than Korver and Brewer, that draft pick would've been worth it as they need to stockpile assets and get rid of deadweight. Will you quit bringing up that awful stat about the 20 point average? Why in god's name would you completely ignore that many of those players scored considerably more than 20 points? It's not even accurate, Paul Pierce and Devin Harris both averaged at least 20 PPG while taking fewer shots than Gordon the last time he did it.

It'd more likely be Utah that pulls out on that deal. They don't need to be paying Andris Biedrins $9 million to be their 4th best big man (5th if Kanter develops).

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 09:43 AM) This. I think we put that whole team on a pedestal when in reality Kevin Durant is amazing and the rest are a notch or more below. Very classy of Brooks to talk to his troops in the last timeout, if anyone saw that replayed on ESPN. Said "they beat us fair and square" and wanted to make sure that every Thunder player took the loss gracefully, congratulating the Heat. With the way LeBron dominated these playoffs, I have to wonder if he needed "superstars" alongside him to win it. Wade in particular still had some great games, but these playoffs were all LeBron. Could he have won in Cleveland on a team that would have the money to invest in role players instead of superstars? God no. I think the Orlando series a couple of years ago proved that. He averaged 38-8-8 and the Cavs would have lost in 5 if he didn't hit that miracle 3 at the end of game 2. You can't win a title if Mo Williams is your second best player. Granted he didn't need Wade AND Bosh, but he needed someone else that was a legit threat to score so he didn't have to score 40 against legit teams to get a win. The Cavs were kind of a clusterf*** when he left, it was a miracle that they won 60 two years in a row with that roster. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) OKC = heads up ass This is ugly. This makes me wonder how we would have fared against the Heat. We played better than this OKC team plays...I think because we have better coaching. They're totally different teams and the style of play would be totally different, so it's hard to say. The Bulls play way better defense, but they also don't have nearly as much offensive talent. Last time we saw that matchup, the Heat won a bunch of 88-84 type games because no one on the Bulls could put the ball in the net. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Does it put Charlotte under the cap? WAY under. They were at like $42 mil with Okafor and Ariza and counting their two firsts (albiet not counting Gordon). Now, even if Gordon gets $16 mil a year (which would be a bit steep), they'd be at about $40 million in salary. -

OKC desperately needs to find at least one more player that is some threat to score, or at least guys that can hit open shots. None of their bigs really scare anyone offensively, Thabo is a huge liability, Fisher is useless if he's not hitting jumpers and you rarely see Cook. They have no flexibility, they're playing 2.5 on 5 offensively (.5 for Ibaka occasionally hitting jumpers/finishing a simple post move) unless they play Westbrook/Harden/Durant at the same time. It gets even worse if they can't afford to keep Harden. The fact that they've gotten this far is a testament to how brilliant Durant is offensively, how good Westbrook can be, and how efficient Harden can be as a third scorer (though obviously not this series). -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) I'm going to call it now. Wade tries to do too much the rest of the way, Lebron misses one or two isolation jumpers, Heat lose by 6. This was a legit prediction, but ended up being a jinx. OKC just can't execute when it really matters. -

On the one hand, I do miss the way games were called in the 90's where you generally had to earn your free throws. On the other hand, the Knicks/Heat went a little overboard and no one would score if they called it that way now. -

Why do people bite so hard on Wade shot fakes? I mean yeah, it's a good one, but let him shoot. It's not like he's going to beat you from out there with regularity. -

I'm not even against the Deng-to-Barnes move for financial reasons (assuming he's even there at 5, which isn't a lock), I'd just be fairly shocked if he averaged more than 10 PPG as a rookie (if he does, it'll probably be of the 11 points/10 shots variety) and am not 100% sure he'll be better than Marvin Williams. It doesn't seem like basketball people do either, otherwise he'd be a consensus #2. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) That hype thing was just something i threw out there, not what i based my belief off of -ACC Rookie of the year -Freshman All American -Most points in an Ncaa tourney by a UNC freshman in nearly 35 years -High School Player of the year -2010 and 11 preseason All American thats what my belief is based off of and I said he'll be better than Deng for the rest of his career...I think Deng is only a 15 PPG guy the rest of the way, I can see Barnes being what Deng was a few years ago 17+ ppg If you want to go off awards that mean nothing at the next level, he wasn't even a finalist for the player of the year. Should we be taking Draymond Green instead? Take a look at Michael Beasley did in college. The NBA is a totally different game. It's a major step up, damn near everyone in the league was a stud in college.
