  1. Thanks guys. God, I feel old...
  2. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) I wouldn't. I'd rather them go straight there than just play one year. If a bunch leave and flame out, perhaps it would slow down the process. Maybe the NBA would be a bit more disciplined and not draft kids until they've proven something. Blowing millions on kids who bust might just do the trick. Not likely. You get fired if you take that flop, but you get fired if you pass on the next superstar too. They're always going to take the best talent that's available.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2012 -> 12:42 AM) Ok. Who do you expect more out of, Perea and Farrell, or Williams and Scott next season? I've barely seen any of them play. The Hoosiers look more explosive from that extremely limited sampling, but the OSU guys have a much clearer path to major minutes since there are two starting spots open.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2012 -> 08:12 AM) How come OSU's young guys are question marks but everyone else's are expected to be contributors immediately as freshman? OSU has just as many McD's AA's sitting on the bench about the make the leap towards their second year than any of the other teams in the conference have coming in. Second, the top recruit of last class didnt join the team until halfway through the year and got zero run. This was the youngest team in the conference this year, and in 2 years should be VERY good. Now if Tony Parker picks OSU this is all a whole new ballgame. I didn't really say anything about expecting freshmen to dominate. Indiana has 4 starters back plus Sheehey playing quite a bit. They're fine even if their freshmen provide nothing but depth. Wisconsin has 4 starters back and Brust, not to mention they have a history of guys coming out of nowhere to produce. Michigan should have their two best players back plus Morgan. Admittedly they need a bit more from freshmen, but McGary is probably the best recruit in the league and only needs to average like 9 and 7 to be an upgrade over what they had. Anything they get from Robinson and/or Stauskas would be a bonus. If Hardaway goes they have to lean on the freshmen a bit more, if Burke goes they're in deep s*** without a solid replacement option at the point. I just went on a rant about how I think MSU is overrated in that poll. I'd put them on a similar tier as the non-Sullinger Buckeyes. Appling should be pretty solid, but it remains to be seen what they can get from Dawson/Payne/Harris. There's some pretty solid upside in there though and Nix can be solid in spots. As for the Buckeyes, as I kind of said, who knows. Sullinger and Buford are both huge losses. Thomas can definitely score and Craft is solid. Smith looks like he should be pretty decent taking on a bigger role. After that, it's a lot of guys that haven't played much or didn't make a huge impact. At least Dawson and Payne have some experience, we have seen very little from guys like Williams, Ross, Thompson and Scott. If one of them becomes a stud, fine. All I'm saying is you have no clue what you're going to get outside of those first 3 guys and they need at least one to be pretty solid to be anywhere near what they did the last couple of years.
  5. He's that kind of player now, the hope is that he eventually develops more of an offensive game down the road. The more optimistic projection would be KG (though probably not the assists/passing).
  6. He has MSU way too high in my opinion. Green was as important to his team as any player I can think of. There's are several highly regarded recruits there, but not a lot of proven production. I think they MIGHT be good if guys like Appling, Dawson and Payne progress and Harris is a stud right away, but that's not exactly a given. top-10 is a stretch for me. Indiana is loaded, OSU would be up there if Sullinger is back, though not so much if he goes (sorry Rock, too many question marks beyond Thomas, Craft and Smith). Michigan would have a really good starting lineup if Burke and Hardaway stay and you know Wisconsin is going to finish in the top-4 by default.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 3, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) heard larry brown this morning on mike and mike saying that whatever team gets anthony davis will win 50 games...I think thats a bit much, but if the bobcats get davis, and can even supplement that a little bit - that pick has a great chance at 1.) becoming unprotected (meaning we get a non-lottery pick), or 2.) being something like the 9-12th pick. Lets be honest - its really not THAT hard to crack the playoffs in the east. I kinda think that pick is overvalued by many ....we just have to hope the bobcats somehow continue to get the 3-4th pick, and not the 1 or 2. Yeah, that's completely asanine. Charlotte would win 11.5 games at their current rate in an 82 game season. Anthony Davis is not worth anywhere near 40 wins at this point in his career. Charlotte is likely to blow for at least one more year, maybe the year after they become passable if they get Davis and a solid guard.
  8. I'm not sure I'd get down on this class too much since a bunch of the better prospects weren't there. Noel, McGary, Adams and Ledo weren't there and Pollard didn't play. I'd imagine Perea and Tarczewski are better than a bunch of the bigs that were selected too.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) Gibson as a top 10 pick? I don't think so. That seems to be a hindsight opinion, because even at like 29 or whatever it was, people didn't like the Gibson pick. Because he was a 24 year old rookie, meaning he was basically seen as a finish product. Had he been the same exact player as the typical 19-20 year old underclassmen, things are totally different because they're still predicting some development. We saw a somewhat comparable example just this past year with Tristan Thompson.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) Drummond has a significantly higher ceiling with regards to NBA potential. Heck, M. Leonard does as well. Is TRob really going to be anything better than Taj Gibson in the NBA? That's basically what I was saying, most years he'd be closer to 8 because guys with the kind of raw ability I mentioned generally dominate more (and Taj probably would have gone top-10 if he weren't a 24 year old rookie). This is a really odd looking draft class; there are a number of guys with potential but really only one sure thing with Davis.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) I know he shows great hustle and is a strong rebounder, but how in the world is Thomas Robinson the #3 prospect in all of college basketball? He has absolutely no touch around the basket and limited range. More talented guys like Drummond, Jones and Barnes failing to play to their abilities.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Realistically, there is no chance they beat an NBA team. Maybe once out of 10 games. Even the Bobcats. It's definitely a stretch, the NBA team is always going to have way better depth. That said, the Bobcats are so bad and Kentucky has so much NBA-caliber talent that it's about as close as I can ever remember.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) If you switch Teague with Wall as a freshman two years ago, I say they'd have a chance. That's what I was thinking, Charlotte's frontcourt is really bad but Augustin and Walker wouldn't be a good matchup for UK.
  14. No s***, at least 4 of those fouls were non-existant
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Ohio looks exhausted. Kerr knows that Zeller isn't that much of an offensive threat, right? It's not like their guards can create their own shot at all. It's a WAY better option that having those perimeter guys try to create shots.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) NW to retain Carmody. NCAAs 2013!!!! Maybe 2014. I have a hard time seeing it next year. Their backcourt should be pretty solid with Sobolewski/Cobb hopefully healthy/Crawford and a couple other serviceable guys on the bench, but the frontcourt is completely unproven. Sure, I'd take unproven over proven crap at the center spot, but losing Shurna could be a really tough adjustment.
  17. It always confused me that Smotrycz didn't play more, he's basically the perfect fit for a Princeton offense 4-man. Carmody would probably murder a litter of puppies to get that guy.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 19, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) Zoom, will our trade go through before the draft? No. I'll propose/accept it as soon as the draft is done.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 18, 2012 -> 01:36 AM) DBAHO's keepers aren't showing up. They're in there, I entered them manually. Go to the player list.
  20. Draft order and all keepers are set. Be sure to check the draft results page to make sure I didn't screw anything up.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) f***, I knew they were overrated but I still put them in my final four. Same, I just didn't like anyone in that bracket. It seems like that happens to me every year, I end up taking Missouri or Notre Dame (last year) even though I think they're Sweet 16 tops and it bites me in the ass.
  22. I feel like they gave the ball to Syracuse rather than calling a foul on that out of bounds play.
  23. I really hate that St. Louis and Memphis are playing each other in the first round. Those were two of the lower seeds I liked.
