  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Apparently Cooper likes Jackson - @cst_sox - Cooper has liked Jackson for awhile - so flipping the pitcher is by no means the end game. Think "Thornton Project II." Nothing quite like a project with 5 years of service and an $8.35M pricetag that costs you your #1 prospect and another of your top pitching prospects.
  2. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) Everyone relax there is more coming judge this trade after the smoke clears. KW is not stupid!!!! Regardless of what comes next it's still an overpay.
  3. This is really disappointing, lets just hope it's not over.
  4. Looks like it's done: TBrownYahoo Edwin Jackson has been told he's been traded to the White Sox. Flip to DC next? 2 minutes ago via web Retweeted by mlbtraderumors and 2 others
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) If Myers is good, nobody will say anything. I'll be honest: I would not be able to root for him, I just can't. He's scum.
  6. BNightengale #mlb #white sox Sox GM Kenny Williams, the king of the trade deadline, is quietly exploring possibility of acquring Brett Myers from Astros 1 minute ago via web Man, it would really suck having such a piece of s*** on the ballclub. Can we please avoid players that I'm forced to actively root against?
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) What have been the velocity readings on Jackson since the no-hitter? Has he sustained a loss since going almost 150 pitches in that outing? Same velocity as always.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Cowley - Here's what I've just been told - "If [KW] pulls this off, the Sox will be considerably better by tonight.'' f*** you Cowley for getting my hopes up to unspeakable levels right now, I don't know how I'm going to recover from the let down when we just acquire Jackson.
  9. You know what would be shocking? Acquiring a right handed piece of s*** ballplayer like Jose Guillen.
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) As much as everybody is groaning about the tension.... this is great ****. Prime time drama is nothing compared to this. Come on KW... deliver the goods!! Meanwhile, it's like an accident on the side of the road... Not sure we want to see the result, but can't help watching. I am loving this.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) unless there's a bat out there with a big contract that JR said KW could take a vast majority or he stuns everyone and trades someone off the MLB roster Santos does have huge trade value IMO, would be selling very high on him if he were flipped as part of a package for a bat.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) Who the heck could we be grabbing? I can't think of any big name guys out there. Would the Indians deal us Carmona? Are we about to acquire Prince Fielder for Hudson and other pitching? Please tell me Bautista isn't the guy we are gonig to get? All I know is, if we trade Huddy for a bat, Kenny won't be done and than we have to wonder what pitcher is on its way. The one thing I like about getting a pitcher like Jackson is that I think he could be effective in the post-season, when power pitching becomes more king. I just wish we would be able to acquire him without giving up Huddy, thus allowing the Sox to package Huddy for a big bat. That's why I find this interesting: cst_sox Jackson-Hudson deal is not off, it's just being delayed while KW tries to shock the world. Hudson for Jackson might still happen either way. 7 minutes ago via web I don't know if that's personally opinion, confusion or good info but it's interesting none the less. KW somehow picks up a bat without including Hudson then still flips Hudson for starter.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) I still think it will be Tony Pena starting tonight. No way Torres starts after going 75 pitches last night. Harrell's already on the 40 man is scheduled to go tonight for Charlotte, he makes the most sense as of right now even if he does suck.
  14. BNightengale #mlb #astros The Astros are very much willing to move Berkman, but there is no urgency, knowing he will clear waivers and be traded in Aug. half a minute ago via web
  15. Dunn's not out of the picture just yet: Ken_Rosenthal Source: Dunn still in play for #WhiteSox, poss 3-way with #D-backs, Jackson would go to #Nationals - or if deal fails, end up with #WhiteSox. Deal in #Nationals' hands. #WhiteSox's Hudson ends up with #Diamondbacks either way. Highly unlikely to start tonight. I expect Harrell is in Chicago or on his way now. Can't imagine Pena getting a spot start but who knows.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) I have to imagine, if the Sox did give up Hudson, we would be getting some decent amounts of cash back. Not so much: BNightengale #mlb # If deal gets done, the White Sox would send Daniel Hudson and prospect for Jackson, and take on Jackson's entire $8.75 million salary 1 minute ago via web The D-Backs are in no position to include cash.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) ERA bites people in the ass once again. A 4.3 FIP starter for the past two years at the back end of your rotation is more than acceptable. That said, Hudson was probably due for a 4.5 FIP this year... That would be my biggest problem with this, not that Jackson is a horrible pitcher (though he's overpaid at $8.35M) but that you're giving up 6.3 years of Hudson (3.3-4.3 super cheap) for 1.3 of Jackson (0 cheap) when one could argue that they're comparable pitchers going forward.
  18. So lets just say for a second that Cowley ISN'T full of s***, have we witnessed some incredibly impressive controlled leaks from the Sox front office to force the hand of another club?
  19. Oh f***ing hell this is getting ridiculous: cst_sox Hold off on the Jackson trade folks, KW has something big cooking and if he gets it done Jackson trade is off. 2 minutes ago via API
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) You'd think 4 straight months of being atrocious at the plate is a good enough sample size for Ozzie to seriously diminish his workload...but I guess not. Of the 220 players with at least 250 PA this season our DH ranks 202nd in OPS. Oh and he's 273rd in AVG with RISP (min 50 PA), yes that's the worst in baseball. Kotsay is reaching epic levels of bad.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:51 AM) Here's the Castro/AJ issue worth pointing out, and I'm surprised no one has noted it yet. In most previous years with AJ and a RH backup catcher, Ozzie has treated it like a near platoon. Unless we face about 3 lefty starters in a row, AJ would sit against LH starting pitching. This year for some reason, Castro's been named Garcia's private catcher (thus ending any chance for Buehrle to throw another perfect game), and AJ has caught for everyone else. Now, we're no longer playing matchups, we're just going based on who's starting for the Sox. Now, it's possible that everyone else just hates throwing to Castro, which we haven't heard so far. But, without that, AJ has a .548 OPS against lefties and a .654 OPS against righties. Granted his numbers against righties still suck, but his numbers against lefties uber-suck, while Castro for his career, and especially this season, has feasted on lefties (.803 career OPS against lefties). Yeah, sometimes I get tired of Ozzie playing matchups all the time, but here, he's got a roster constructed to give him an advantage by using matchups, and he's not using it. And AJ happens to be having his worst ever season against left handed pitching (.188/.243/.304/.548, .248 wOBA) which is hardly surprising given this is the worst offensive season of his career.
  22. Looks like this thing is happening: BNightengale #mlob #whitesox #diamondbacks Club officials from the Sox and D-backs are confirming they are close to a deal, sending Edwin Jackson to Sox 4 minutes ago via web
  23. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Not to mention, the Phillies have practically emptied their farm systems the last few years and would probably love to restock some prospects. That's the same reasoning behind the Cliff Lee trade, it's a solid plan for the future but it's a tough sell for a contending team especially one that doesn't currently hold a playoff position.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) Are they? I know Brooks goes game by game, but I can sort by date on Texas Leaguers. They're the same basic idea but both has things that the other doesn't.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Not a bad tool. I like to use TexasLeaguers. They're really 2 different things. (TL and BB that is)
