Imagine bitching about overreactions in game threads in 2021. I've been on this site for 17 years, the game threads have sucked for 17 years, game threads by their very nature will inherently suck, there is no getting around this.

**COMICALLY EXAGERATED WANKING MOTION**

I'm confident they'll win between 85 and 98 games, I went pessimist in the poll so I would be right if they end up sucking. I very much hope I look extremely stupid 6 months from now.

4-1 GT: CWS @ LAA (9:05 PM CT)
Kalapse replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2021 Season in Review
I'm very excited to watch Lucas Giolito pitch in a game that matters again. It's such a damn treat. I'm also uneasy about this lineup minus Eloy, could very easily see them missing oomph. I don't really care that Vaughn's not playing today, I don't think it's necessarily a sign of anything since it is Opening Day after all. That being said I don't trust LaRussa so maybe Collins is the primary DH against righties and they don't trust Vaughn enough to start him in LF, I'm just not going to worry about it on Opening Day. -
ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))
Kalapse replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They don’t use the word “trade” in the CBA, if you read the passage above: “such contract may be assigned for other Player contracts and/or cash consideration” that’s referring to a trade. -

I think this is the relevant section from the CBA: -
The Trevor Bauer initiative
-
The very bad Matt Reynolds hit that oppo homerun, not Mendick.

Cade McClure and Bennett Sousa expected to pitch today.

I'm excited to overreact to actual on field play as a nice change of pace.

Only JR knew of new TLR DUI upon interview and hire
Kalapse replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Counterproductive for whom? What exactly is our digestion of the new sordid details of this embarrassment holding back? If the facts of this hire are affecting the players then that sounds like more of an issue with the coach than with the discussion surrounding it. Every new fact that comes out is fair game and should absolutely be amplified, we deserve to know exactly how all this went down, if we have to deal with this bullshit going forward then I want the Sox to have to sweat every last detail of this fiasco, Why in the hell would you just sweep it under the rug for them? This organization has done nothing to deserve that level of respect. They need to speak to all of it. -
The only hyperbole on this thread comes from your post, some stupid bullshit that adds nothing to the discussion.

So maybe we don’t need another reliable starter after all

1st chart, 4th player -
It's hard to believe but Elvis Andrus is actually a few months younger than Khris Davis.

So it can live on here in posterity:

So just checking in. Looks like Fathom has reached the acceptance stage. I commend you, man. I'm dying to get there too.
-
You could have spent without hiring TLR, if they spend this offseason it'll be spun that way but nothing was stopping them from spending with Sandy Alomar as the manager.
-
Whelp, I honestly can't think of a positive side to this. Sorry guys.

To hold up Nick Madrigal's .376 OBP as some kind of indicator that he's going to get on base a lot in the future is disingenuous, that came with a .036 ISOd (OBP-AVG), if he were actually any good at getting on base he'd have a .400 OBP with a .340 batting average. A 12% BB rate being the backbone of a .376 OBP is sustainable, a .340 average propping it up is not. Madrigal proved he was good at only 1 thing last year and that's hitting singles, he was bad at everything else a baseball player is asked to do on the field. He could absolutely get better and have a high BB rate in the future but last year was no indication that it's going to happen.
-
This is not how you use OBP
-
Definitely not feeling any better.

No shit, I don't love him either but I'm getting a lot more comfortable with Hinch the closer we get to a TLR signing. If this was the purpose of involving LaRussa's name in this then it worked.
-
Yes, this is what I'm getting at. Ricky allowed his guys to do it then threw at Contreras, what's TLR going to do in those situations? I have a think I know what Hinch would do.
-
I know it's not a pre-requisite for winning but I'd prefer my manager get along with the players. Yes, Billy Martin. I do not care. There's zero reason to bring any friction into the clubhouse beyond a manager with a firmer hand than Ricky.
