QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) That is when I wanted him gone. A month into the season. Knew all along this was going to happen. Like I said though, he would be good on the bench as a PH power option (OPS). nothing else. How do you not get this? No team is going to trade for him after 1 month of the season especially after how badly he fell of last year. How can you possibly believe that you're the only one that saw his downfall as an inevitability? You also don't make ANY trades on May 4th, that's just not how it works.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/clif...ors-sunday.html Apparently the Cardinals, Yankees, Mets and Twins seem the most interested so far I'd remove the Yankees (who make little sense as a destination) and add the Phillies who seem to have quit a bit of interest in re-acquiring him.

Jeff Passan is on fire today. Reading his tweets; he's legitimately furious that Infante made the team and then this: Infante could be the worst All-Star pick ever (Rios and Konerko get a mention)

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) Good. I didn't see his name listed earlier. We get no respect anyway. I don't want to see the Ty Wigginton's and Fausto Carmona's of the world making a game that's supposed to represent the best baseball has to offer out of obligation. Lance Carter and Mike Williams will forever be known as All-Stars.

Ugh, Bleacher Report. I really wish people wouldn't take that site as seriously as they do.

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) I would imagine he made it only due to his versatility. Still, I can't believe he made it over Votto. Infante's hitting .353/.400/.412/.812 vs the Phillies this season. There's your explanation. It's a 34 player roster, versatility truly has no place in this game.
-
There's a reason why this game really means nothing to a large portion of the fans. It's just real hard to care about something as poorly conceived as the f***ing All-Star game.
-
What could possibly be the justification for taking Infante? He has 176 f***ing plate appearances. And THIS is why I'm not watching.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) I like Erick Threets a lot more than Randy Williams. Randy Williams only had 3 outings this season where he went at least 1 inning and allowed 1 baserunner or less. Threets already has 2. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) Have I mentioned before this team is boring (btw, this usually starts a Sox rally)? It's really one of the big reasons why I want this team to pick up another bat: this team just isn't very entertaining. -
Bosh really isn't looking good in all of this PDcavsinsider NBA execs I've talked to confirm Raptors started souring on sign-and-trade for Bosh on Friday. Bosh has not been communicating with TOR. 3 minutes ago via web PDcavsinsider No sign-and-trade would cost Bosh millions, limit options. But 1 exec said it wasn't dead, Raps just turned off at moment by Bosh behavior. 1 minute ago via web

And now Vizquel's playing time is starting to come down. He had the 2nd game of the Royals series off and now the 2nd game of the Texas series. His very good June numbers have now slipped down to .260/.318/.364/.681 and .225/.262/.300/.562 over his last 10 starts. I'm glad we road his hot streak for all it was worth but he's reverting back to his true self and that guy has no business getting everyday player ABs for an AL club. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) The only thing I've seen about Bobby is that he went to go and tend to his wife. I didn't see anything about a death in the family, I guess they are trying to keep it personal It really is none of our business. We have no right to know.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) Cleveland is planning a parade of fans outside of the building LeBron has been holding his meetings at. I really hope he doesn't get all sentimental and make an emotional decision before we even get in there to meet with him... I like how they're basically trying to guilt him into staying.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) jalenrose #NBA Breaking News(rumor has it)FA's Wade/Bosh hv made up their minds to play AGAINST Lebron so don't expect all 3 to play 2gether! WOW. 3 minutes ago via UberTwitter Is it just me or has this tweet mysteriously disappeared?

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) Yeah, cuz I was disputing Albert's greatness. Right. There has been times where Albert hasn't homered in 20 days or so and HRs are obviously what makes him special. Some of it is probably credited to the inconsistent Holliday behind him. I would go with Rolen or Votto over him now, because the Reds are in first. That may not last, but I don't think a guy can be an MVP unless his team wins the division or at least makes the playoffs. You say Pujols is up and down like it somehow hurts his case for MVP compared to Rolen who has been far more inconsistent. If you don't think he deserves it because he's not on a first place team then that's fine but a 16 game homer-less streak means next to nothing especially when you're comparing him to Scott Rolen. I hate the implication that one player is more "clutch" than the other like that means anything. You can just throw it out there for any good player in baseball without having to back it up, it's pointless. If you look at "clutch stats" (not saying you should) such as RISP, RISP w/ 2 out, close & late and high leverage situations Votto and Pujols blow Rolen out of the water, WPA swings in Votto's favor.
-
Hehe, clutch. That's funny. Scott Rolen gets an edge because he's more "clutch" than Votto and Pujols. A "down" month for Albert Pujols is a .300 AVG, .940 OPS and .390 wOBA.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) Since May 22nd, Beckham is 27/109 (.248/.261/.431/.692) with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 1 homer. Not entirely horrible...for all the hemming and hawing about him seemingly having it and losing it, that resembles an actual major league line for a little over a month. I feel as though I'm missing something here, using his BR gamelog Beckham is 27/112 with a .241/.263/.348/.611 line with 7 doubles, a triple and a HR since June 22nd. Just to prove it out: 27 H - 9 XBH = 18 TB 7 doubles x 2 = 14 TB 1 triple x 3 = 3 TB 1 HR x 4 = 4 TB 18+14+3+4= 39 TB 39 TB / 112 AB = .348 SLG even if it were 109 AB: 39 TB / 109 AB = .358 SLG Your slugging percentage is off by nearly 100 points. EDIT: oh and his K:BB since May 22nd: 19:2. That's outrageously bad.

I still would love to see an answer to this question: QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) I still want to know why Geoff Blum doesn't get a lifetime pass. His homer is what basically turned a potentially longer series into a sweep.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) Williams had options? f***, I had no idea. With these mid 30 year old relievers that have spent over a decade in the minors with countless organization it's just impossible to know. If I had to guess I'd say we just burned his final option at least that's what the limited research I did in the offseason told me.

Apparently Versteeg has been dealt to the Leafs. Real_ESPNLeBrun Leafs get Versteeg and the rights to winger Bill Sweatt in exchange for forwards Viktor Stalberg, Chris DiDomenico and Philippe Paradis

Isn't this the same guy who's had significant difficulties simply catching the baseball over his career?

QUOTE (since56 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) We got rid of Thome ( a left handed home run hitter ) so Ozzie could get away from an everyday dh. Now we are going after Dunn ( a left handed home run hitter ) to make him our everyday dh? I don't get it. If we are committed to a new style of play then lets commit, and get past the slow strikeout guys in the middle of our lineup. Adam Dunn is arguably faster than Mark Kotsay. I really don't know why people think Kosay is anything but slow, he's also a pretty s***ty baserunner from what I've seen.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) I agree it'd be nice to get Gordon back on track somehow, but we don't have the luxury to wait for Gordon to get back on track anymore. We're in the thick of the race, it'll be July as of tomorrow, and we need our best lineup out there. Right now, that lineup doesn't include him. Hey, Gordon's hitting .333/.353/.800/1.153 over his last 5 games!
