  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) My DVR says 2 episodes tonight. Will it be like that every week. I'm gonna give it a shot since it is after Rescue Me, but did not like his HBO show. Yes, 2 a week. Heard Louis say that in an interview last week.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) Kalapse can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've gotten the impression that we have cut some salary this year compared to last, and last year we dumped 2 players at the end of the season to save about $2 million in salary as well. Taking the $2M dump into consideration the payrolls are basically equal. $102,117,000 last year and $99,575,000 this year. Dock that $2M from last years and they're off by about half a million.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) He really suggested that? He floated the idea at the end of September last season. I'm just reminiscing.
  5. Heh, Peavy for Zambrano. Phil Rogers, you're a f***ing moron.
  6. Jim Thome was talked about for about a week before the deal got done, the only surprising things about that deal were how quickly it got done (the day before Thanksgiving) and that Rowand was a part of the trade. Same goes for Vazquez. There's more but I've forgotten them over the years, I'm sure a google search would come up with some of my posts over the years chronicling this sort of thing.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) Danks1 + Danks2 + Viciedo + Santos for Fielder - would you do it? Not a chance
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) So I guess he'd get some nice pitches hitting between Rios and Paulie. It'd be interesting to see where he hits considering how well Quentin is hitting right now (.275/.376/.625/1.001, .426 wOBA in June). He should be well protected in the middle of our lineup hitting between Konerko and Quentin.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Yeah and he played about the same way he did when he wasn't in a race with Cincinnati. He basically matched his career numbers with them. He was also consistently being pitched around to get to Reynolds and Tracy who did next to nothing in the final 2 months of the season in '08, Dunn's walk rate with the D-Backs was nearly 30%.
  10. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) Is anyone here concerned about Dunn's strike outs and decreasing walk rate? Plus the .276 batting average is the highest of his career. Which could account for the decreased walk rate, he's only walked 8 times in the month of June but he's hitting .300, he's been making a conscience effort to put the ball in play more, not sure how long that will last since it's just not his game. I could care less about strikeouts when he's putting up a near .400 wOBA. I don't see much more upside in an infield popup compared to K. With Dunn also comes the shift which means next to no double plays, keep that in mind also.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Tony Saunders. Tampa Bay. Twice.
  12. The Blue Jays got a sup. pick and a 3rd rounder for Type A free agent AJ Burnett in the 2009 draft, f***ing Yankees. The Angels took their 1st for Tex and Milwaukee got their 2nd for Sabathia that left the 3rd as the highest pick available.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) Yes, Dunn will be a type FA, and yes, he'll be offered arbitration. If he accepts arbitration, his $12 million/1 year salary is low enough that any other team out there needing a 1b/DH will still be happy to trade for him next year. Yeah, there's very little question that Adam Dunn will get you 2 draft picks at the end of the year.
  14. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 04:25 AM) Maybe about 5-10 years ago a half season rental would get you top prospects but that's not really the case anymore. Phillly wouldn't give Drabek, Brown, or Taylor for Halladay last year why should the Sox have to give up their top guys for a less valuable Dunn? I doubt Hudson, Flowers, or Viciedo would be included in a Dunn deal. I could see Morel, Torres and a younger pitcher with high potential being dealt. Because the Phillies caved and traded Drabek, Brown and Travis d'Arnaud for Halladay? Rob Bryson, Zach Jackson, Matt LaPorta and Michael Brantley for CC Sabathia (7/7/08) (half season rental) Carlos Gonzalez, Greg Smith and Huston Street for Matt Holliday (11/10/08) (full season rental) Brett Wallace, Shane Peterson, Clayton Mortensen for Matt Holliday (7/24/09) (half season then extension) Justin Masterson, Nick Hagadone for Victor Martinez (7/31/09) (half season then extension) Chris Perez and Jess Todd for Mark DeRosa (6/27/09) (half season rental) Matt LaPorta (#1 prospect, MLB:22), Carlos Gonzalez (#1 prospect, MLB:27), Brett Wallace (#2 prospect, MLB:40), Justin Masterson (#4 prospect, 2008, MLB:64), Chris Perez (#3 prospect, MLB:97)
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Zumaya just f***ed his arm. Down on the ground and done for the season, is my guess, And LaRoche just blew a game for the D-Backs on defense, horrible throw scores the tying and winning run in the bottom of the 9th.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) Quentin's wOBA is now at .348. He was at .310 not too long ago. Yeah, I'm relatively confident that he's back.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Well, he got a base hit today and just missed a home run....but yeah, the road to hell is paved with almost home runs... 7 XBH this month after having 7 in the first 6 games of May alone. His ISO last month was about .355, this month it's down around .120.
  18. The scary thing is that the correction is well underway for Rios, his numbers are coming back down to his career norms and we still have a ways to go until they get there. I'm not sure we can survive a Rios rough patch, even if Quentin is tearing the cover off the ball.
  19. This game feels like a bad, bad omen. One of the worst teams in the league tries to give you the game and you don't take it. Scary s***.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Funny thing is, he probably thinks he's hot s*** over there. It's amazing just how horrible he is given he had the reputation for being a defensive wiz while playing for Seattle.
