  1. One of the greatest players of all time doing occasionally isn't exactly a 1:1 comparison. I was also legit asking, I suspect he doesn't love them but I don't know that.
  2. Anyone know TLR's take on batflips? The Sox are having a TA batflip bobblehead day next year, that style of play and flare is a signature of this team.
  3. So you didn't actually read any of it, you're just assuming that it's nothing?
  4. I don't hate Jackie Bradley Jr. he's still elite defensively (tied Robert for highest OOA among outfielders last season) and could fit as the strong side of a platoon with Engel. The problem is someone might pay him based on his 2020 offense which was a clear outlier. If the price was right he'd be a nice fit as a defense first approach to the position.
  5. Their owner is a "meddler" so maybe they'd be open to trading their extremely well respected manager of 1 year for some trash. Yes, I hear you and I'm with you.
  6. I care but I don't think I care enough for it to bother me if he's the best man for the job, I just want a good manager and for the Sox to win a lot of games.
  7. Tony La Russa is 76 years old, he's not managing the Sox next year. Just look at the way that article is written, it's fluff to make it seem like La Russa isn't a decaying corpse, there's nothing critical about it, he's writing PR for Tony. It's a favor.
  8. It's Jerry doing a favor for La Russa, the Sox are hiring Hinch. That Nightengale article is so bad, Bob truly is the worst around “Ultimately, I think the best candidate or the ideal candidate,’’ Hahn said, “is going to be someone who has experience with a championship organization in recent years, recent October experience with a championship organization.’’ Yes, that’s Tony La Russa. No, Bob, 2011 is not "recent", such fluff garbage.
  9. If they're not ready to sign a big one year deal then the rebuild never ended.
  10. That's kind of all he did, everything else is sorely lacking. I don't think he's a playoff caliber player right now at all.
  11. Yeah, they're just using 2020 records.
  12. No one cares, you egomaniac. Fucking get over yourself, you've now taken to needling people when they don't take your bait, you actively make the board worse every time you post.
  13. Oh yeah, forgot about that, still not going to matter at all in the long term.
  14. It'll have no impact on his service time, he'll only accrue like 9 days of service, considering he's still going to be a starter long term the Sox will hold him down plenty to get the extra year of control, all it will require is a few weeks. The only thing it does is force them to start using his options next year so he'll run out sooner than if they hadn't called him up this year.
  15. This is the relevant section from MLB.com: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility#:~:text=Players must be on a,is eligible for the postseason. The answer, I believe, is yes because he was with the organization on 8/31 and on the 60 man.
  16. Yes but it looks like he could still be added in place of an injury since he was with the organization on August 31st.
  17. It really is a September call up sort of move since we're in solid control of the central, can't hurt to get him big league innings in a pennant race.
  18. I'm 100% in favor of this move though if they were willing to call him up I wish they could have done it earlier in the month, give him a long look prior to the playoffs, he's exactly the type of reliever that could dominate a playoff series.
