  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Awesome stat...does it say how many times Pierre has grounded out to 2b? 38 Kotsay has 23
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) Beckham's league-leading 25th ground out to the pitcher! 9th to be exact, gotta be near the top of the league.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) No prayer against Hudson if he's getting this strike zone. That was a truly horrible call.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) Ubaldo Jimenez getting hit hard by the bums on the Red Sox. God bless the NL! See that outfield they're running out there? Nava, McDonald, Reddick, I saw this at the beginning of the Rox broadcast then they showed the infield: Beltre, Scutaro, Pedroia, Ortiz, Martinez and I understood why they might be able to get away with such an outfield.
  5. I was looking at some splits on BR and came across this: the Mariners are getting a .182/.241/.275/.516 line out of their DH this season and then who would have guessed this after the year Lind had last season: Toronto DH's are hitting .203/.267/.341/.608 second worst in the league.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) Kalapse, an Ozzie special going on in Arizona. 4 outs on the bases in the first inning between the teams. That's my B game for the night, yes dreadful. I do love me some Dontrelle though, he's a blast to watch.
  7. This is going to sound pessimistic but I do not mean it to be, I just find it interesting. I looked up Buehrle's quality starts this season and these were the opponents: TOR, CLE, PIT, CLE, FLA, CHC and then his other outings: TBR, TEX, CLE, NYY, KCR, MIN, TEX
  8. Disturbing stat of the night: Tim Hudson has allowed now more than 3 earned runs in any start this season
  9. Some Twitter updates: MDGonzales Lights went out at U.S. Cellular 3 minutes ago via web scottmerkin Expectations from Roger Bossard, courtesy of White Sox media relations, is game will be played tonight sooner rather than later 5 minutes ago via web MDGonzales Sox expected to play but no update till 7:30 p.m. 6 minutes ago via web InsideTheSox Don't give up on the #WhiteSox game yet! Roger says the storms are moving fast and he thinks there will be baseball tonight. 37 minutes ago via TweetDeck
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Isnt Kotsay supposed to be a plus fielder at 1B and he is left handed, why wouldnt he be there and give Konerko some rest being the DH? He's barely even played the position in his career. He'd only started 20 games at 1B before coming to the White Sox, I have no idea how he developed this reputation. From what I've seen of him this season in all facets of the game, I'd like to limit the amount of time he actually spends on the field of play to as little as possible. He really only has a negative impact when he steps out of that box.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I really doubt that there was no interest in AJ at all.. and even so, there would be more interest in July than there is in late May I'm sure there was some but there aren't a lot of teams out there looking for an everyday catcher especially in the middle of June and on top of it KW had very little leverage; any GM he talked to was aware of AJ's pending 10/5 rights knowing that if KW wanted to deal him hassle free it'd have to be before they kick in so any return for him would have been so low that it really wouldn't be worth it.
  12. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) hello brian anderson, joe borchard, josh fields. who was the last Sox first round pick to come through their farm system and have success in the majors? can't think of any recent ones if they don't send beckham down soon, I am afraid we will see his name in that infamous group soon. Gio Gonzalez - supplemental pick of the White Sox in 2004 having a very nice season for the A's. That's about it dating back to Kip Wells and Aaron Rowand in 1998.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Viciedo hasn't shown anywhere near the success Colvin did when Stone ripped Piniella's use of him. It's hard to build up success when he's played only 5 plate appearances. Beyond that, Vizquel has been playing very well of late. Viciedo should play tomorrow, since it's a day game after a night game. How about Kotsay and Beckham?
  14. $7M on a 1 year deal is still about double what he'd get on the open market, in other words: a tremendous overpay and AJ would accept the second it's offered. There's just no way in hell he's offered arbitration not when he'd be looking at 2 years, $6M-$7M on the open market and a guaranteed $7M+ for 1 year in arbitration. Not to mention the fact that we're already going to be cash strapped in 2011, we can't afford to pay a mid 30's catcher twice what he's worth. And the #1 reason KW didn't trade AJ: lack of a market.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Will Viciedo be the downfall of Ken or Oz? It's obvious Kenny didn't even consult Oz before bringing him up. Isn't it apparent Oz remains in love with Omar and Viciedo will not play? This has nothing to do with Omar since he needs to be in the lineup everyday and since he can play 3 infield positions it's not hard to fit him in there. The problem is; Gordon Beckham is playing horrible baseball and Mark Kotsay is still getting WAY too many AB's in the DH spot. Viciedo - 3B, Vizquel - 2B, Kotsay - DH or Vizquel - 3B, Beckham - 2B, Viciedo - DH. PICK ONE. We can't just keep putting Kotsay in the DH spot because he hits left handed, that's silliness he's been a terrible all-around baseball player this season and mediocre at best over the past 3 years.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) And what about Morneau? He'd start and the other 3 would make it as reserves since there's no DH's worthy of a reserve role (since Vlad is starting). The only question would be: will they carry 3 extra 1B/DH, they carried 2 in '08, 3 in '05 and 3 in '03.
  17. Even if he's only going to play once a week at least Viciedo is getting some valuable work with our big league instructors since that's worked out so well with our other young hitters.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) You can get them at ESPN.com, just go to the team stats and sort by position. The issue with them is...they're including everyone who has played SS, including people who have sucked as replacements/bench players. Of course, this does appear to be a down season for SS stats as of now, but here's a different way to look at Alexei's bat so far: Alexei Ramirez has an OPS 20 points lower than Yuniesky Betancourt. ESPN tends to have some inaccurate stats, especially splits. Stick with baseballreference.com
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) Really? His UZR is far and away the highest of any SS in the league (6.3 compared to the 3.8 of Scutaro).
