  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) It's absolutely incredible to see the player Rios has been this year versus the player he was last year. I knew he was capable of this, but it still is difficult to believe my eyes at times. Outside of him coming over and inspiring a playoff run last year, this has been the absolute best-case scenario from that waiver claim. This is the best he's hit since his hellaceous start to the 2006 season. Unfortunately in '06 he contracted a staph infection, missed a month and just wasn't the same when he returned. He hit .330/.383/.585/.968 through his first 72 games that season, hit the DL and put up a .261/.297/.411/.709 line the rest of the way. He's an absolute pleasure to watch. It's just fun to have a 5 tool player in the lineup everyday, we don't get a lot of guys like that.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) So far in our second go 'round vs Duke: 1.000/1.000/2.000/3.000, RBI, 3B 1.000/1.000/1.667/2.667, 2 RBI, 3B
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) Ooh, I like So far in our second go 'round vs Duke: 1.000/1.000/2.000/3.000, RBI, 3B
  4. QUOTE (black jack @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) How long was Rio's in Wrigley? Thought that was a bomb? 407 (true distance) to dead left, that is most definitely a bomb.
  5. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) 1 hit through 3 innings against this stiff: W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HB BB SO AVG WHIP GO/AO SEASON 3 7 5.30 13 13 0 0 0 0 74.2 103 50 44 12 2 26 48 .331 1.73 1.85 First time around vs Duke: .275/.325/.422/.747 Second time around: .370/.414/.583/.997 Third time around: .310/.379/.560/.938
  6. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) Even if hes "healthy" I'd shut him down till after the break and just let Hudson take over Except Jake Peavy would never go for that and yes he does have a say.
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) This isn't a surprise at all, the way his velocity has been. If he needs surgery I hope it's TJ rather than his shoulder. Just looking back over his last 3 starts he's throwing just about as hard right now as he was with the Padres in June of last season.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Ok in all seriousness if this is something bad he doesn't pitch day after his scheduled start. This is exactly right. We're not talking about him being shut down just yet or even scratching his next start, as of right now he's being pushed back a day or 2. Nothing that I've heard or read so far suggests that his arm is "f***ed".
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) He had an astonishing lack of opposite field home runs his last few years with the Sox. 3 of his final 66 HR were to the opposite field and those were to center-right-center.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) Whomever started yesterday's thread has privilege, at least until say 6pm. Meantime, you can post the lineup here if you'd like. Game starts at 6 so I'd say they have until 5 to get it up there.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) Yeah, I agree, long-term. Johnson is only signed through the end of the year. So if you DFA'd Nix, you could use Johnson as a 2b, utility OF, DH for the remainder of the year while possibly sending down Beckham. You could even trade or DFA Andruw if need be. Depends on what the price is too obviously. I doubt Byrnes would give him away without getting a solid prospect back (which we do not have many of). Johnson will be arbitration eligible in 2011. It'd take a very good prospect to nab him. He's also a below average defensive 2B.
  12. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) LOL thats like the first thing i do when i get a game, tear that pesky plastic off and sniff that instruction manual I do the same.
  13. Beckham's 9th multi-hit game in 56 starts this season, he has no 3 hit games. That's 16% of his starts. Last season Beckham had 28 multi-hit games in 102 starts. That's 27% of his starts. 8 of those multi-hit games were of the 3 hit variety.
  14. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) lol true save percentage Hey, sometimes mainstream stats need a slight tweaking (nothing too complicated) to benefit the mainstream fan. That's what true save percentage does.
  15. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) I do not understand why Kalapse hates Jenks so much Honestly, I just did that so Greg could quote me after the game. Good for Bobby he's now up to 81.25% in true save percentage that moves him into the bottom 33 percentile.
  16. Well the extra run should come in handy, it means Bobby can allow 3 runners to reach base in the bottom of the 9th and some how work his way out of it with a 1 run victory.
  17. I absolutely hate the way Andruw Jones swings the bat. Just horrible.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) I wish we had Carrasco back. Although that might have meant no Sergio Santos, or better yet, no Randy Williams. Carlos Torres really should be able to fill that role, unfortunately he's toiling in AAA for god knows what reason.
  19. Freddy against a last place team = a recipe for disaster.
  20. I've never played Sly Cooper before but by all accounts it's a very good series. If they price the remastered PS3 bundle at $40 I'll probably pull the trigger. I absolutely love what they're doing with the classic titles.
