  1. Oh yeah, that's right the Pirates suck. Big game Freddy has had trouble getting up for the bad clubs.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Who lifts their XBox while they are playing it? All it takes is a bump.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) And the fact that we face a LHP tomorrow Even MORE odd: just looked up the numbers and Castro is 3 for 7 with a HR lifetime vs Duke (AJ's 1 for 3). Also: this year at Indy lefties hit .274 off Lincoln and righties hit .156. My guess: AJ's a little sore after being hit in back to back games and Ozzie's giving him an extra day to recoup.
  4. Well, if AJ were traded today or tomorrow it'd make Ozzie look awfully bad considering his comments today. From Cowley via twitter:
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Where did that lineup come from? I don't see it posted on espn or the Sox homepage. http://twitter.com/MDGonzales
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) I think expectations for Gordon have dropped however, I mean he is currently sporting OPS of .538, can he turn in around to become .800 OPS second baseman? His defense will be above average I think. PS. Where can i find monthly splits of one's season? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...ar=2010&t=b 5th section down. If you want any other player just do a site search for his name, select the year on the splits drop down menu and you're set.
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) Gordon Beckham was never going to be Alex Rodriguez production wise at 3B, but many believed he had a chance to be Chase Utley production wise at 2B. That was last year of course. Chase Utley has the highest career OPS of any 2B in baseball history. Career slash stats similar to those of Robbie Alomar (.300/.371/.443/.814) would be awesome especially if he turns into the above average defender at 2B that many believe he will be.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Not when you've only got two legitimate hitters in the lineup. Hot streak, pitching wise. We'll still lose around 50% of those games.
  9. His FIP is at 4.45 and an xFIP of 4.24. That's the best indicator of future success and according to those numbers you're going to see that ERA come WAY down as the year goes on. The best outlook is Gavin Floyd: 3.80 FIP and 3.97 xFIP. There's been a lot of bad luck with our starters this season, we should be in for a big hot streak.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Flowers 5 HR in his last 7 games. 6 Ks in 24 AB (25%) over that same stretch.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) Alexei Ramirez is a legitimate shortstop. The OPS among all SS's in the MLB is .696. Alexei is at .686 right now and, considering he's eclipsed that in the past two seasons and he's heating up like he normally does, it wouldn't be shocking to see him do it again. He's also solid defensively too. Alexei Ramirez is better than your league average shortstop. Considering what he produces and how much he costs, he's really the least of the Sox concerns. He's hitting .277/.327/.438/.764 since May first, plays an above average SS and makes $1.1M. Sure he has a minuscule baseball IQ and will f*** up the occasional easy play in the field but the good far outweighs the bad. Not every player on your team is going to be an amazing all around ballplayer.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Pierre is now batting .248 with 25 stolen bases and 6 CS (which leads the league), his batting average has been going up starting around mid may after a completely brutal start that had me wanting Pierre dumped for a bag of balls. Pods is batting .282 with 18 stolen bases and 6 CS, and his batting average has been going down after having a torrid start which had his average above .300 until late may when he started coming back to his normal numbers. Lets stop acting like Pods would be saving our season right now if he was leading off. Pierre is the same player with a little bit better instincts on the basepaths, better defense, and less power. Juan Pierre's WAR: 0.3 Scott Podsednik's WAR: 0.2
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) And sadly, you don't see a problem with this. That's just scary.
  14. There's a ton of buzz around the Playstation Move, not sure the whole motion control thing is for me but the tech is pretty cool. Apparently Socom 4 with the Move is pretty impressive.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) I think the Yankees trading for Cliff Lee would be irresponsible on their part. Sabathia-Burnett-Pettitte-Hughes is a perfectly formidable postseason rotation, and Javy Vazquez is a good enough #5. And given that strong rotation there's no reason to give up great young talent for a guy that they can just sign 6 months from now.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I think Kal said the photos they use for the banner are no longer available, so changing it would result in a lesser quality banner. I do have some good pictures of Rios and Danks from before this season, enough to put together a banner though I am pretty limited. I played around with some designs featuring those 2 players but couldn't come up with anything I liked, I've basically had a year long creative block sans the payroll resource. I've got some free time today so I'll play around with some images of Rios and a few other guys and hopefully inspiration strikes. I do agree though, I'm f***ing sick of looking at Quentin and Ramirez.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) Is this true? Yes, I would not lie about another man's balls.
  18. Gavin Floyd did not swallow his gum in the first when Herm ran out to the mound. The real reason: Gavin's cup was pinching his balls.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) I've been against this idea all the way, but I'm getting close to the point I don't want to think about Gordon Beckham for a while. If we had ANYBODY halfway decent I might agree, but I dunno if I want to see Omar out there every day or Nix/Omar at 2B when Teahen comes back. But I understand where you all are coming from finally. It's simply depressing to watch him bat and make out after out. And that bunt try was horrid. He had to be on his own there, I'd think. I don't know about the unwritten rules of baseball, but him getting a bunt single might have been a horses*** move there. I'm not mad at Beckham for that, just sad at his overall horse-s***tiness. Bob Brenley would disagree but I have zero problem with going for the bunt single down by 1 even with the no-hitter on the line, you play to win and when you suck at hitting sometimes you have to switch it up.
  20. It's been over 200 PA since Beckham last homered. He has 8 extra-base hits in about 230 PA this season, through 230 PA last season he had 25 XBH (19 2B, 6 HR) and was hitting .308/.376/.493/.868.
  21. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) If we get to .500 and get even closer to Minny. . I wonder if KW will go hard after Fielder? I know it sounds outragous right now- but the SP has been promising. Just speaking in hypothetical terms how exactly would you pull that off without weakening said rotation?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) But could you imagine how many more homers he'd have at the Cell? Our current 3B (well, I suppose he's on the DL) has a .262/.321/.403/.724 line over his last 1351 PA.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Alex has never sniffed the sucktitude over an extended stretch that Beckham has. AG would automatically become our second best player. .250/.331/.415/.746 line over the first 1360 PA of his career for A Gordon.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) Yes, he does. By my math, the Sox have about $10 million or so to spend this offseason and will have 8+ spots to fill. You offer AJ arbitration, and he takes up $7 million+ of it. By my quick math and arb guesses I'd say $92M due to 16 players. With attendance trending downward this season we could see our $100M payroll slashed as well.
  25. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Why not, he does not make that much. If he accepts, ink a two year deal. If he declines take the draft picks, put the ball in his court for PR sake. Flowers is not pushing anyone at this point. If he accepts (which he 100% would) then he's going to arbitration, not signing a 2 year deal. He makes $6.75M and would get a raise in arbitration, a 2 year deal would net him $6M total at the most.
