  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) Call him GDPierre Here's the thing with Pierre: 5 GIDP this season, 4 in high leverage situations.
  2. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) Putz sighting! HE'S ALIVE!
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Playing hanky panky with Piazza? Kudos to Karros on that one, makes mention of it the next half inning.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Pierre have more double plays than PK this season? Sure seems so. PK: 6, JP: 5
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Pierre with just an awful series so far. That 3-0 was not a strike! Where was Karros on that one? Near identical pitch to the one thrown to Tracy.
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) You go from a guy who's 6 for 36 with RISP to a guy who's 8 for 44. 8 for 45
  7. You go from a guy who's 6 for 36 with RISP to a guy who's 8 for 44.
  8. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I think you're reaching a bit here. I'm glad he wants to be here, but we wouldn't be talking about trading players away if he (and others) were doing their jobs better. Even if he is part of the problem, so what? He'd still be 100% right in wanting out if the Sox went into rebuilding mode. s***, he even worded it as a hypothetical situation. And no, I'm not reaching at all, that's basically what you're saying: if you're not performing you shouldn't be answering media queries, there's like 5 guys on the club right now who haven't been part of the problem. AJ plays like s*** for 2 months then suggests that trade rumors have affected his play on the field. Well the only reason there are trade rumors is because the team isn't winning and his s*** play has played a part in the team losing. Seems like he shouldn't be running his mouth in this manor based on what I'm reading in this thread.
  9. That's actually my biggest problem with Alex Rios: he attempts to steal a lot of bases but always slides feet first into the center of the bag rather than head first to the back of the bag. Feet first you allow yourself no wiggle room, no adjustments can be made if the throw beats you you're out. With the head first slide you can do just as Pierre just did.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) It's fun watching the Phillies exhaust their bullpen. 5 IP, 18 ER from Phillies starters the last 2 days. Quality.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Beckham has 3 doubles in the past 4 games? Still not getting many hits, but at least he is making them count finally. At least 1 hit in 8 of his last 10 if that means a damn thing. God, I hate NL baseball.
  12. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) I think people are just annoyed with him being outspoken when he's a big part of the reason that the White Sox are probably going to be trading players this July. So no talking to the media until that ERA drops below 4? Does this apply to all players? Managers? Is there a curve? If Beckham gets his OPS up above .700 can he give the reporters a little more than "no comment"? Ok, so all position players sans Konerko and Rios are barred from speaking to the media, the only acceptable answer to any question is "no comment". And the coaching staff including Ozzie shall not speak until the team gets up above .500 or within 3 games of a playoff spot.
  13. I really, really, really hope the Sox are smart enough to avoid retribution. No need for the s*** especially with a 1 run lead and a pitcher on the mound who's had to pull a few magic acts to get out of jams.
  14. What in the hell am I missing? He goes out of his way to say how happy he is here, how he thinks we have a chance to win and how he doesn't think the Sox will be going into a rebuilding process then offers a hypothetical situation in which his current team does look to rebuild then he wouldn't want to be a part of it. My god, that's about as well as you can answer that question.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) And you guys are 100% completely missing my point. Rios didn't say "he'd look to be moved" last year and I haven't said a word about Peavy until his latest remarks. Shut the f*** up and pitch like you are capable of, then demand a trade. Don't talk like you have no blame in this thing when you're one of the main reasons we are where we are. He's not demanding s***. He was asked if he'd want to be traded if the Sox went into a full rebuilding mode and he rightfully said yeah, there ain't a damn thing wrong with that. Like I said: 6 bad starts isn't going to change who he is, if someone asks him a question he's going to give an honest answer. So what does his ERA have to get down to before he can start talking to the media? Under 4?
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) Lillibridge really gets too much s*** on this board, just saying. His 112 PA last year were some of the least productive in White Sox history and that's after he had one of the worst Spring Training's imaginable where he posted a K rate around 50% and managed something like 2 XBH oh and that was after posting a .220/.294/.344/.638 line in 400+ PA at Richmond in '08 and he's really accomplished nothing in the minors since being sent down in May of last year. I think it's pretty well deserved.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) He sure has done his part to help that effort. How anyone can defend him when he's been one of the worst pitchers in the AL is hilarious. 6 awful starts doesn't change anything. He doesn't lose his right to talk after half a dozen lousy outings after being one of the best in the game up until this season.
  18. Omar is hitting .333/.395/.515/.910 since he hinted at retirement on May 25th.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) A win would be the first 4-game winning streak, right? First since the very beginning of September last season, if we miraculously make it to 5 it'll be our longest winning streak since a 7 gamer between June 27th and July 3rd of last year.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) Kotsay is 4/24 career against Silva. And 5 for his last 39 overall dating back to the Tampa series where he made a complete ass of himself in every facet of the game.

    QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) I started watching that about a week ago, and I couldn't stop wondering how that movie got made or how anyone sat through it. I turned it off after about 15 minutes. I did the exact same thing about a year ago.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) His quote was no where near sounding like that to me. Sounds to me like a 29 year old starting pitcher who has accomplished quite a bit in his career but only has 2 postseason starts, waived his no trade clause to play for a contender and didn't sign up to play out the remaining 2 or 3 years of his prime on a decimated club in the opening phases of a full rebuild. 6 awful starts doesn't change a damn thing: Jake Peavy is still Jake Peavy, he's got a pitcher's triple crown, 2 ERA titles and a Cy Young on his resume and when he's asked by a reporter if he's willing to play out his youth in the basement of the AL Central he's going to answer honeslty: f*** no.
  23. Jamie Moyer's line today: 1 IP, 9H, 9ER, 1BB, 1K, HR, 6 2B
  24. Peavy over his last 2 outings: 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 14 IP, 7.7 H/9, 0.6 HR/9, 1.3 BB/9, 5.1 K/9, 4.00 K/BB Hey, it's a start.
  25. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) I understand, but if we trade him for prospects that means we indeed are rebuilding and that's against what Kenny said and against what Peavy 'wants'. We dumped Thome and Contreras last year and didn't rebuild. Unloading soon to be free agents for a minor leaguer or 2 while saving a little cash is a good way to "reload" or "retool" (if that's at all possible) it's not necessarily a sign of rebuilding. Unloading Rios on the other hand would signify and all out rebuilding process as he is a huge part of this team's near future, AJ on the other hand likely is not that's why it would be ok to deal him and hope to contend next season.
