  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Well, if he goes for a player that's ready to contribute now would be really nice. Mike Lowell!
  2. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Better not be true.. If KW doesn't do anything, I shall be pissed Hey, only 8 out and currently in the midst of a winning streak; this thing ain't over yet, baby! We need AJ for the stretch run!
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) This seems like more your personal perception than actual reality. I'm sorry, a 5 run lead with nobody on base in the 9th should be an automatic win 99.9% of the time. Regardless of weather conditions. Win? Sure that wasn't really in doubt but that's not my point. I really didn't want to see Bobby pitch in this game and with Linebrink going out there with a 5 run lead on a lively day at Wrigley Jenks' eventual appearance became an inevitability. With the way he looks right now I'd prefer to save Bobby for games where he is truly needed, not put his status in doubt for the next few days because Linebrink is incapable of holding a lead and Putz is 100% ready to go.
  4. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Arent we 0-4 in those games tho? Yep and we scored a total of 9 runs in those 4 games and no more than 3 in any of them.
  5. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) You should feel comfortable throwing Randy and Linebrink out there with a 5 run lead.. they have no business on the roster if you cant use them with that big of a cushion and not fear for blowing the lead.. that being said, I agree that Williams is horrible and needs to go.. ide rather have Threets up here.. If there are no other options, sure but I can't get behind it when Putz is fresh and ready to go. You have to attempt to limit Jenks and Thornton's innings and pitching Linebrink with the game well within reach is not the way to go about it.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Then I guess looking at the roster you wanted Putz. Fine. So we should never pitch Randy or Liney unless we are down by five. That's two members of the staff rendered useless. Just call for the Sox to release them. The management is to blame. If they are on the roster taking up two spots they have to be used unfortunately sometimes with a 5 run lead. And this was garbage time BTW. It's the s***ty Cubs, wind or no wind. I can't for the life of me figure out why Williams is still on the club, he serves no purpose. Having 2 garbage time relievers isn't all that bad, there are plenty of teams with more than that. And those s***ty Cubs still forced Ozzie to bring in the closer after we had an 8 run lead.
  7. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) I think Peavy is like 0-4 vs them though 0-2 with a pair of quality starts and another outing of 5 IP, 3 ER. 4 starts overall, though.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) They only want him to pitch when we have a huge lead, Jordan. Wait ... we had a huge lead today and they're mad. No, they only want him to pitch when we are down 10-2 I guess. I'd love for them to release Liney and Randy but if they are not going to release him, he has to be used. Up by 5 at Wrigley with crazy winds is not a huge lead. Just because they're on the roster doesn't mean they need to be used when the game is still within reach, there's plenty of garbage time for them to eat up innings.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) So in other words, sit Linebrink for the rest of the season? I'd prefer to use him when we're down by 5+ which is often enough that he should get regular work. That's if we MUST keep him around, given that he's still due $5.5M next year I suppose he's here for the long haul. He's a garbage time reliever, I'd prefer to see him pitch in those situations.
  10. Rios now hitting .322/.379/.588/.967 on the season and on pace for over 50 stolen bases.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) because his ERA is almost 5 and he has had some pretty bad outings this year, earlier of course.. And he's blown 3 of his few HIGH leverage outings this season.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) How can you guys say Bobby f***ing Jenks is not one of the best? Amazes me. Because he's not? Maybe you just don't follow guys like Rivera, Papelbon, Soriano and Broxton.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) I can see that line of thinking. But I can't get on Ozzie in this case. That's all Linebrink refusing to throw a f***ing strike. Except that's kind of what Linebrink does. It's like getting upset with Williams when he allows 2+ baserunners every outing, there's a track record there and you should expect them to follow it.
  14. Alright, good stuff. Would have been nice to not have to use Bobby today but I'll take a W.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) With a 5-run lead? Personally, I go with a decent reliever who hasn't pitched much of late like Putz to avoid turning a blowout into a save opportunity.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) I am. Jenks is unreliable. I'm fine with it but I am curious where the f*** Putz is.
  17. Well, lets hope Bobby keeps up his high level of play when he inevitably comes in for the save later this inning.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Lillibridge does look noticeably stronger this season, so that's promising. It looks like he has pretty decent forearms, didn't notice that last year, perhaps he's been lifting. He'll probably be in the lineup tomorrow whether it be 2B or 3B.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Who gets the 9th? I'd go with Thornton...but it will probably be Linebrink. I'd go Putz, he's worked 1 inning since the 6th.
  20. Randy Williams is still way out ahead in WHIP right now. Of ALL pitchers with at least 20 IP he's up by over 0.20 points.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) What f***ing sense does this make? I like how managing a Championship team gives you a job for life but assembling one really means nothing.
  22. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) so no Teahan or Omar this series. Nice... That's not really a good thing. Omar's hit .321/.394/.500/.894 in 35 PA with his usual awesome defense since Teahen went down.
  23. I'm going to split this out, it seems as though this saga may be coming to an end very soon.
