QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 8, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) we are learning so much about our fanbase. thankless assholes. that dude helped us win a WS. he is a hell of a man. i am sorry to see this occur to him. You don't get a free pass for the rest of your career because you helped win a f***ing world series 5 years ago. I have no problem with the fans booing him off the field, I wouldn't have done it but his performance since June of '06 has been awful.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 8, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Sucks to see Jose get booed after all he's done for us.....Hawk's right about how sad it is.....but we gotta win games. Pretty classless move by our fans booing him. Would've been a standing ovation if I were in attendance. He's just a shell form of his former self, this is quite possibly the last time he'll ever take the mound for the Sox, he deserves to go out with applause.
-
Definitely the worst contract Kenny Williams ever gave out, he got absolutely nothing for his money.
-
This is it for Jose, we may never see him pitch again in the bigs depending on what they do with him but this is his last start for the White Sox.
-
Jose really has no idea where the ball is going when it leaves his hand. Coop on the phone. Great play by Josh.
-
Wild pitch #2
-
9 outs; 70 pitches
-
Aside from his arm strength Carlos has looked really good in LF this year, a huge step up from 2008.
-
Jayson Nix with another deep AB this time 6 pitches, he's seeing 4.66 pit/PA through his first 12 PA.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) You don't promote players just cause they're a 1st round pick in baseball. He had a near 6 ERA in the Intl League. It will probably be Richard that takes his place in the rotation, even though I'll believe it when I see it. If Jose is replaced which isn't 100% certain at this time, I'd put my money on Broadway. Ozzie came out and said Richard isn't ready just a few days ago, even for as big a hypocrite as Ozzie is I don't think he'll go back on that one. Lance has made 2 starts in his career both have been lucky as hell but successful: 1.59 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 5.2 avg IP.

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) you always do what is best for team first and throwing jose wasnt it. I wouldn't have pitched him after his last start in Texas but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. He's making $10M, he rushed back from injury, he's been a staple with the organization for over 4 years and we have no obvious replacement. One last sink or swim outing at home isn't the worst thing in the world.
-
QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) anyone really suprised here.... sorry to say this was going to happened no matter what cause ozzie that blind to see that contreas isnt at all right and this isnt helping this teams confidence. Ozzie's not a total idiot. He's letting Jose sink or swim here, right now Jose is drowning. He's not going to remain in the rotation after today unless shuts them down for the next 4 innings. It's not like we have an abundance of good replacements.

f***ing trademark move from Contreras. Runner on 3rd wild pitch, outstanding.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Hawk's about to lose it on Contreras. I've never heard him so down about a Sox player. He's being blatantly honest. I love it. The first forkball Jose gets over will his first and Hawk is actually saying it for once.
-
Jayson Nix is a f***ing wizard with the leather.
-
Hawk is having an outstanding day behind the microphone right now. This is outstanding.
-
Bases loaded for Kinsler, this is not good.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Fields makes an error on a routine play. Wake up guys! Terrible call by the ump, he was definitely out.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) It's this simple...if he's not willing to throw his fork ball, then don't pitch him. It's similar to if Floyd didn't want to throw his curve. He's using his forkball about half as often this year than in year's past. From ~21% down to ~10%.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Nice catch by Lillibridge, I thought that was gone off the bat. It sure as hell sounded like it. Hawk is giving it to Jose now, he's knows he's about done. Hawk should be pretty good today since he can pretty much let loose on Contreras. You can tell a player's status with the organization just by Hawk's tone and the name by which he calls the player.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) This is f***ing disgusting. This is his 3rd hitter and I'm done. He's throwing 100% sidearm and getting behind, this is sink or swim time for Jose. At this rate his Sox career could be over by the 4th.
-
That's about all I need to see.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Especially with how Alexei was mediocre at best at SS. Have you forgotten about Ozzie Guillen yet?
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 8, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) I'm sensing another first career home run tonight. And by that I mean one walk, two groundouts and one or two K. Brent homered off Joe Thatcher in his 11th career game. Still waiting on his first career CS, GDP and SF.

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?
Kalapse replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) I don't see Wise hitting any better than Pods, in fact probably worse. I also disagree that Pods is not that fast anymore - he still runs the bases as fast as anyone (base STEALING is another topic). And defensively, I think Wise is only slightly better. I see these two guys overall as nearly interchangeable, with a slight edge to Pods. Yeah, I pretty much disagree with all of it. I honestly don't know how you can watch this incarnation of Podsednik and believe he's as fast as Getz or Lillibride or even Wise at this point. I just don't see that burst.
