  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Because the Sox think Alexei is their SS for the next 5 years. His defense at short has been very much like his defense at second only without the glove flips.
  2. Well, at least he saw 7 pitches. Nix looks angry.
  3. Hawk is absolutely in love with Zach Greinke, always has been. He'll mention multiple times how he first saw Greinke pitch around 10 years ago when he was a high school pitcher in Apopka Florida and Hawk knew then that he'd someday be a great major league starter. Tonight's game should be unbearable.
  4. Best movie ever? Over half the players listed in the Sports Business Daily article are Ex-Sox.
  5. Gio Gonzalez's stint in the majors this season lasted all of 2 days. 5 H, 4 BB, 1 K and 3 ER in 5 innings of work in the 15 inning marathon in Seattle earned him a ticket back to AAA. His career MLB ERA now stands at 7.38 in 39 IP. He's still only 23 years old and it'll probably click for him someday but it's been a rough start to his big league career.
  6. QUOTE (G&T @ May 4, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) Matt Holliday is not doing so hot. Shocking. I posted his numbers outside of Coors/Petco/San Fran last year and his OPS was somewhere in the low to mid .700's. With that said; Matt Holliday is a much better hitter than his .233/.281/.367/.648 line would suggest. He's not going to finish the year anywhere near a 1.000 or even .950 OPS but he should be able to muster an .800 even while playing in the Coliseum, hell he isn't even a HR hitter anyway so he should be able to manage high doubles numbers in his new cavernous home ballpark. I'm curious as to how many of his HR will be hit in Arlington this year, half thus far.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) What are you talking about? As a rookie in 2007 he hit 23 homeruns in only 373 at bats. This year he is getting on base at a .354 clip and has an OPS of .714, as he adjusts and the league adjusts. And he's improved noticeably at third. What else do you want? By the way, and this from a Crede fan... his OPS in his first three full seasons (2005 being one of them) were .741, .717, .757. Not a whole lot different than Josh right now, except Josh gets on base more often. When I read greg's post I was going to come right back with this, it's quite perfect. Unfortunately, you beat me to it. Josh Fields 100 PA into this age 26 season: .256/.354/.360/.714 Joe Crede in his age 26 season (2004): .239/.299/.418/.717 Add on .036 points of slugging to Crede's '04 numbers and you have his '05 numbers. Just comparing their offensive output here Josh is producing much like pre-2006 Crede only with a whole lot more walks and K's and less power and infield popouts.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 4, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) In all fairness though, Lillibridge did have a good game yesterday. However, I agree with you. Also, why don't we put Nix in RF and have one of Pods or Lilli in CF, with Betemit at 3B. Nix has almost as much experience at 3B than he does in the OF, so why the hell not. With Grienke on the mound, we need as much O as possible. He committed an error in center and some how got away with 2 atrocious base running blunders, he looked confused out there like he didn't belong even DJ started giving it to him. A couple singles doesn't make up for playing incredibly stupid baseball. Oh and you don't put a middle infielder in a corner outfield spot, there's a rather large difference between moving from 2B to 3B and 2B to RF. It's an entirely different position.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Haha, Lillibridge has a f***ing lucky charm up his ass so far this season to keep getting into the lineup. With all the minor injuries, this is the worst lineup in the American League by far. This will be his 10th start out of 25 team games. I knew this would happen, this team was bound to be banged up from the get go. I actually think I said he'd start in about 40% of the team's games for the first month and what do you know.
  10. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) Oh come on, we're 12-12. If we finish 12-150, then yeah we're the worst ever. But I hate seeing Ozzie's Sunday lineup too. It's a joke, if you didn't read the game thread today then you're not gonna get it.
  11. Has Monster Quest ever you know, actually found a "monster"? I've seen the show a few times and all they really do is give you some good background on the "monster" they're hunting, interview some people who have had run ins with big foot, show a couple reenactments then a couple guys set up a few traps and motion sensitive trail cameras in the supposed location of said "monster". They do this for a few days, get some good pictures of deer and wrap up the episode. Pretty lame if you ask me.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) And on top of it...it hasn't been because of the replacements that we haven't scored. And yet 2 of them have misplayed balls. And my biggest problem is the progression of Chris Getz, he NEEDS to get ABs vs lefties but Ozzie has shown no desire to do so.
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) Isn't it a good situation to be in? 2 great 2B's, trade one for one legit CF. Great secondbasemen? Nix was released by the f***ing Rockies a few months ago.
  14. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Hence the f***. I don't know what to do, but Nix needs to be in this lineup more. Let him play out this hot streak. Chris Getz is hitting .400 over his last 40+ PA in the bigs. That's a real hot streak.
  15. Christ Betemit, make the f***ing play! I'm pretty much sold on Nix's glove.
  16. Holy s***. Reckless abandon from Chris f***ing Davis.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Radio is 5 to 10 secs faster than TV. The radio is a half second behind the TV broadcast.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) Did you already know he singled when you wrote this? I think your broadcast is a few seconds ahead of mine. No, I was impressed with his AB before the single.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) You absolutely, positively don't send Alexei there. Not down 3 and with Andruw's arm in LF. He was already at 3B by the time the ball fell when he saw the play was as close as it was he began to backtrack slowly. If Jones catches that ball Alexei is out, if he's gonna go on contact like that then he needs to go all the way.
  20. Oh f***. Come on Alexei if you're gonna go, GO!
  21. If he just concentrated on doing that s*** he'd have a nice big league career.
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) This is starting to feel like a patented Podsednik swingless walk. Damn, I got excited for nothing.
