THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers

Why is Nix holding the runner on? This is ridiculous. Young is going to go to the right side. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) Since when did Gio Gonzalez get promoted? 3-0 in relief today. That team has been decimated by injuries. Casilla went on the DL yesterday I believe. -

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 3, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) Winning also teaches them a lesson. And letting their pitchers know that busting our hitters WAY inside is not alright will aid us to victory. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) Steve Phillips says hi. Not even f***ing close. Joe Morgan is the most offensive man in the baseball universe. The fact that he can say some of the stupid f***ing s*** that he does and still keep his job is a joke. -

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 3, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) no we don't. it just leads to suspensions, ejections, and makes us look bad. f*** looking bad, they need to learn that they can't get away with hitting 5 of our hitters in 2.1 games. That's bulls***. Kinsler needs to take a dive some time in this game. Right between the numbers. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 3, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) Jenks for Rasmus still tickles me... I know it sounds good in theory but Rasmus isn't going anywhere. Rick Ankiel is obviously the odd man out in that outfield and the Cardinals are absolutely in love with Rasmus (for obvious reasons). By this time next year Colby Rasmus will have 5 times the value of Bobby Jenks, right now it's probably only 2X or 3X. Closers just don't have that kind of value and Rasmus is special. It's a crazy pipe dream that any Cardinals fan would scoff at. -

QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) PEDs aside, I'd take Ankiel in a heartbeat. St Louis isn't playing him that much. He has the 4th most PA of any player in the lineup, he has more PA than Ryan Ludwick. When you have to find ABs for Ludwick, Ankiel, Duncan, Pujols and Rasmus the guy who gets off to the slow start is gonna have to sit a little. He's available but not cheap and in a contract year. Then there's the obvious HGH fueled Gorilla in the room. -

Chris Getz is hitting .400/.432/.525/.957 over his last 44 PA dating back to the first game of the Tampa series. He has a 5 game hitting streak going, a hit in 8 out of his last 9 games, multiple hits in 7 of them, has reached base safely in his last 11 games and has gone 33 PA without a strikeout (leading off the game vs Matt Garza). -

Sox hitters in 2009: vs LHP as RHB: .237/.375/.373/.748 in 145 PA vs LHP as LHB: .400/.450/.629/1.079 in only 41 PA Just remember: ALWAYS play the match up. There isn't a left hand hitter alive who can handle a lefty starter. I wonder what Ozzie would do if he had a young Adrian Gonzalez or Chase Utley. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) Did Zambrano get hurt on his bunt? This Marlins team will not finish above .500, I guarantee it. Pulled his left hamstring.

London Wants to Host the Super Bowl
Kalapse replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 3, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) I disagree here. I honestly don't like "football weather" simply because i'd rather see more football games played in neutral type conditions (cold and/or some wind is fine, just rain and snow aren't good) since in those conditions, the truly best team is going to win the game. As for a Super Bowl in London though, what a stupid idea, just like putting the UEFA Champions League Final in America would be a stupid idea. For me prime football weather = Ford Field -

QUOTE (scenario @ May 3, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) The sad part about this lineup for me... It's a national television game. At least make it look like we're trying to win. I'm just thankful Ozzie isn't leading Lillibridge off tonight. Saves us the humiliation of explaining to the baseball world why we're letting a guy with a .143 average get more at-bats per game than anybody else. Jayson Nix is a career .125/.234/.161/.395 big league hitter (65 PA) who was released out right by the Rockies and possesses none of the qualities you look for in a leadoff hitter. At least Brent LillyBridge is fast. This could be a very embarrassing night for the fanbase. This game should pull in horrible ratings for ESPN, honestly the only reason for me to watch this game (aside from my overwhelming love for the team) is Danks and Quentin. I imagine a lot of the less nutty Sox fans will take a pass on this one. -

Quite possibly 4 non-big league quality hitters in that lineup with Alexei doing his best impression of one thus far this season making it 5. Thome being out of the lineup is just sad, we don't deserve to win this one. Good luck Danksy, might have to pitch a shutout. -

QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) Ack! Another guy with a 7+ ERA who could "own" the Sox hitters. Quentin, Thome and Ramirez (the only Sox hitters who have faced previously faced him sans Dye) are a combined 4 for 6 against him with 3 RBI, HR (CQ) and 2 2B (JT) Big Jim had better be in the lineup, he's been mashing the ball in this series and he's gotten to this kid before. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2009 -> 10:34 AM) they actually got back in it even though they did still end up losing. We actually got the tying run to the plate in the form of Brent LillyBridge in the top of the 7th. He then proceeded to have quite possibly the worst AB of the season for any White Sox hitter.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:23 AM) I would say they offer more protection than the Cardinals last year. Well he did bat .358/.390/.444/.834 hitting in front of the best hitter in the game last year and put up similar numbers in the 7 hole which was often in front of the pitcher.

Alright I'm going to take a stab at the lineup. This is only a GUESS, not the actually lineup. Podsednik - RF Fields - 3B Quentin - LF Thome - DH Konerko - 1B Miller - C Ramirez - SS Nix - 2B Lillibridge - CF If he decides to bench Thome (lefty on the mound, Jim's coming off an injury) just swap him out for Betemit and move Konerko up a spot.
