  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) it's a blast from the past looking at that roster. It's mainly just former prospects who were colossal busts, AAAA players who can tear the ball up, or older players who use to be really good. Bobby Brownlie and Bobby Hill together again.
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 2, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Outside of a few outliers every game has been a struggle it seems where are Kalapse's stats? QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) Coming into today: vs Relief pitchers: .296/.361/.498/.859 in 275 PA, the team OPS is right around .700 against SP First 4 innings: 37 runs in 88 innings = 0.42 runs per inning = 1.68 runs per game in the first 4 innings Innings 5 - 8: 61 runs in 88 innings = 0.69 runs per inning = 2.76 runs per game in innings 5-8 The Sox have only scored 4 runs in the first inning this season, that's not good.
  3. Do you have a low 90's straight fastball? Are you looking for a few easy outs and a nice, cooling breeze? Well the very bottom and top of the White Sox lineup is just what you're looking for!
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) The problem is he strikes out at the rate a power hitting prospect would. It's really amazing how terrible he is. Watching him hit this year, you would have thought he would have hit .220 in the minors last year. Oh, believe me I know. He needs to focus on making contact and hitting down on the ball, I think a lot of his troubles with the strikeouts comes from his desire to drive every pitch out of the ballpark. The sooner he realizes he's a tiny white guy with blazing speed the sooner he can get on with his probable big league career as a utility player.
  5. Ick, Pods really can't catch up to the heat. His bat speed is all but gone.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 2, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) Aiming or not then they need to focus on throwing outside and not attempt to come inside then. Lillibridge needs to be gone for a mediocore outfielder with potential. Send his ass to Winston Salem and tell him to hit everything on the ground, every time he hits one in the air he does twenty pushups. There's no reason for Brent LillyBridge to ever hit another flyball for the remainder of his career, he weighs 124 pounds, groundballs, bunts and line drives or he can find a new team.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) Somewhere, right now, Pods is stretching out that groin so that he can get on base in the ninth and create some mayhem 2005-style. Based on the " '47' thefts and counting" in my sig I can tell that the last time I updated it was July 14th, 2005. From July 15 to the end of the season he put up a .676 OPS and 12 stolen bases to go along with 14 caught stealing. Perhaps the resurrection of the Podsednik signatures will give his ass a little jolt.
  8. I doubt JD plays tomorrow so either we'll see Alexei in the outfield or we're looking at a Quentin-LillyBridge-Podsednik outfield for the rubber match.
  9. THANK YOU LORD! No break, just a bruise. Awesome.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) We must all resurrect the vintage Pods sigs. Oh hell, I might hate him as a ballplayer but I'm a sucker for irony and I think Slayer needs a break.
  11. Ball got a little slippery for Alexei there. It'd be a shame if we didn't get a chance to finish this one up, given the 5 unanswered runs and all.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) He's going to regret this move big time after the Dye incident. Seriously, he'd probably be on a flight to Arlington as we speak.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) We will not score another run. They can't hit a s***baller like this. Getz got to him yesterday.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) .278 BA is not that bad. I don't disagree that it's a big contract, but I do think the guy can hit and he's not that bad defensively - AT 2B. SS, no, not so much, nor 3B, although he's just gotten moved there this year. I would argue that most guys have a better home BA, so, it's not that outrageous. It is when you rely on your home ballpark as much as him. I honestly believe the only ballpark he could really succeed in outside of Arlington is the Twinky dome and their concrete infield. And .278 is terrible when you're only major asset is your ability to hit for a high average.
  15. Matt Thornton is just incredible. Quite possibly KW's best "value" deal.
  16. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) It's been posted plenty of times, and any site with baseball stats has it. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6613/s...mp;type=Batting It's like you can smell it. Where's the damn chart?
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) He's only playing there because this team makes him. He's really a 2B. I would like to see his road splits... can you give me a URL? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...=Career&t=b for his career: Home: .323/.371/.483/.855 Away: .278/.322/.407/.729 Everything suggests that he's made a living off the lightning quick infield and big gaps of the Ballpark in Arlington. Honestly, I wouldn't take him if they gave him away for free, that's how bad that contract is.
  18. It's always sad when AA players are asked to produce at the major league level. Poor, poor Lilly Bridge.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) ok, but when you talk about the average this guy hits for - and no it's not the park in his case, IMO. Power? Sure. But not so much average. He's a singles hitter with very little plate discipline, no real power and awful road splits. He's making at least twice as much as he should and has very low value at a power position like 3B (though the Rangers lineup more than makes up for it.) He's a very nice player to have in your lineup but he's no where near a top tier offensive talent. I'd say that he has very poor range in the infield but I have a hunch you'd dispute that.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) I love some Christopher Getz. Kalapse, please suggest the Joshua Fields run into one here. Perhaps Carlos could put us within a run.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) So Dye got hit by a pitch? How bad did it look? It was LOUD, he was down for a good 3 minutes and he was in tremendous pain when they took the glove off and applied pressure. It looked so bad that we've been speculating on the possible corresponding moves to a DL stint.
  22. Chris just never stops hitting. Nice hustle 2 bagger extends his hitting streak to 5. I love that little guy.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:17 PM) Any chance that Betetmit could play a little corner outfield? He's played 2 emergency innings out there in his big league career so I'd say no. Ozzie would probably stick Alexei or Getz in one of the corners before he'd put Wilson out there.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) This is a very odd night. These last 3 innings are going to be interesting.
