  1. Bart got out of a big jam in Baltimore, he's fully capable of getting out of this.
  2. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) You can't walk Russell Branyan with a 2 run lead and nobody on Hard to get outs when you're throwing the ball over the plate and it's not getting called. Branyan looked surprised on a few of the calls.
  3. You can't make miscues behind Bart. You just can't do it. Especially when you're a player who's entire game is predicated on f***ing defense.
  4. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) Griffey is said to have whined a lot about diminishing press coverage when A-Rod began to steal his thunder in Seattle. That most likely followed him around for a while. Ick, that's very old news. That's pretty ridiculous, talk about grasping at straws.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) You will never see my type this again in my life, but I predict a leadoff extra base hit for Jerry here. Moron
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) I've always been confused at how people thought Griffey Jr. was going to be a clubhouse cancer with the Sox? It's like people are surprised he was a good clubhouse guy. When he was in Cincinnati, every one of their young outfielders said how amazing Griffey Jr. was with them. People actually thought he'd be a cancer? Griffey is considered to be one of the best clubhouse guys in the game. Who doesn't love the kid?
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) The sad thing is, he is very very fast. Not Owens fake fast. Really fast. So all he has to do, is make contact and run like hell. Yet for some reason his swing is long. One of the comments that Farmer made earlier in the year was that he thinks he is a bigger player than he really is and thinks he has power. Once they can convince him to slap and run he might actually do something. His peripherals are those of a power hitter. Farmer is right on.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) BTW...you do realize we're going to see Lillibridge face Felix Hernandez tonight? Mercy I'd just start Getz, since you know, he's going to play tomorrow anyway but Ozzie has his rules.
  9. I hate you Brent Lillibridge. He's so overmatched even when facing an Independent league pitcher.
  10. I hate this f***ing lineup, not entertaining in the least.
  11. Ramirez - Miller - Lillibridge - Owens up coming. Look out world!
  12. Bart looks dominant. Both of his starts at home have been impressive. (thus far)
  13. I looked it up. Thome is swinging at an inordinate amount of 1st pitches this year (up to 38%, 25% for his career). He's 1-9 when he puts the first pitch in play.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:28 PM) They are going to kill this guy. Sans Owens, Miller and Lillibridge. I'm telling you, all signs point to us scoring many runs today, assuming our 8-9-1 don't f*** it up.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) Well, in that case HBP shouldn't count towards OBP either, because you did nothing to earn your way on base. You also didn't get the opportunity to do so. It's the same as a walk, how can you earn your way on base if you don't get anything to hit?
  16. They are going to kill this guy. Sans Owens, Miller and Lillibridge.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Ah, good call. That makes sense. I imagine that fielders choice's also increase OBP but lower batting averages? Fielder's choice counts as an out and doesn't help your OBP. You did nothing to earn your way on base so you get no credit for it.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) Considering he is considered a fastball pitcher with this mediocre stuff, the sox should crush him. That's my line of thinking, historically this is the sort of pitcher we get to. It's the crafty soft tossers that kill us.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I can see this happening also. This guy has incredibly mediocre stuff. Look what we did to Burgeson the 2nd time around in BAL. This guys is worse. First time around: .276/.382/.345/.727 Second time around: .333/.316/.500/.816
  20. How's this for optimism: we're going to light him up the second time around.
  21. Lillibridge and Owens are a combined 6 for 40 w/ 11 K on the year.
  22. This is the exact sort of pitcher the Sox should destroy.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Unbelievable amount of movement on Colon's 2-seamer today. His second home start is looking a lot like his first. If he keeps his command on that 2 seamer they're not going to hit him today.
