  1. Gotta work Branyan up, he's ready to golf anything down and in.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Perhaps I should give KW a call, because I can hit those pitches. Seriously. He'd be better off just attempting a bunt each AB. Excellent acoustics in the park with the tiny crowd.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) 90 mph fastball down the middle = K. Wow. He was late on 3 of them, it's sad really.
  4. I hate you Jerry Owens Clowned on 90 MPH heat right down the pipe. He couldn't catch up to an 85 mile per hour heater right now.
  5. Jerry really having trouble catching up to the fastball.
  6. The question is: how many times will I type "I hate you Jerry Owens" today?
  7. It's been f***ed up for like a year.
  8. Good inning for Bart. 1 GB, 1 FB, 1 K. Lots of movement on his 2 seamer.
  9. Only 1 HR allowed in 14.2 IP for Bartolo this season.
  10. Eh, I miss the conference call. I get why they're doing it but I prefer the old school approach where you can knock out the first few rounds in no time at all and move on with your day. The made for TV bulls*** does nothing for me, you don't need 5+ minutes to pick a player when you can't trade picks.
  11. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....til-friday.html Then get Betemit some f***ing ABs. I refuse to believe that Jerry Owens is considered a more valuable player than Wilson Betemit even in Ozzie's wacky world. Good to hear, I'm not sure how much more of Brent Lillibridge I can really take.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Ya the cached page from google is now from this morning so it no longer works. It worked when I tried it this morning. I found it amusing. http://www.pcworld.com/article/163936/espn...tta_ponies.html I was lucky enough to experience the greatness during the short period of time it was working yesterday. I'm guessing the exposure it got on Deadspin led to ESPN correcting it.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) At least Owens isn't in CF. Nope, we instead have him playing a power position where his career OPS is .150 points below league average for that position.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) It really is amazing how the absence of Getz and Thome makes this lineup go from formidable to laughable. Yes but this way Ozzie can call for more failed hit and runs that cost us baserunners because Brent Lillibridge sucks. If Brian Anderson starts in CF for the remainder of the season and Lillibridge continues to get consistent ABs, Brian will finish they year with 10+ CS from failed hit and runs alone.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) If Wilson Betemit is not in the lineup for Game 2 tonight, I will take a sign that says Free Wilson Betemit to the game tomorrow. Is it his lack of small-ball-itude? Bopper who works counts and plays unimpressive defense at 4 infield positions can't get no love on this team.
  16. Get well soon Chris, having Jerry Owens (especially Jerry f***ing Owens) or Brent Lillibridge at the top of the lineup is nothing short of embarrassing.
  17. Matt Vasgersian displays a complete lack of tact:
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) I disagree with you on South Park I think it's had a solid run throughout even changing the feel of the show, but I can definitely see how it could turn off people, it's a completely different show now. You're right about the Simpsons being a different show today than it was in its prime. Yeah, I don't bring up South Park much because I can see why people would still find it funny, it's just one of those instances where it doesn't fit my personal taste anymore. I won't hold back on the Simpsons however, that's just a disgrace. I'm also not putting South Park in the "unwatchable" category, it's still decent (haven't seen any of season 12 but I did see all of season 11 and thought it was pretty good), if a new episode of South Park is on I'm not adverse to watching it, I just won't go out of my way to watch it anymore unlike the first 6 seasons which were appointment television. There's a few more shows that IMO have really changed over the years and have become borderline unwatchable because of it, one of them being Scrubs but I know I'm pretty much alone on that one. It's sad because for the first 5 or 6 seasons (I forget which) Scrubs was probably my favorite show.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 06:01 PM) Today's Red Eye had Flight of the Conchords listed as a show that might not come back. That would be a damn shame, this past season was outstanding. Didn't skip a beat from the first.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) It started getting bad when it became too self aware and preachy. It tried to get cutesy with stuff and it just didn't work. It's kind of like South Park to me though that show can still churn out a decent episode here and there. The first 6 seasons were simply incredible but then the show began to change, much like with the Simpsons the animation got a lot better (don't know why this is a negative with me but it is, I can often tell a good Simpsons episode from a bad one right away just based on the animation), the subject matter was more graphic (at times it seemed like they were going for shock factor alone) and nearly all the episodes became parodies or based solely on real life events often lampooning a person in the news. I know Trey and Matt would often brag about the fact that they could start and finish an episode in 3 or 4 days. A story could break on Friday and they'd run an episode lampooning it by Wednesday. The Simpsons is just a different show today, completely unrecognizable from its heyday. Watch and episode from season 12 or 15 then an episode from season 4 or 7, same characters, entirely different show.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Season 9-season 10 was the beginning of the slow decline, IMO. Just about every episode in season 9 was excellent IMO, it began to change but still very good. Season 10 is definitely where it began to waiver, a lot more celebrity voices and the episodes were more hit and miss. Season 11 is where the show went straight to hell, from then on out it became unwatchable. It's kind of sad, for the first 9 seasons it was about as good as it gets but around half of the show's run has been crap.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) So Thome's getting two days off in 3 days? Makes me think something is going on with his back. This is ridiculous though...play Quentin in LF, and get Betemit in the f***ing lineup. This is the one game you better make sure you win in this series, and this is a pretty discouraging lineup. According to David Shuster Thome is having problems with his heal. Could be a smokescreen.
  23. Today's error free lineup: Lillibridge 2B Fields 3B Quentin DH Dye RF Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Anderson CF Ramirez SS Owens LF Danks P

Agreed, I just don't get it. It's really not that difficult to incorporate him into the lineup. Lillibridge 2B Fields 3B Quentin LF Dye RF Konerko 1B/DH Betemit DH/1B Pierzynski C Anderson CF Ramirez SS And if you MUST DH Quentin then stick Betemit at 2B for the day. I doubt he kills you there and his pop against some s***ty righty starter would be much appreciated with Thome out of the lineup. Lillibridge LF/CF Fields 3B Quentin DH Dye RF Konerko 1B Betemit 2B Pierzynski C Anderson CF/LF Ramirez SS
  25. The Sox/Angels Sunday night game last season was quite good. As was the early season Tigers game.
