Anyone else worried that Josh has yet to hit a home run? What's up with this guy? -

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) One game puts you in a slump, if you didn't know... Feels like a [very odd] vendetta to me. -

Alexei doing 2 things in this one that he was pretty horrible at last year: he drew a walk and stole a base. Good stuff. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) G1 actually. I'm sitting in the 3rd row, right behind the third base ump with a few other sox fans Are you wearing Sox garb? If so there's a good chance they'll show you. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) Hopefully Alexei's turned on the lightswitch as completely as he did last yera. last year: 47 PA or May 16th. I figure his season turned around after that HR in San Fran. coming into today he has 47 PA, so lets hope -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) josh in a rut. Lexi to the 2 spot? Trade one slumping hitter for another? Unless you think 1 good game ends a slump. -

I LOVE Carlos Quentin. Oh, and Chris Getz. -
QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) I posed the question to myself yesterday of who would I rather have than Quentin IN THE LEAGUE right now? Given his age and potential...there's probably only a handful of players I'd rather have. But like your question...it's a moot point. We're going up against one of them today, he'll be in right field. You'd also have to take into account position (Carlos plays a non-premier position). There's quite a few on my list but Carlos is definitely an elite talent.

Hawk: "when we got to be ballpark yesterday everything looked good; we had Jose going for us they had the rookie Bergeson making his major league debut for them but then everything went bad." Seriously? Did anyone actually expect us to win yesterday? I thought that was by far the worst matchup of the series, I didn't think we had a chance. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) I'd have no problem with Quentin in CF and finding a way to get a guy like Allen up and playing LF. Our defense already sucks, might as well try to rake. No thanks, I have no desire to see Buehrle put up a 5.00 ERA this year. Our defense is mediocre but you're just pushing to a level of epically bad with a move like that.

MLB Power Rankings...cbssports, Sox climbing
Kalapse replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why exactly do people pay attention to power rankings? Some dude arbitrarily ranks the best teams in baseball through 2 weeks worth of games and this is supposed to be somehow relevant? Someone explain this to me. I mean, the OP doesn't even like the writing style of the author so it can't be for the witty analysis. -
QUOTE (TLAK @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Rongey, Cowley, Farmer and Jackson in rain delay theater are very funny. Unusually good radio for WSCR. It's actually been surprisingly good. Darrin Jackson is a very funny man. Washington, Baltimore and Boston are all in rain delays.

According to Cowley there's a window 30 to 45 minutes from now.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Joey Devine is a kid with a world of talent. Can't seem to get that arm to work, right. I still can't believe Beane got him for Mark f***ing Kotsay, I don't care how many arm problems he's had.

It's been almost 51 f***ing hours since I've last seen White Sox baseball. I'm getting antsy.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Last time I made this argument using the examples of Crede and Rowand their relatively slow "adaptation" to the major leagues (or any Sox hitting prospects since Ordonez, Lee and Durham), I was told that's irrelevant and that Beckham will be the exception...that it's a "new era" of White Sox youngsters coming up and dazzling upon entrance to the big league arena. Because Gordon Beckham is at all comparable to a meh prospect like Rowand? If you really want to make a comparison go back to Ventura who's probably the most comparable Sox prospect in semi-recent memory to Gordon Beckham. And if Gordon were to hit as well as Crede did during his first 200+ AB stint with the Sox I'd take it. I'm also confused as to why Beckham needs to be compared to past Sox prospects (none of which were as highly regarded as Gordon) as opposed to someone like Ryan Zimmerman.

Joey Devine had surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow today but the details are sketchy. He's likely to miss the remainder of the season but if ligament replacement was involved it'll be a year plus.

DJ's also pitched relatively well since that disastrous first outing against the Twins (4.1 scoreless innings with 6 base runners and 3 Ks), he should be a decent 7th man out of the pen (garbage time innings eater). Mike MacDougal on the other hand has thrown about 6 pitches over the plate this season, it's embarrassing having him out there.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) How many games did danks get an L for that sox lost 2-1, 2-0, 1-0, etc. Floyd had exponentially more run support that Danks. Which is also why W/L for a pitcher are really meaningless. They need to create an adjusted stat to take into account what the offense did. John Danks' expected W/L total (which is based on how often pitchers with the same innings pitched and runs allowed earned a win or loss historically) for last season was 14.1 W and 8.4 L which was the 5th highest E(W) total in the American League. Floyd's was 11.5 W and 12.6 L good for 20th in the AL. John Danks >>>>> Gavin Floyd

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Unless Owens' slot is still open in Charlotte? Isn't that why we signed Podsednik?

The Royals moved Horacio Ramirez to the pen and recalled Brian Bannister to take his spot in the rotation. That didn't take long. Also, Philip Humber cleared waivers and was sent outright to AAA Rochester.

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) He's large. His biceps are absolutely gargantuan, he was already probably the biggest (non-fatty) player in baseball and he's only getting larger with age. I can only imagine how big his ass is these days.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) Heads must be thrilled. Anyone have better confirmation than MLBTR yet that they can link here? Before I pin it? I already pinned it. It's being reported by the Score and just so everyone knows: MLBTR is not a f***ing source.
