  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Did KW tell Ozzie to abandon this season already and fight with the Indians for last place and Strasburg?? Well, I was going to get on Ozzie last night when he left Wise in against Duensing, but then Wise actually ended up getting 2 hits (of course, the more important one, when the game was still in doubt, ended up in him getting picked off, thus it was nullified). Our chances of winning this game must be about 10-15%. To get swept at home by the Twins before playing the Tigers, Rays and Orioles on the road has 2007 written all over it. Strasburg will be entering the 2009 June Draft thus he will be well out of reach of the White Sox. Francisco Liriano's career high in Ks is 12 (he's done it twice) that number could be in danger today.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) Getz is the best hitter we have right now and we are resting him. Way to try to stunt his growth. Josh Fields is hitting .444/.615/.444/1.060 (he's reached base 8 times in 13 PA) with a quarter of the team's combined runs and RBI. (5/20)
  3. There's nothing national about it. All Fox Saturday games do is prohibit people from seeing teams outside their region. (or Sawx/Yanks of course)
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) dear ozzie: Chris Getz career vs. lefties in minors: .302/.371/.367 Wilson Betemit career vs. lefties: .232/.276/.360 when will ozzie ever learn Last year at Charlotte Getz hit .319/.380/.433/.813 vs lefties in 141 AB. He actually hit lefties 44 OPS points better than righties. There are quite possibly 4 automatic outs in today's lineup. (and that's not counting Alexei who couldn't hit a breaking ball to save his life right now)
  5. It's f***ing retarded. Chris Getz even being a lefty stands a MUCH better chance against Liriano than the clueless Lillibridge. I love how managers just assume a young left handed hitter can't hit left handed pitching (his minor league splits be damned) so they don't get many ABs versus lefties early in their big league careers and never learn to hit big league lefties. Also good to see Ozzie misusing Betemit early, he's incapable of hitting left handed pitching, look for an 0-3 w/ 2 Ks out of him today.
  6. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Look at it as a day without having to listen to the Hawk Hawk & Stone >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Buck & McCarver And if the Sox game goes bad early there's no other baseball to flip to since Fox has exclusive rights through 6 pm.
  7. Fox Saturday games are so f***ing useless, there's nothing National about them, you get to watch a bad Fox broadcast of a team in your area (or Sawx/Yanks) while they black out any other, more interesting Saturday day games that you may want to watch on Extra Innings. The Fox game of the week is evil.
  8. Like I said last night; don't be surprised if Brent Lillibridge bats leadoff. I am pretty excited for Corky V Liriano I. This should be good.
  9. I can not wait to watch Corky Miller tomorrow. I wonder if Ozzie is ballsy enough to leadoff Brent Lillibridge tomorrow with Getz hitting the bench after a pretty damn good game today.
  10. What's Jeff Nelson doing these days? Lace 'em up one last time J!
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Yep, his K/9 innings last year was a huge warning sign. I know his velocity was up on opening day (adrenaline), but he looked worse than ever on Thursday with his fastball. He needs to start using his offspeed stuff more to get ahead in the count. Regardless of what people say, he did not induce any more ground balls than usual last year.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) My brother, who's a pretty good baseball person, is praying that the Sox unload Jenks at the deadline. I'm right there with him.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) He's put on 30 pounds according to what I was told by my friends down there. The Marlins are going to be a blast to watch. I don't know if they can finish above the Phillies or Mets because their bullpen sucks, but they are loaded in the other parts of that team and could surprise some people and make a serious playoff run. They've proven in the past (Urbina, others) that they're willing to sell off some young talent in order to acquire that big time bullpen arm at the break in order to make a run. They could be a decent trade partner for us at the deadline.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) Except against the Cubs One of the most bizarre thins I've ever seen. That sickening Cubbie blue is his kryptonite.
  15. The Indians bullpen is absolutely imploding. Smith, Perez and Kobayashi look awful and allow a 6 run 8th by the Jays. Lind looks incredible at the plate right now.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) I honestly think his only peer as a total player is Pujols. Pretty much. Lance Berkman is one of the more underrated hitters in the game, easily one of the best pure hitters of his era but doesn't get a lot of play nationally. He's right up there but well behind those 2.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) He hit a no doubter to CF tonight that was ridiculous. It also looks like he put on 20 lbs. A lot of people don't realize that he's 6'4". He's just now starting to grow into that frame, he's going to become a prodigious home run hitter.
  18. QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) I totally agree, that team is very exciting. That offense is going to be interesting to watch. Hanley Ramirez is going to be a baseball god, he's already one of the top 3 most dangerous players in the game. Moving to the 3 hole is only going to make things worse for the opposition.
  19. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) that was actually pretty important inning as DJ only needed a handful of pitches... The big 4 should be well rested for this weekend. 1 of them might have to close out this game.
  20. The Marlins are going to kick a ton of ass this year, they're so much fun to watch. Now 4-0 to start the year after a Jorge Cantu walkoff vs the Mets.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) The Blue Jays have now loaded the bases with 1 down in the 8th. Rafael Perez showing some poor control which is unusual for him. And a blooper brings home 2. Error by Choo in right.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) Hell of a season opener going on for Cleveland today/tonight. The Blue Jays have now loaded the bases with 1 down in the 8th. Rafael Perez showing some poor control which is unusual for him.
  23. So Josh has reached base safely 8 times and Carlos 7. Not bad.
  24. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) seriously let beckham, viciendo, flowers, danks play Jordan Danks is at least 2 years away from the big leagues. He's still incredibly raw.
