Should the Sox Retaliate for the CQ Beaning?
Kalapse replied to BaseballNick's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I also believe we should attempt to kill a few Royals, they obviously deserve it being evil and all. -
f***ing A. Getz hitting leadoff with AJ in the 2 hole and Wise hitting 8th today. It took 2 f***ing games for Getz to show that he can mentally handle leading off the bottom of the 1st.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) Really only 2 players I think you consider in free agency is Dave Roberts and Podsednik, give them a minor league contract and see where it goes from there. No harm in trying. Dave Roberts unofficially retired from baseball, he's already doing radio work for the Padres.

If Ozzie wants to come out of the dugout every time Wise has an awful AB I'm sure the crowd would happily boo him.

All he has to do is have one good f***ing at bat. That's 0-7 w/ 7 horrible ABs. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) Was it just me or did it seem like Jermaine didn't move at all on that single? That's because he knows he's incapable of getting to that ball. His range in right is about the size of a kiddy pool. -

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) Why can't we get a 2 out hit with RISP like that. We have 2 already this year and 4 runs to show for it. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) That likely wasn't a sacrifice. Or he realized that he was likely going to make an out so he decided to make it a semi-productive one or at least avoid the DP to give Getz a chance to hit with a man on. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) I already feel bad for Wise. It's like Mackowiak all over again. It's not his fault he was put in CF, even though he couldn't play it. He did his best out there and played pretty much as well as expected. If Wise performs essentially like he has in the past, at a minor league level of play, then you really can't get mad at him. What sense would that make? Too many people will yell stupid s*** at Wise, but that's wrong. Blame the GM (or manager for putting him leadoff), not the player. That's a very apt comparison and I agree completely on all of it. They're two players that could be quite valuable in a specific role being taken out of their element and asked to do something that they're just not capable of doing. Dewayne Wise seems like a decent enough guy and has some talent, it's a shame that he's been thrust into a position in which he will not succeed when he could instead be a valuable member of someone's bench. I may not be the biggest fan of his game but I hope when all is said and done this experience doesn't drive him out of the sport, he should have a decent future in the NL as a 4th/5th outfielder even if he is on the wrong side of 30. (s***, if Darnell McDonald can get an opening day start in 2009 then Dweezy should be able to stick around)

I believe Rongey is a Cardinals fan but regardless of his fandom (which is truly irrelevant) he's turned into a very good voice for White Sox radio. He knows his s*** and I think genuinely wants the Sox to succeed even if the fans will eventually turn him bat-s*** crazy.

Markakis signed a six year contract 3 months ago, Baltimore has money and he's still 3 years away from free agency and one of the best young players in the game. He was never in danger of being traded.

that .293 AVG/.363 BABIP and 0.51 ISO Willits put up in 2007 to go along with a very poor CF UZR conjure up words like "fluke" and "marginal player".

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) if he has a good yr..maybe 260,30,90 something like that or better, cant you see the sox bringing him back next year, at a discounted rate? I hold off on predictions and hypotheticals like that until at least late July because so much can change over the course of a year. In the meantime I'm going to work under the assumption that he will not be back with us next year. -

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) time to bring the Thome silhouette out of the mothballs Agreed. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) No, I never said I'd boo, I merely said he could DIAF, and some people would consider being a Twin reason enough to boo, you asked for a good reason, I gave you one. So just playing for the Twins is good enough reason to boo a player? If that's the only qualification for being boo worthy then you could conceivably boo every Twins hitter each time they come to the plate, that's pretty lame. In my world you need to do a bit more than put on an certain jersey to get your ass booed, if you want the gesture to retain any kind of value then you need to pick your places.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) well u know what he meant, that since hes slow, even though he does bust his ass, she thinks hes not trying lol hes just slow. ..go sox, I'm going all out with the Thome love this year, this is probably the last time I'll get to see him play in a White Sox uniform so he's getting my unwavering admiration and defense. He will be my one bias. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) I can, he's a Twin. He has leeway because of 2005, and because of all he's done with the Sox, but...he's a Twin. A TWIN. $#@! So you boo every Twins batter who comes to the plate? Sounds like a waste of energy to me.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I think I am gonna watch the game with my grandparents tonight. I havent seen them in a while and my grandma is a die hard sox fan and she is hilarious. She gets sooooo angry when Jim Thome is running out a groundball, everytime she yells "He isnt even trying ,look at him!". LOL Which is weird because Jim Thome probably busts his ass harder down the first base line than any other lumbering slugger in the game. -
I can't think of a single good reason to boo him. He'd get a polite golf clap in his first AB from me were I in attendance.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Khalil Greene might be the worst #4 hitter in the history of baseball. And Chris Duncan (today's #4 hitter) just hit one off the rightfield foul pole after a walk to Pujols.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Best moron call of the post game show on WSCR 670, "Getz is being talked about keeping Gordon Beckham's position warm. Now I have seen Getz, in the futures game and he is good. What about moving Beckham to CF" /show Rongey's come a long way hasn't he? He's rarely let me down over the last year or so.
