  1. After another awful performance by Brent Lillibridge (0-4 w/ 3 K), his BB/K ratio now stands at 1/18 on the Spring. He has no business making the opening day roster.
  2. John Lujan blows. We should never have traded Chris Stewart!
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) BA could murder my family and I would still give him his props as far as being a very gifted defender. I don't see how anybody can dispute that. That's what I don't get. Some people actually question his defensive ability and act like we of Soxtalk are the only one's who believe him to be an elite defender.
  4. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 05:30 PM) Offensive superstar Wilson Betemit coming up with bases loaded Sadly it's against a lefty.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) I love the fact that there is never any in-between in regards to Brian Anderson. People either love him or hate him. You never see the "eh, he's OK" I think he's the tallest midget, would you constitute that as love?
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Ozzie thought it was April 1st. This is the dumbest idea I in the history of the spoken word. Fields or BA leading off? The wiff kings? Wise and Anderson had the same K rate last season yet it looks like Dewayne Wise is going to be the leadoff hitter against righties.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) Here's the full blog. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1661 I think it's just Gregor blowing smoke. The Kenny Lofton comment...he was joking in the first line, since Lofton and Phillips both used to play for the Sox. Yeah, Kenny might be trying to do something...but isn't he always? But Podsednik? Edmonds? No way. And Pierre? Only if the Dodgers paid like, 80% of his contract. Try 90% and I wouldn't give them anything of value in return. He's due $28.5M over the next 3 years. I'd have a tough time paying him more than $1M a year in this market. I still don't understand why he's regarded as a regular in the big leagues, he'd be a nice pinch runner/bunter/slap hitter but unless you're a hardcore masochist I don't know why you'd want to watch him everyday.
  8. Tony Gwynn Jr. is out of options. The last thing we need is another untalented lefty AAA outfielder who's out of options.
  9. Apparently Coop was on the Score this morning and put the odds of Contreras starting the year in the rotation at 95%, Colon on the other hand only got 50/50 odds, which I suppose is pretty good considering.
  10. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) That's too bad. The sox radio broadcasts have been pretty good - much better than that televised crapfest with Bill Melton & Whoever. Listening to Farmer and Jackson tow the company line, proclaiming a bunch of crap that they're just going to go back on once the season starts does nothing for me. At least Bill Melton entertains me with his ignorance and heavy breathing.
  11. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Yeah, if we convert either Getz or Alexei to center, it would have to be at least after a season of winter ball there. I don't want to live through any more on the job training in season. Been there done that with Mackowiak, and before that with Steve Sax. Alexei played just as much, if not more CF in Cuba than he did SS. He also spent more innings in CF last year than he did SS.
  12. I was just pointing out that 85/85/20 isn't a great accomplishment especially over 700 PA.
  13. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Gameday Audio says they have it. I was referring to a video broadcast. I'm not going to sit at my computer listening to a spring training game, it's boring enough watching these games, I can't imagine listening to them.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 19, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) So who will be your target of ire in today's game, K? Wait, let me guess... does his name start with a "J", and end in "erry"? Eh, sadly there's no broadcast for today's game, I'll probably be watching the tournament around 3 o'clock. I'll of course check the box score periodically to see just how many ground balls to the right side Jerry can muster off the high 90's fastball of Matt Cain. He might have to own the left side of the infield today.
  15. Owens - CF Pierzynski - C Quentin - LF Dye - RF Konerko - 1B Alexei - SS Fields - 3B Getz - 2B Danks - P
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) Wait, huh? Retiring a number for 2 people? The Hawks did it late last year with the number 3 to honor Pierre Pilote and Keith Magnuson.
  17. .282/.370/.513/.882, 39 AB, 5/10 BB/K - Anderson .281/.294/.469/.763, 32 AB, 0/7 BB/K - Dweezy .364/.432/.545/.978, 33 AB, 3/3 BB/K - Getz .233/.333/.256/.589, 42 AB, 7/6 BB/K - Owens
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Getz has ANOTHER hit. CHRIS GETZ TRACKER! .364/.432/.545/.978, 3/3 BB/K
  19. I love you Chris Getz, you are a man amongst speedy children.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Nuke came around chat a few times last year, IIRC. He last signed on here in late October last year so he's been around.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) They have to be getting direction on how they handle certain questions, because there is no way their two eyes watch the owens and wise fast out show and think this is major league quality. What do these same sheep -- I mean fine commentators -- say if Ozzie does go with a Getz/Ramirez/Quentin 1/2/3 to start the season? How can they retain any credibility if they go back on what they're so adamantly proposing right now? f***ing shills.
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) i tried to google that and all i could find was a "revisited" thread, not the actual thread. Do you have a link? Relive the magic.
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) They have to be getting direction on how they handle certain questions, because there is no way their two eyes watch the owens and wise fast out show and think this is major league quality. YES! Oh god yes.
  24. Kevin Youkilis is done for the WBC with an ankle injury. It's supposedly a mild sprain with some inflammation in the Achilles. This is getting f***ing ridiculous, Terry Francona is going to strangle Bud Selig to death. He didn't want any of his players participating in this sham in the first place now his 2 MVP candidates from last year are banged up. This is what he had to say even before the Youkilis injury and remember, employees of Major League Baseball are not allowed to speak ill of the WBC so he had to do a little tip toeing around the subject: I wonder how Frank Wren felt watching Brian McCann, his star catcher who's never played a single professional inning anywhere but catcher, play left field the other night. I'm sure he was overwhelmed with pride for his country. It's funny how everyone agrees it's a great idea but at the same time they also agree that there's no good time for it to be held. Well then, since they are holding it at the beginning of March which is an awful time for this thing, it would have to be constituted as a BAD IDEA.
  25. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Wise HBP. That dedication to take one from the team will keep him in Ozzie's horny mood, then he gets thrown out trying to steal. The last couple games, it's like Owens has infected him.. or giving him too much "tips". Wise is the same player now as he was last week, bad. Bad players play well over 4 or 5 game spans in spring training, it doesn't change who they are. DWEEZY TRACKER: .281/.294/.469/.763, 0BB/7K, 1SB/1CS
