  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Ray Durham led off in 1995, and he never played a game in the majors. Getz can hit in the majors-period. Denard f***ing Span put up a .387 OBP for the Twins last season, he had never played a single game above AAA before last year. Give me a f***ing break.
  2. QUOTE (tommy @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) How awesome has Chris Getz looked lately? I wish we had like 3 or 4 of him.
  3. J Hood's shining moments have to be his Santo impression on B&B, his 2 hour late night interviews with Aaron Rowand usually spent talking about the Bears and Score hello. I don't think I heard any of him on 1000.
  4. Removing George Offman, Chet Coppock and Jesse Rogers from the public airwaves can only be a good thing. I look forward to never having to hear any of them again.
  5. Galvin Jiminez and Mike Sosa making appearances in today's broadcast.
  6. Alexei did hit .304/.331/.502/.833 after becoming a full time starter last year, sure there's almost no plate discipline present in that line but how many other hitters non-power hitters on this team are capable of hitting .300 or putting up a .330 OBP? (even if it is almost all batting average) The only thing that hurts is the .200 ISO in the #2 spot, that's a #5 or #6 hitter right there.
  7. Real nice play by Beckham right there, too bad Konerko couldn't pick it.
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) How about Getz for leadoff, and Ramirez as the number 2. I understand that Ramirez has a low OBP, but he seems to feast on fastballs and CQ would provide protection behind him. From yesterday: QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) Assuming Beckham will not make the team. Getz - Regardless of the crippling pressure involved with leading off the bottom of the 1st he's the best fit at the top of the lineup given his tools as a hitter Ramirez - Outside of Getz there are no other high/moderate OBP hitters left to hit in the 2 hole, at least with Alexei hitting second you're getting one of your best hitters more plate appearances and late in close games I want him getting that 4th or 5th PA that might not be afforded to a #6 or #7 hitter and will be given to a mediocre offensive player like Pierzynski in Ozzie's lineup. Quentin Dye Thome Konerko Pierzynski Fields Anderson/Wise
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) If you follow the crap coming out of the mouths of KW, Ozzie, etc. right now, you will get really pissed off. And sadly I have. Damn Getz gets down the line. Can anyone really deny at this point that Getz is quicker than Owens?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) No offense, but I don't know of a single person besides you who really gave him much of a chance to be starting in the majors this season. It was funny listening to Joe Cowley yesterday on the Score talking about the leadoff spot. He just assumes that Brent Lillibridge is going to make the team as a utility man however "he's going to get his fair share of playing time, he can leadoff, he has that kind of speed." I'm beginning to hate baseball or maybe it's just morons like Joe Cowley and Ozzie Guil . . .
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) Kalapse...your boy DWeezy is up. He says he wants to leadoff to show that your wrong. LOL And those ground balls to the right side are just how you win a job with this club. DWEEZY TRACKER!!!! .281/.273/.469/.741, 0/7 BB/K
  12. Ick, Brent Lillibridge needs to go away.
  13. 6th k for Floyd. He's looking nasty this inning.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Does the broadcast have a speed gun? Otherwise, how can you get a good idea of what he is throwing, versus what was called? I've decided to pick on Donny Lucy for the day because this is a boring ass game, I need something to do and I've never ripped on Lucy before. I'm sure he's doing a fine job behind the plate, Gavin's been getting behind in the count and leaving pitches up, it's his own damn fault.
  15. An immaculate play by the incredible Christopher Getz.
  16. QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) I'm not a Wise fan or anything, but how is his OBP lower than his BA? He has a sac fly which does not affect his batting average but drops his OBP. That's what happens when you can't draw a single walk.
  17. Another awful pitch called by Donny Lucy and the dreadful Gary Matthews takes him deep.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) K'd on a pitch in the dirt. Nice. Dweezy tracker! .290/.281/.484/.765, 0 BB/7 K
  19. Donny Lucy calls the wrong pitch on 3-2 (3 straight fastballs) and the bantam Chone Figgins hits it out to right.
  20. Lucy fails to block a ball in the dirt and Mike Napoli takes 3rd on the dropped 3rd strike. (Lucy got the runner at 1st)
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Damn. Lucy needs all the hits he can get to make this team. Mike Napoli (the slow footed catcher) just stole second on Lucy, it wasn't his fault (Gavin doesn't even bother trying to hold him) but still.
  22. And now for a list of all the hitters with at least 20 spring AB and a higher OBP than Dewayne Wise . . . Josh Fields, AJ Pierzynski, Chris Getz, Alexei Ramirez, Gordon Beckham, Michael Restovich, Wilson Betemit, Brian Anderson, Paul Konerko, Josh Kroeger, Carlos Quentin, Jerry Owens and Jermaine Dye. That's 13 players, only 17 have at least 20 AB. The players behind Wise? Brent Lillibridge, Dayan Viciedo and Ben Broussard. So no major league hitters. Look out Grady Sizemore, Curtis Granderson, Denard Span and Covelli Crisp there's a new leadoff man in town!
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) I did that too in empathy for him since leadoff and #2 are so pressure filled. Denard Span lit a candle.
