  1. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 06:33 PM) Is this sarcasm? Did you forget Game 163? Yes, that one HR (in a game that really meant s*** in the end) makes up for the countless strikeouts and popouts into the shift when the left side of the field was wide open. Makes sense.
  2. People would appreciate Thome's time in a Sox uniform a lot more if he could ever pick up a clutch hit. 35 HR a year don't mean s*** if they're hit when it doesn't matter.
  3. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) I used to like B&B. Mostly because it seemed like they had fun. But the Aroldis Chapman trade was the last straw. Bernstein ripped the Blackhawks over Patrick Kane (no, I don't want to get into it again), but Bernstein shook off the Chapman trade as, well, sometimes you overlook these things to win. I think someone tried to call him out on it, and he pulled, the "Well, it's a different situation..." No, it's not. Either you are against abuse or you aren't. Either you give the guy a pass or you don't. Either you wait for the law to run its course or you don't. There's no gray area when it comes to abuse in any form. Or any team. Whether it be Penn State, the Blackhawks or the Cubs. I am done with them and I am done with him. The cognitive dissidence has been palpable the past few days. The Cubs radio contract is clearly a factor, Abbatacola basically admitted as much.
  4. Ranaudo can be sent down and recalled at will this year, he was optioned in '14, '15 and '16 so this is his final option year.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) Still, nobody can come up with anything that Hahn does well. Very telling. Um, the entire premise of this thread is that Hahn does this one thing well but also, so does this other guy.
  6. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) I vote for Caulfield on this one. Why should Scrubs extend Russell, Bryant, Schwarber now? Caulfield all the way. Was that the hypothesis of this thread? I feel like it wasn't but who can follow along?
  7. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) Bmags, you don't know that. I don't know that. We know enough, this isn't a court of law, we don't need evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt to draw conclusions. A preponderance of evidence works just fine.
  8. QUOTE (TRU @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) lol oh my... "This guy made a poor life choice, im not watching grown men play a game until hes gone" To categorize domestic violence as a poor life choice is f***ing stupid.
  9. These jerseys really suit Tim Anderson, such a good look on him.
  10. Lady Dynamite on Netflix is fantastic. Kinda requires you to "get" Maria Bamford's comedy going in but her portrail of her mental illness is amazing. Truly original.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) If you didn't, wouldn't he be open to waivers when we send him back down? You can't call a player up to the majors if they're not on the 40 man roster.
  12. Adam Pally alone made Happy Endings amazing
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) So who gets dfa'd or moved to the pen? Latos or Gonzalez? It'll be Latos. At least Gonzalez has been servicable, Latos' smoke and mirros act has come to an end.
  14. That was actually a legit cut, short, quick and driven oppo. He also took a pitch nicely on 1-2 just after fouling one off.
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 30, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) Seeing Thomas Middleditch as a "normal person" in those credit card commercials with Tina Fey is weird, I'm too used to him as Richard. He's actually a very good improv comedian. Surprised me with his versatility.
  16. It's kind of incredible that Paulo Orlando became a decent major league player.
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 13, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Sale is in cruise control mode right now. He can do anything he wants to do on the mound. Just a terrific pitcher. And just my opinion but Dan Plesac is very good to listen to. Knows the game, very pleasant voice. I'd love to see if he'd like to come on board as an announcer. He grew up a Sox fan by the way in Gary. He and Stone would give them the best analysts in the game. Mark Abreu is not good at first base. Not at all. I know he was looking for s*** to say but come on.
  18. A HR away from a Maddux. Something he wasn't capable of a few years ago.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 13, 2016 -> 08:02 PM) Sale's evolution this year reminds me a lot of what Sabathia did to become such a dominant pitcher in 2007. Sabathia used to throw nothing but 94-97 MPH fastballs when he first came up. He was good, but not great. Then he started changing speeds on his fastballs. He'd have different variations, a lot like Chris right now. Very good call, hadn't thought of that.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2016 -> 11:09 PM) Hawk has his favorites, for sure. I doubt he would have done that for a Gordon Beckham hitting .182 and the team 10 games under .500, but everyone has a right to get caught up in the excitement at least a little bit. It's a season and a needed fresh breeze compared to the past three seasons, and Frazier's been a huge part of changing that clubhouse environment and team "grittiness/grinderishness." Heh, of all the s*** players you could have named you chose the one guy Hawk would have left the booth to check on. Gotta make sure that seat didn't impact his strong arm.
  21. Finally watched this week's Silicon Valley and it was a shining beacon for the best characters on the show so I will provide my infallible rankings: Gilfoyle - - Dinesh Erlich (these 2 are interchangeable, Dinesh wins out because of his interactions with Gilfoyle, though Erlich did kill it in the Skunk Works montage and his confrontation with Jack Barker which I was convinced would work) - - Jared - Gavin Belson - Richard - Jian Yang - - - Big Head/Monica (best comedy around but it's really hurting on interesting female characters, Monica's basically a plot device) - - - - - - - Laurie (her one scene this week was cringe worthy, really wish they could have just let Suzanne Cryer do her own thing)
  22. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 12, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) I did not know this. These are playable on the PS4, with the trophies available and everything? PS3 version? I don't have one, the other option would be PS Now Yep, PS4 and there are actually EXTRA trophies for the PS4 version! It's like $34 on Amazon right now.
  23. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 12, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) I never owned a PS3 and I wanna play all the other Uncharted games first, f*** the way my head is wired The Nathan Drake collection for PS4 has all 3 previous games, I get wanting to play the other games, the series is pretty story driven though it's not necessary to understand Uncharted 4.
