Holy f***, please, spare us of this torture. This is really hard to watch. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) According to Statcast the average exit velocity against Danks last year was well below average. It made me optimistic for this year, but everyone is hitting him hard. He took 5 balls in that AB and somehow didn't draw a walk. -

1 positive: when Danks elevates the fastball tonight he's hitting the very top of the zone or just above. He's not leaving them belt high with 2 strikes. -

New inning, more mid 80's nibbling. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Avi swung at the good pitch to hit and let the others go by. Progress. His AB's have been much improved lately, he appears to have a much better feel for the strike zone right now, he was 100% guessing for most of April. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) Truly believe they pull the plug on Danks if he gets rocked again It sucks because I love the guy but I think he's toast, I'm not how much of a future he even has in this league at this point. Someone's always willing to give a one-time-good lefty a shot but Danks just has nothing left. His stuff is just so weak and he doesn't have nearly good enough command to make up for it, he just nibbles himself to death because he can't attack hitter like he wants to. -

The White Sox just converted a relay from the CF fence. I don't recognize this team. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) Great sequence to Trumbo. K! I really like that curveball he dropped on him. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) Danks needs to have his control, so far, not there. It's early but he's sitting at about 86 as well, topping out at 88. This is a very bad combination. -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) Over their last 162 games the Astros are 78-84. The Sox are 84-78.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) What is the deal with Gibbons and starting pitchers? Remember the fight on the field with Ted Lilly? Yep, the man's clearly a clown. He's the last want guy I'd want managing Marcus Stroman, aside from maybe Dusty.
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) So remember when Gibbons just decided to pretend he didn't have a bullpen and just left an obviously tired/hurt Estrada in to get to 118 pitches? Here's his SP postgame: For all the s*** I give RV, he's never done something 1/2 as stupid and "I'm trying to get fired" as that BS. Way to protect your players, moron. I'd have fired gibbons the second the game ended. He left him in for like 3 innings after Estrada started showing discomfort then compounded it by extending him for the longest outing of his career. One of the worst cases of manager negligence I can remember. Pretty much all media covering the game were talking about it in the 4th inning, it was pretty clear Estrada was injured. You don't f*** around with shoulders, that's how you end careers.

At least to this point Rick Hahn had one hell of an offseason.

Miguel Gonzalez optioned to AAA, Daniel Webb called up
Kalapse replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) Just as confused as you are. Thought he was out as well. Webb is the definition of a AAAA pitcher. One was used in '12 and another in '14 so he had one left. He almost had 2 left; he spent 25 total days in the minors in 2014, 6 less days and it wouldn't have burned an option. -
63% on FiveThirtyEight, best in the AL. Projections still love the Indians and their young rotation/Lindor, though.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) One thing with the throws - I saw a statinc or some stat place showed eaton last year had among the highest throwing velocity. He often throws it right in front of him. I'm wondering if him not needing to worry about hitting the mound on the throw home/being left handed in RF is just his sweet spot. But yes, all of his jumps. I love it. This team. What a surprise. His throws are definitely much improved, oddly enough the signing of Jackson has basically turned him into a mini Heyward.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) Just watching the video replays, looks like solid D again. Can't believe how fundamentally sound they have reverted into being. Really, really like Lawrie's 2b. I don't know if numbers will back it up but I'm thrilled with our IF which seemed like it could actually have been downgraded defensively. It was a very well played game defensively, everyone did their part. Eaton has become a truly elite defensive right fielder, I don't think this is a small sample size aberration, he's just unreal out there, makes it all look so easy.
-
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) He really is amazing. His only weakness is perhaps a short temper coupled with bouts of wildness that accompany it but man, he's working four pitches easy every game it seems. Now that he has that little 90 fastball he can get so many more easy groundball outs. He's evolving from an elite thrower to an elite pitcher, it's incredible to witness and he's making it look so easy.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) Our Sox just keep rolling. A winning attitude is contagious and we're seeing that with this team. Avi, Zach, AJ, Dioner...these guys don't want to be "that guy" on this team and are starting to get some swag of their own. Chris is definitely pitching more to contact this season and, while maybe not as exciting as those 10-15 strikeout nights, it's been very effective. Love seeing this offense starting to click. I think those of us who voted for better than average records in the prediction polls were expecting more from the offense being we all knew the pitching would be solid....premature, but if this offense finds its rhythm we're looking at a ~95 win season. Chris Sale had 8 starts of 7+ IP with less than 110 pitches in 2015, he has accomplished this feat in each of his first 5 starts this season.

QUOTE (aryzner @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) I've missed having this much fun watching the Sox. You forget after awhile just how much fun it is to follow a really good baseball team, I'm legitimately excited about every game.

I've said this maybe twice as many times this year compared to all of last but that was an incredibly enjoyable game. I love this team.

Miguel Gonzalez getting called up, Danks skipped
Kalapse replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Haven't seen it confirmed on here but Gonzalez does have an option left, 1 was used in 2012 and another in 2014, so 1 remaining.
