  1. Avi looked genuinely afraid of that maniac.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) The Sox win again, so naturally we are talking about Avi. It's warranted, he's unbelievably terrible right now and killed several rallies today.
  3. Melky Cabrera had a fantastic all around game.
  4. Brett Lawrie is the poor man's JJ Watt of baseball: he legitimately tries super hard at everything and he desperately needs you to know it and that's cool as long as he's on your team and playing well. So yeah, I like Lawrie so far.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 06:47 PM) Norman to Washington. Him vs. Odell twice a year now. 5 years, $75M with FIFTY MILLION guaranteed. f*** that.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) Brooklyn 99 is great That was a fantastic episode. The guess appearances have been crazy good this year, adding Jason Mantzoukas in a requiring role was almost unfair, perfect fit for the show. Oh and the reviews for the new season of Silicon Valley have been glowing, very much excited for its return. I just hope they do away with Suzanne Cryer's character, the Peter Gregory impression is not working.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Avi is 8th in baseball at swinging at the first pitch. https://twitter.com/baseball_ref/status/723608617275011083 2nd - out of zone swing% 8th - in zone swing% 3rd - total swing% 3rd - wiff% Basically he's swinging at everything, this tends to happen when you have no clue what you're doing at the plate and guess on every pitch. And on a semi-related note: Khris Davis has been unbelievably bad this year, his contact rates are significantly worse than any other qualified hitter. I know there was some mention of him in the offseason.
  8. It comes with hiring Theo. This is basically every Red Sox game during his reign, the teams are awesome but the pace makes their games unwatchable.
  9. This game is a f***ing soap opera.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) That's what I said about half an hour ago in Elgin, then came the sleet. And now the heavens have opened and it's near whiteout conditions with sheets of sleet/snow.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) It's actually relatively nice out right now. That's what I said about half an hour ago in Elgin, then came the sleet.
  12. Uribe's totally going deep today, it's inevitable. Hopefully the Sox are up 8 runs when it happens. PROFUNDO!
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) HRI is king of frozen pizzas This. They're fantastic.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) I just can't get on board with the Chicago pizza snobbery. Sure, if I have a choice, I prefer my local Chicago pizza joints. But if I need a quick inexpensive meal, there's nothing wrong with some Papa John's. Pizza Lunchables and Mama Celeste are even cheaper and about on par with Papa John's.
  15. Papa John's is taking over the world. Who the hell is eating this crap and why?
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) So they get assets back rather than just the money. Sometimes teams prefer to pay a little freight and get back an A ball reliever or whatever. Teams also put guys on waivers all the time to judge interest and then yank them back if they can't work out a trade. But if they waived him and DFA I'm pretty sure they can't pull him back off. Revocable waivers are used in August, if Loney were placed on waivers prior to the season beginning it'd be an unconditional release waiver. The Rays will try to work out a trade the next few days, if they can't then they'll designate him for assignment, buying them another 10 days to work out a trade without wasting a roster spot, within the first 7 days of of the DFA he can be placed on waivers, he cannot be pulled back, the claiming team is on the hook for his salary and if he goes unclaimed he becomes a free agent.

    2015 TV Thread

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) i just watch the first 2 esp of a series called Lucifer. not bad and i like it. i went and heard the soundtrack on youtube and there is some really great songs. i need to catch the rest of it over the weekend. Dude, you're stuck in the past. Time to move on.
  18. Will be revisiting the Larry Sanders Show in his honor over the weekend. He was a pioneer, the father of modern comedy and satire.
  19. Do you suppose Eaton has any idea how badly he embarrassed both himself and the locker room this morning? Does he have even a shred of self awareness?
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Deadspin still is solid, and I actually really enjoy their video game site in the network, Kotaku. Also, Will found a good home Kotaku is excellent, Deadspin, Kotaku and io9 (to a lesser extent) are frequent reads for me. And yes, Will is in a good place.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Deadspin has been mostly garbage since Leitch left, IMO, and that was awhile ago. What sports/sports media sites do you frequent that are better? Legitimately curious.
  22. So, do you suppose we'll ever have true transparency on this saga? Will we ever really know the timeline of events? At this point it's all so muddled and f***ed with nothing but contradictory media reports and innuendo to go on that it feels like we may never know exactly what happened here. We can guess to the best of our ability, connect the dots and put together a decent picture of this descent into madness but I fell like we may never know what truly transpired. I suppose the next shoe to drop is Jerry addressing the team and the subsequent media appearances, should be interesting.
