Dear lord this is spinning out of control. Just make the move already, stop trying to save him from himself.

There's no way Eaton should be leading off come tomorrow
Kalapse replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) They've invested a significant amount of money (and value, in trade) into the Eaton acquisition. The White Sox certainly not going to start Trayce Thompson or Shuck out there and abandon Eaton after just one month. Heck, it took them from 2010-2014 just to abandon Gordon Beckham. No, no they did not. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) It must have been before the hype built up so much, but back in 2009 I found a 4-pack of Goose Island Bourbon County just sitting on the shelf at Binny's. I hadn't heard of it before, but I gave it a try. I drank one bottle the first night and knew it was something special. I let the other three age 2-3 years before drinking them. Awesome stuff, but no way am I going to wait in a line of 300 people the day after thanksgiving at 6 am. Only in the past half decade or so has Bourbon County blown up into the psychotic craziness that is is. It used to just sit on shelves for months, now that craft beer has become a collector's market of sorts these big releases are just insane. (ie: Dark Lord Day)

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 6, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) I'm a big fan of brown ales. Almost any brown ale will do. Favorite brewery is Rogue, out of Oregon. Big Sky Brewing out of Montana is also one I enjoy. Big Sky Trout Slayer is a really good wheat beer.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) I've never been a huge fan of IPAs, I only use sparingly. Just not the sort of taste profile I tend to like, though I say this after having a giant Columbus Brewing Co. IPA at the Clippers-Knights game yesterday. IPAs are intellectually challenging so I have to have my head in the game to appreciate all they have to offer. If I want to just casually have a beer while watching a game or when I get home from work, my go-to for those situations is Dale's Pale. One of my favorite beer styles is the scotch ale, even though there aren't a ton of my breweries making them (too busy making the almighty IPA!). Founders Dirty Bastard, OB Old Chub are good example of this style. The style that made me interested in beer is the hefeweizen. The first I had was from Destihl in Bloomington but there are several great German ones distributed in the USA Weihenstephaner all day, every day. The ultimate Hefeweizen, true to the style and brewed by the world's oldest, continuously operating brewery.

QUOTE (South Sider @ May 7, 2015 -> 12:35 AM) Already so many awesome brews/breweries mentioned. rabbit is on point, Trader Joe's doesn't upcharge you for a make your own 6 pack. It's not the best selection since it's such a small store, but they work hard to bring in solid offerings. Scored a couple 6 packs of Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA from there (YUM). I made the trip into the city on the rainout Saturday. Since there was no game, I figured it would be a good idea to visit Revolution brewpub for the first time. Obviously, a great idea. Their food was awesome. I had fish and chips, and the bacon fat popcorn was awesome. Their fries....godly. Anyways I was with a buddy who had never had a drop of alcohol in his life, and he just turned 21 a few months ago. He agreed to try a few sips of various samplers that I ordered. I was originally drinking a Fist City, he didn't like it so I ordered a Cross of Gold golden ale, Bottom Up wit and Thee Destroyer double IPA. I knew he would hate the IPA, but to my surprise he also didn't care for the other two. Oh well, he's new to this. What was really sweet, is that our server pretended that it was his birthday and brought him a sample size of Absinthe Minded, an imperial porter aged in absinthe barrels. Obviously, he hated it, but found it interesting because of the heavy black licorice flavors. Porters aren't really for me, either, but it was up to me to finish it so I let my predispositions go. An interesting beer, for sure! Had a Riding High APA at the brewpub last week, fantastic beer. Thee Destroyer was also great and Fist City is going to be my beer of the summer, basically a lighter Ant-Hero which can be a bit much for heavy summer drinking. Tried the Victory Kirsch Gose yesterday, so so good, incredibly refreshing drinkable beer with much more subtle salty notes than most Gose styles (such as Off Color Troublesome which is my go to Gose), it's brewed with tart cherries which really lends itself to the style. Probably gonna pick up another 4 pack today, perfect beer for a hot day.

The postgame shows won't be the same. He and OB were always a must listen after a big win or awful loss.

Rodon Joining Sox Tomorrow - Working out of Bullpen (Initially)
Kalapse replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Get his feet wet in the majors, limit his innings and strengthen the bullpen, his handedness means little, he's dominant against all hitters. When Noesi faulters again he slides into the rotation. I don't love this plan but there's SOME logic to it. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) I hate wasting any service time coming out of the bullpen, but I have a feeling it will be a very short-term bullpen stint to preserve his innings. WhiteSox need to clear a 40 man spot and 2 25 man roster spots before tomorrow. Drabek will surely be DFA but not sure what the other move will be. The only thing that really matters when it comes to service time is years, days mean little unless you're. Worried about super 2 which really isn't a big deal. If they were planning on calling him up this season then doing it in April is No different than doing it in June. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Why isn't it logical to blame the video guys? You do understand Robin doesn't see replays. Bottom of the 9th in a tied game. He felt it necessary to make his way onto the field, if it's close enough where he's leaving the dugout, no excuse not to challenge. None.

They probably do need a new manager.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Ep 3 of Daredevil and it's awesome. I'm on episode 6, the fight scenes are just incredible.

I still can't believe the Sox got him. Oh and Pleskoff is out of his mind if he truly believes Rodon has no flaws and is going to K 12 to 13 per 9 this year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Outside of the disabled list, as far as I know yes, the Sox would have to pass him through waivers to be able to send him to AAA. If they want to hold him he needs a 25 man roster spot. This is only because he's out of options (used in '11, '13 & '14), Nieto's situation was different, he was a rule V draft pick, so if the Sox wanted to send him down they'd have to offer him back to the Nationals first.

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Harris Wittels, Parks and Rec producer. 30. Drug addict. The foam corner will live on in all our hearts.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Good lord. You're paying over double his value. This idea that this one hero is going to win us a world series is just silly. And does anyone even bother to look at his recent production? + on the hook contractually thru age 37. Tampa can keep its hero. Imagine being able to sign a 29 year old free agent 3B with a career 130 wRC+ and 14.9 UZR/150 to a 9 year, $129.5M deal tomorrow. What do you suppose $19.5M owed 8 years from now is worth in present day value?
-
Comparing AJ Burnett's accomplishments/value going into the 2005 season to Evan Longoria's through this point in his career is pretty spectacular, just really spot on, poignant stuff. The definition of "recent production" has truly taken on an especially myopic definition of late.

That journeyman outfielder did win the ROY award in 2009, he may not be good but he has flashed talent in the past.

Mannelly was only ok on the air but dear lord there is no one in the business worse than Kaplan.

Sox sign Gordon Beckham, designate Viciedo for Assignment
Kalapse replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Total nerd move taking shots at Philo Beddoe. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) My real question is why we didn't sign Chad Billingsley for 1.5 MM like the Phillies just did. By my count that's the 155th player the Sox have missed out on. Shameful.

f***ing nerds are ruining all that was once precious in this country. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) This signing is already a huge win cause you brought that sig back. It's one of my favorites, elegant just like BA.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) I just don't see it. Sure, Anderson is a good defender. The problem is that he can't hit worth sh!t. Essentially, he is the right handed version of Jordan Danks. Because Jordan Danks has a first round pedigree and a ring? There's a strong emphasis on defense in today's game, more so than we've ever seen before, Anderson's ELITE level defense would be invaluable between Melky and Avisail.
