Judging from his comments, Chauncey's almost undoubtedly going to the Heat. He wants no part of being claimed and he's letting it be known.

Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) Greg, about 20 minutes ago, Dan Bernstein commented on his radio show here in Chicago (a show that usually has the most critical listeners) that he was shocked at how little the Sox fans cared about Buehrle leaving. The only real outrage I've seen or heard so far today has been from 2 posters on this board. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) 1.) Why? Letting the best pitcher in White Sox history (arguably) go? 2.) What I'm trying to say is it's now easy for Jerry to go cheap again. Team is not going to win anything and he'll gladly strip the payroll to shreds IMO. 3.) Thank u el rockin. Guys like milkman act like nobody agrees to me. Listen to the talk shows. You don't think fans are going to express outrage? Just because I have a different opinion of you doesn't mean my opinion is not shared by others, Milk. I CANT BELIEVE many of you think this had nothing to do with Mark loving playing for Oz at all. Yes, he ONLY picked Florida because of the offer. Sure. When was the last time Jerry Reinsdorf "went cheap"? please, please, please answer this question. -
The Sox have $91.75M guaranteed to 15 players in 2012, Danks and Quentin not included. Before they went "All In" and lost in 2011 the Sox had a payroll around $101M in 2010.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) When you are in a big city like Chicago you shouldn't have to rebuild. You re-tool thru free agency and the draft. The White Sox have signed the WRONG GUYS and KW keeps his job. Great. Hope the 10,000 fans in the stands enjoy watching Rios and Dunn every day and Peavy every fifth day until he gets hurt. Have fun with Oz, Mark. Baseball is meant to be fun and once again reading the last issue of ESPN The Magazine, Ozzie is certainly fun. I'm confused, do you want the Sox to win or have fun? -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) OK, that's argument. Fair enough. But, let's just hope we don't keep sucking. Agreed? QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) Let it go. He doesn't understand a single aspect of the business side of sports. Asshole -
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) Even better then if it's a minor league deal and ST invite. Why not. What the hell. You can say that about any player. What exactly makes Rowand different? Is it the fact that he's Aaron Rowand because that's not a good enough reason.
-
QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Bring back AROW! Well if we need a 5th OF and can get him for very cheap. He's getting $12 mil this year from the Giants anyway. One year 1.5 mil? Would you really say no to him for $1.5 mil? Not like we have a MLB ready OF prospect ready for 2012 anyway. De Aza, Rios, Quentin, Viciendo, Lilli. CQ is prolly gone and Lilli can be a util IF. De Aza, Viciendo for sure and Rowand/Rios/? as 3-5. Ugly but when Rios takes up all that $ you have to find deals for your other OFs. Heh, he's looking at a minor league contract with an invite to spring training.

QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) we all need to check ourselves a bit on the hypocrisy front. I am certain every person is a hypocrite at some point. right god? Being a hypocrite shouldn't preclude one from calling another a hypocrite, after all they're just doing what comes natural. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) This is infuriating. When will KW be fired. Mark picks Oz. What a joke of an organization. And where was Jerry to intervene in this one?? And express Paulie-like love for Mark? Cheapass owner. He didn't pick Ozzie, he picked 4 years, $58M. That's more than the Sox payed him 4 years ago when he was in his prime. The Marlins are throwing around metric f***tons of money, overbidding like mad, Mark took the best offer on the table, I do not expect you to understand this concept. -

Christ, they were the highest bidder on Reyes by $15M-$25M from what I've read, $27M to the incredibly scary Heath Bell and now they've guaranteed Buehrle 4 years. Talk about crazy risk. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) you seriously just ignored the numbers there didn't you... wtf?? You're trying to make a case for who's the better player NOW, what happened 4 years ago is basically irrelevant. Going off a basic 3 year window dating back to 2009 your leaders in WAR at the SS position are: 18.4 Tulo 13.2 Hanley 12.2 Jeter 11.6 Alexei wOBA: .396 Tulo .374 Hanley .355 Reyes .348 Jeter UZR/150: 6.0 Tulo -7.3 Hanley Better offensively, WAY better defensively. Tulo

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) Was Matusz worse? Not sure if he went over 100 IP. Only made it to 50 IP. Matusz had one of the single worst seasons of any starter with double digit starts in the modern era. He allowed almost 15 H/9 and 18 HR (3.3 HR/9) in 49.2 IP.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) Bergesen was the second worst pitcher in baseball with over 100 innings last year. He and Brian Matusz made for a formidable duo. Is Bergesen even seen as a major league pitcher at this point? He doesn't have the stuff for the pen.
-
Blah, Bergesen is 26 with 2 years of service and is mediocre to brutal depending on how much you believe in his fluky rookie season where he sported s*** peripherals. I prefer my starters strike someone out. Source is Merkin so I'll take it with a grain of salt.

The original tweet which includes a telling note: Never a good sign for a 34 year old vet.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Reyes to 2B or Ramirez to 3B? Ramirez to 3B. We'll see how he likes that.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) 100% agree. He is completely unbearable in that show. While I'm on my soap box, Ken Marino in Party Down is a MUCH better character than Steve Carell in the Office. Both serve a similar purpose for the show, and it's not even close which one is funnier or a better character. Did you watch Party Down on my recommendation or before that? Great show, outstanding cast, if you can tolerate Adam Scott's weird face on Parks and Rec then you can do the same for 20 episodes of Party Down, Martin Starr's full blown nerd consternation is not to be missed.
-
This one will end (start?) badly. 34 years old, K rate plunged to 7.3 last season while sporting an average walk rate and a low HR/FB despite the average GB%. Eh, quite a bit of risk here. 3.67 xFIP, we'll see if it's a precursor.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) So you're saying this guy edited this tape in 2003, before he gave it to ESPN? Is there a reason why this hasn't been addressed? The tape wasn't recorded last month, it's been sitting in a file cabinet in Bristol for 8 years. The capabilities of modern audio editing software is moot, the latest the recording could have been edited was 2003, when it first surfaced. What was the most common method of recording phone calls in 2003? I'm gonna say Bobby Davis probably turned a microcassette over to ESPN as opposed to the digital audio files prevalent today, further increasing the degree of difficulty in fabricating such a conversation.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) It was the INT when Knox fell on his ass and didn't get up to chase down the DB and Cutler had to... f*** ME!!!! This absolutely sucks ass!!! Depending on the severity...it really wouldn't surprise me to see him play thru it. Even if you're a Cutler hater (which I've never been)...this guy has shown a HUGE set of nads out there this year. He's been phenomenal... Yeah, Laurence Holmes mentioned that play. He grabbed with his throwing hand then fell on it and stayed down out of bounds for a bit. What a way to possibly end your season. -
