  1. @dan_bernstein Dan Bernstein Coaches, best I can tell: Coop stays. Cora goes w/Oz, Walker out. Baines whatever he wants. Next mgr Davey Martinez? Alomar Jr.? 1 minute ago via web I do like that he invoked Martinez's name.
  2. @dan_bernstein Dan Bernstein As we first told you this afternoon, Oz met again w/JR today. Deal will be made to send him to FLA. Probably prospects, not MLB talent. 7 minutes ago via web

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Just won tickets to see a screening of Moneyball w/ cocktails and dinner hosted by Richard Roeper this coming Monday. That's awesome. At the iPic in South Barrington, yes?
  5. So the Sox currently hold the 15th pick in the draft and are a half game back of the Mets for the 12th pick.
  6. Given Ozzie's close relationship with JR and his referring to Reinsdorf as 'God' in the past I'm sure that's just Ozzie's broken english comming through.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) Check out Amy Schumer's Comedy Central special if you get a chance. Good stuff. Yeah, she's really good, the Comedy Central half hours can be hit and miss compared to their live act, lots of editing but her's was terrific. She was on Doug Benson's podcast from Bumbershoot a few weeks back, anyone who wants to get an idea of what she's about can easily check that out.

My dream job is bench coach. What a sweet gig: park your ass on the bench next to a solid vet manager, discuss strategy, steal signs, run through splits and take over when the manager gets run; awesome. I could be the next joe nossek, loved that guy.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) Ozzie's getting into it on twitter right now with some comments about radio. Unless it's some fake Ozzie Guillen twitter which is possible in this twit-age. I believe he's pissed off about something said on MLBN. Oh man, it's going to suck when the new manager doesn't go on unintelligable rants about the media/fans/opponents/space program. To connect 2 seperate threads: the #1 trait I'm looking for in the next manager? Well it's a 3 way tie between a rudimentary understanding of the english language, a ridiculously short fuse and a crippling sense of insecurity. I guess what I'm saying is that Ozzie's cock must be so small that it's invisible to the naked eye.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) Rivera's postseason numbers: 8-1, 0.71 ERA, 139.2 IP, 2 homers, 21 BB, 109 K That's also 42 extra saves compared to Hoffman's 4.

Warrior, Drive and The Debt all getting favorable reviews is really good to see. It'd be nice to have out there some good movies that really interest me.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) Chris said flat out that he is under Sox control until 2015 It's definitely the case. I don't know why a Sox beat-writer would have such trouble with something like this, it's incredibly straight forward, to put that in an article that's specifically focused on the 2012 rotation is pretty sad. All you have to remember is it doesn't mean a damn thing how many times a player has been traded, released or claimed off waivers, his service number stays with him and determines his free agent status. If he's going to have 2 years of service following this season and is not under contract then he's ours for 4 more years and will be pre-arb next season, easy stuff. I know it sounds like a small miscue but the illogical approach he had to take in order to come to the conclusion he did is inexcusable. He'll make like $550-$600K next season.
  13. Russell Martin hit a grandslam today. So did Robinson Cano. And Curtis Granderson. First time that's ever happened.
  14. Clearly the problem with the Dodgers is their legendary television announcer. I mean sure the guy embodies all that is great about the game of baseball and is arguably the best ever at his craft and is still incredible at his job but NO ONE in the Dodgers' organization is beyond reproach, dammit.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) The Sox do actually have a number of intriguing relievers to pull up, but keep a few things in mind... --Lindsay, while talented, still struggles mightily with his control. Look at his peripherals. They may not think he's ready for patient MLB hitters. --Reed, if they wait another couple weeks for the 9/1 callups, they avoiding starting his arb clock. Another year of him for cheap is probably more important than adding him now. --Infante... no idea, I thought he'd come up. There are other guys too, like Remenowsky and Nunez, but Rem doesn't seem ready yet and Nunez... like Infante, I have no idea why he wasn't called up. His clock starts on September 1st anyway. September callups get credit for their 30 or so days service so calling up reed now would save us like 12 days of service, which will mean absolutely nothing in the long term.
  16. Is there any other manager in baseball who routinely calls the fans idiots?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) So our great scouts can take a great second baseman prospect like Beckham? Beckham had tremendous trade value a year and a half ago, Sale currently has good trade value and the same could be said for any highly touted player we take in the top 10 next year. You can say a high draft pick has a good chance of busting, I say at the very least a high draft pick has good trade value within a year or 2 of being drafted if he puts up decent numbers in the minors kind of like #13 pick Brett Wallace (Matt Holliday) and #5 pick Drew Pomeranz (Jimenez). Not to mention Justin Smoak (Cliff Lee) and Zack Wheeler (Carlos Beltran) who were traded 2 years after being drafted.

  19. Don't know if this has been mentioned at all or if there's any draft picks that will be held over to next year do to not signing but we're currently 11th in draft order and 2 games back of the #8 Dodgers. But yeah, playoff push!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) He has shown it now. the reality is if you look at it from the day of the trades' perspective. Stewart is higher rated than Hudson was.Hudson was rated #55 in Baseball Prospectus' top 100 for 2010 and #66 by Baseball America. Stewart failled to make either list in 2011, the only prospect evaluater that I've even seen rave about Stewart is Law putting him at #44, Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus doesn't even think he's a starter.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) I added Lexi because aside from last night's homer he's been pretty blah this season. I like him overall but he could get a huge hit now and then. A 3.6 WAR 4 months into the season is not "blah", it's good for 30th in baseball and has made him worth $16.1M this season. He's also hitting .338/.410/.527/.937 this season in close and late situations and .333/.385/.563/.949 in high leverage situations, he's been huge when it has counted most. One of the last players we should be b****ing about is Alexei.

  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) 1.) Are you serious? Fire Ozzie for something his kid tweeted? About a stiff like Teahen? Wow. 2.0 If this is not a joke, you are kind of a bad guy for finking on Sergio. I doubt Sergio told you that stuff for you to post it on the internet. Wow. p.s. If Ozzie does take the bait on this and goes off on what a no good that Teahen is, then maybe that will be a fireable offense. But for the actions of his kid? On Twitter? No way. Twitter is a joke; Teahen is a joke of a baseball player. And that is completely irrelevant. Ozzie wanted his loser kid in the clubhouse and got his way, the kid abused that access when he took to twitter and started taking shots at players, this is hardly the first time this has happened and I'm sure it will not be the last. Ozzie allowing his classless, juvenile son in the clubhouse then taking absolutely no steps to rein him in when he started making trouble has turned into a fairly major, multi-season distraction for this club. That on top of all the other bulls*** on and off the field with Ozzie adds up to a fireable offense. I can't believe players want to come to this organization, the Guillen's have turned it into a classless operation.
  25. Remember: Oney Guillen's antics are not a distraction to the club, no one in that clubhouse had any issues with his tweets, they are all his friends and he is a grown man who's allowed to do whatever he pleases, the fact that he's Ozzie Guillen's son and only had access to the clubhouse due to nepotism is irrelevant.
