QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Do you need an option if you sign a minor league deal? No but if he's added to the major league roster any time this season he can't be sent down without first passing through waivers.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 01:39 AM) It's a minor league contract. He will be assigned to the minors if he doesn't make the roster. For him to be added to the 25-man roster, he also had to be added to the 40-man. I have no idea what his option situation is right now, but I imagine he is out of options, so if the Sox were to add him and then drop him, he'd have to be exposed to waivers to be sent down. There may be an out-clause in his contract that if he isn't on the 25-man by some point in the season he can ask for his release, but with someone that young and unproven, I really tend to doubt it. He is out of options.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Hahahaha Melton goes 0 for 3 on the outfield. He was just on the radio and is STILL calling Putz "Pootz" and Sale "Sales". -

QUOTE (qwerty @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) All that i know is inception was not unique. Unique is one of a kind. I know no one said such... but it was ripped off entirely. Maybe down the road nolan will admit it. It really makes me sad, I adore his movies. http://disneycomics.free.fr/Ducks/Rosa/sho...-033&s=date

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) Totally agree here. And I'm one that's usually pretty cold-hearted. It'd be open season on White Sox hitters were we to go that route. And this is one of the things that I actually like about Ozzie. For as brazen as he can be he would never allow that kind of disrespectful tomfoolery in his clubhouse. When I was reading Jonny Gomes' (alleged) celebratory sing and dance number after Wainwrights injury I thought to myself: Ozzie would never allow this kind of bulls*** from his players. And yes, that is an excellent quality in a manager.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) Peavy will regain his previous strength and his fastball will be the same as it was prior to the injury. There is nothing wrong with the muscle it just needs to be strengthened. how long that takes is the question. I still think he will be ready for the beginning of the season or soon thereafter. As stated before, can he be effective without his tendency to drop down is the key. Physically he will be unchanged. I gotta say: since July of last year all I've been hearing from the pundits of sports talk is that Jake Peavy won't be ready until midseason (if ever - B&B) and yet you've said since the very beginning it seems that Peavy could -- or will -- be ready by around the beginning of the season and as of right now it looks like you're right on. If he stays on schedule, this is a great call on your part. I guess actual expertise wins out over idol speculation.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) There is no way the Cards trade a young cost controlled player like Rasmus who has shown great upside both offensively and defensively for Mark Buehrle at 2 years $29M (his 1/15 options vests if traded). That would be a great trade for the sox in terms of getting a younger player coming into his prime vs. trading away an older player on the other side of the performance hill. Then we have the issue of essentially having a 3 man rotation while the team is in win now mode (until Peavy comes back). Then we have the issue of having absolutely no where to play him in this year, in order to play him in the OF either Quentin or Pierre goes to the bench (pretty expensive bench players). So despite all of us wanting Rasmus, the Cardinals needing pitching, and Buehrle having a cardinals boner, this deal makes ZERO SENSE. I keep seeing people reference this but I do believe they're mistaken. That language was only included in the contract to protect Buehrle from trade until his 10/5 rights kicked in midway through last season, once he got to 10 years of service with the White Sox the $1M kicker and guaranteed 5th year are null. I'm pretty damn sure his contract runs out at the end of the 2011 season, regardless of what team he's playing for. If a team trades for Buehrle they're taking on a 1 year, $14M contract.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) Yeah, it took me a few to get into season 1, but once I got to about episode 4, it really picked up. I have no idea what to expect for season 2...is it based in Baltimore again? If so, is it the same police characters? As far as I know the entire run of the show takes place in Baltimore aside from a few excursions to NJ, NY and Philly (that's just the way David Simon does it, he's immensely familiar with the city). Same characters but there is, of course, fallout for a few people for what went down in season 1 but all the regulars are there.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) I just recently started The Wire, as I never watched it back in the day when it was on HBO. Finished season 1 last night. It was definitely solid. Starting season 2 tonight. That's funny because I've been doing the same. I'm about half way through season 3 right now. The first handful of episodes in season 2 were excruciatingly boring, IMO. Other than that though it's been great.

Think about this: Jake Peavy has been a member of the White Sox organization for 573 days now and he's made a grand total of 20 starts. Crazy. Another fun fact: his WHIP and win percentage are better in a Sox uniform than in a Padres uni. AND his peripherals are nearly identical aside from his K/9 being down a full SO from his San Diego days.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Oh, that looked like Danks to me in the tiny version, so I never clicked it. They both make the same funny underbite face when they pitch. Because Danks throws with his right hand? How dare you, sir!
