I truly wish Phil Rogers would just go away, the man is a f***ing braindead clown.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 01:31 AM) I got the movie completely, doesn't mean I had to like it. I just couldn't stand how all over the place it was. I'm pretty offended by both of these posts. First of all, you couldn't pay me to go see Little Fockers. 2nd, I loved Hot fuzz, didn't see Shaun of the Dead. I enjoyed a lot of things about Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and I certainly got it, I just didn't like it. Don't be offended, it's all in good fun. First thing to do: see Shaun of Dead, it's a lot more like Hot Fuzz than Scott Pilgrim and if you enjoy that watch the British tv show "Spaced", this you may not like since it's kind of spastic but it stars Simon Pegg who is great, he was also the head writer on the show along with the female lead who had a cameo in Shaun of the Dead. Oh and stop hating fun.

QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) Fantastic series. Last I checked, Firefly was streaming. Unless you mean Serenity. And if you didn't enjoy Scott Pilgrim, then I'm incredibly sorry for you and you obviously missed the point. It's a fun movie, and damn near impossible not to enjoy. Same goes for Kick-Ass, for that matter. Spoilers ahoy (not that it matters): You know what it is? They just don't like fun. There, I said it. Anyone who doesn't enjoy Scott Pilgrim just straight up HATES fun and I find that sad. Why would you hate fun? Fun is awesome and Scott Pilgrim = fun. Oh Chris Evans did a grind on a rail for a full minute the burst into coins and that vegan guy had a plate of chicken parm. and lost his vegan powers because of it and then burst into coins, Scott Pilgrim earned the power of love and self respect then kicked the s*** out of Jason Schwartzman with the help of that cute Asian chick by the name of Knives. This isn't fun? It's the f***ing definition of the word fun god dammit. I love how the word "hype" can be used to in conjunction with Scott Pilgrim vs The World: the movie made thirty one million at the box office, NO ONE saw it in theaters, it bombed. Congrats to those who didn't like the movie, not only do you hate fun but you're falling into the rank and file, I'm sure you loved Little Fockers which made as much in its opening weekend as Scott Pilgrim did TOTAL in the US despite being a steaming pile of s***. It's amazing that an abomination like Transformers 2 can make $100M in its opening weekend and all 3 of Edgar Wrights' awesome movies made a grand total of $66M in the United States. Unbelievable.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) I agree that Oney went over the line, and he should keep his mouth shut! I disagree that Bobby kept it professional. Everyone here wanted Ozzie gone because he kept sending Jenks up there last season remember? Now Bobby tells media Ozzie doesn't know how to run a bullpen! Hypocrite! Then go after Jenks with that don't air his dirty laundry in public. If Jenks is going to criticize the way Ozzie does his job and Ozzie's dips*** son feels the need to defend his father's honor then turn around and go after Jenks for his on-field performance. There's plenty of ammunition there. If turnabout is fair game then at least keep it fair.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) Exactly! As far as Bobby goes, 'dont throw stones if you live in a glass house' Except Bobby kept it professional, he was b****ing about on the field stuff. Oney came right back with ultra personal information. What the f*** ever happened to the high road?
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) I don't think the first one happens, as Oney is an adult and he can tweet whatever he wants. I assume Oney hasn't learned any of this in a dinner conversation, but while being in the clubhouse when he was younger. As far as the team talk, even if it happens we probably won't know about it. When his tweets have the potential to complicate Ozzie's career then no he can't tweet whatever the hell he wants. I've spent some time at my father's workplace over the years and gotten to know his coworkers, if I starting sharing sensitive, personal information about his former coworkers he'd stomp my f***ing ass and I'd say we have a pretty close relationship. Oney's pampered lifestyle is direct result of his father's hard work and ability to hold a job in the game of baseball, why Oney would want to put that at risk is beyond me. I suppose it arises from that family's ridiculous machismo.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) The answer to this is. Paul Konerko. If he thought playing for Ozzie was a bad or some awful distraction, he'd a been bye bye. Same with AJ. Both had offers to go elsewhere; both stayed. Case closed. Wait, the same guy who went on the radio after re-signing and claimed that all the bulls*** surrounding Ozzie last season was in fact a distraction and probably affected play on the field? It's funny because the sparing between KW and Oz really got going when Ozzie's son was terminated for being a f***ing asshat which Guillen took as a personal affront. At this point how could anyone think firing Oney was anything but a good move?

Cooper -- in a totally dick move, IMO -- mentioned on the radio today that Peavy looks great and may be ready for Spring Training. Yeah, he said Spring Training, he's probably wrong and is getting my hopes up just to have them dashed when he actually returns in June but the man did use the words "Spring Training". I don't think anyone knows when the hell he'll be back, anybody who takes a guess as to his probable return date (aside from Coop, perhaps since he's the one witnessing Peavy's throwing first hand) is talking out their ass because no pitcher has ever experienced this injury as far as I know.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) Yeah, I covet MLB the Show and I kick myself in the ass for buying a stand-alone Blu-Ray player last year and not coughing up the extra $100 for a PS3 last year. I had the money, too. I deserve to be mocked for this dumbass decision. Funny that you mention this because I have a couple of friends who have recently doled out around $200 on Blu-Ray players when they could have had PS3's for -- as you said -- about a hundred dollars more. CNet mentions this all the time: the industry standard for Blu-Ray players is the PS3, it is the absolute best quality Blu-Ray player on the market, when CNET does their reviews of Blu-Ray players they compare the quality to a PS3. Oh and on top of that top notch Blu-Ray player you get a built in 160 gig hard drive, internet browser, amazing media center and oh yeah; it plays PS3 games. Whenever someone brings up possibly purchasing a Blu-Ray player I always recommend ponying up the extra dough and buying a PS3, you just get more bang for your buck even if you're not going to play games on it.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Yeah, on the game selection, neither console really has anything going and I think really they are just trying to milk the same cash cow Nintendo was pulling from. Which is fine, but I mean they *did* actually update the technology and it looks like they both have a lot of potential. But to do what exactly? I really want to see a franchise MLB or NBA game for the 360 or the PS3 (nothing really precludes me from buying a PS3, it's just there's nothing on there that I want to do that I can't do on the 360). Nobody's really tried that yet and especially for the Wii, it seems like they just kind of arbitrarily make note of it in the controls to acknowledge that it's there, but it doesn't do anything. MLB the Show and Uncharted disagree, my friend. Also, I'm enjoying the crap out of Gran Turismo, holy s*** is this good.

Seattle/St Louis will be played at night and the Giants and Eagles games also flexed to mid day. You have to think Bears/Packers would pull the highest ratings of all the flexed games if moved to 7:20. Don't know if there was more standing in their way (I assume there was) but that's the direction I would have gone.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) What advice was this? I believe he's talking about Scott Pilgrim. I'm gonna watch Interstate 60 tonight. Looking forward to it.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) A complete aside, but guess who's finally taking your advice? You better enjoy it, if not, don't even bother letting me know because you're dead to me.

It's funny because I f***ing hated Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder, he was funny for a few minutes but after that it was just way too much. I'm definitely in the minority on that one.
-
Darren Oliver and Arthur Rhodes in the same bullpen is just awesome.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Tropic Thunder was an awesome, awesome movie. Robert Downey Jr is great. Agreed. That's actually my favorite role of Jack Black's as well. Comedies are so damn subjective, I mean I personally despise The Other Guys, I couldn't stomach that dreck but it's pretty well thought of by the masses. It's very rare that you find a comedy that's well received by all.

YES! Beat the Devil, god I loved that. James Brown was out of his mind and Gary Oldamn as the wild, wheel-chaired Satan. What is there not to love? I'd also add Romeo is Bleeding, it's not a very good movie but Oldman is so f***ing good as the piece a of s*** cop. The man has such incredible range and has been in the business for so damn long it's hard to find much of anything to dislike. Prick up Your Ears is another very good role and movie for that matter that he did early in his career along side Alfred Molina, I recommend that one. And yes, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern is probably my favorite role of his as it's one of my all time favorite movies largely because of his part and the incredible plot device that is the gold coin. This kind of goes hand and hand with State of Grace in a way: he plays the dimwit well. I like to pretend The Fifth Element never happened.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) What do you think of interstate 60: episodes of the road? I'd never heard of it until just now. Looks interesting with a bizarre cast, I'm a HUGE Gary Oldman fan and yet I don't even remember seeing that movie on his IMDB filmography. The cover art is terrible, makes it look like a lame ass road comedy but from the description this does not appear to be the case. Funny that James Marsden starred in it, he was also in Sex Drive which IMO is a lame ass road comedy. Have you seen this movie?
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) I got to see Little Fockers for free, for the love of god, do not see that movie. I figured it would be brutal but holy crap the early returns have it on pace for a Razzie nom. It's at 9% on Rotten Tomatoes right now.

Favre's active and starting.
-
It'd be fine if they were forced to play on horrible field conditions on the opponents regular, home, NFL field but that's not the case here. They're putting the players at unnecessary risk playing a on field that's not meant to be played on at this time of year because they're so gun-ho about keeping the game in Minnesota rather than moving it to one of the readily available domes in the relative area. It's all just very silly.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) How many tied games are closers supposed to leave with the lead with? Good call, worded that wrong. He entered 5 tied games and allowed the go ahead run in 3 of those. I can't think of a good way to word that.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 07:12 PM) Actually he really wasn't. Lot of bad luck, and most of his damage came in low-mid leverage situations. He was pretty nails in the clutch. In what world is a .306/.364/.449/.813 opponent's line "nails"? On top of the blown saves and outing in Minnesota where he handed a blown save to Santos he also entered 5 tied games and allowed the go ahead run to score 3 times.

Kerry Wood signs 1 year, $1.5 million deal with Cubs
Kalapse replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) (he did do the towel drill too though) anyways, i dont like wood at the 2/12 that he wants, hes just now reliable at all. i realize u can say that about any reliever but i rather stay away, esp. since he doesnt want to be here. But if he does sign here then isn't that a moot point? He's not going to sign here if he doesn't want to play for the team, we're not the only organization interested in him.
