  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Uhhhh, I hate that. America is the onl damn country that calls it soccer. Pisses me off. And the only one not to use the metric system. And the only....... Soccer is the perfect name for the sport. The metric system sucks, hurray standard. America Rawks
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) That's what I thought.. Thanks NP anytime.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) LOL - that's exactly what I hate. A joke of a football player deciding the game. ^^^ Indeed. Anytime a soccer player is deciding the outcome of an American Football game, something is wrong.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) I don't want ot get too off-topic but yes, they are. They score more points than most actual players and the ycan win or lose a game with just 1 kick. Back to baseball... They score more points than anyone because they kick extra points which anyone can do. I could go out and kick extra points for the Bears if I was given a shot.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) I meant that middle relievers are under-appreciated like kickers but that is off-topic. But kickers aren't under appreciated.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Illini/Arizona 2005 FF ^^^ same.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Middle relievers in MLB = Kickers in NFL???? No. Kickers in the NFL are not overrated, they are rated just fine. They are not as important as a good middle reliever.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) They wont let you bring camcorders into the parks, but if you did get one in and got caught, then yes you'd get into trouble. Edit: Mike.. FWIU it's against the rules to tape any part of a copyrighted telecast.. is that not correct?? I tried to tape during the All Star events in Boston - prior to the Futures game - and I was warned to put the camera away or they would have to take it.. MLB has the rights to all action going on, on the field. If you are recording play on the field you are breaking numerous copyright laws. Only their cameras can record the game.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) April: 3/9 appearances were not starting an inning May: 6/10 appearances were not starting an inning June: 2/9 appearances were not starting an inning FWIW Not to mention 24 inherited runners. With only 4 of those scoring.
  10. That's why he's inherited 24 runners this year right?
  11. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) jesus. pitching without the lead is more important than pitching with a one-run lead in the ninth? come on man. stick to the stats argument. and you don't get saves for coming into a game with a four-run lead. You do if you come in with the bases loadad.
  12. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) jesus. pitching without the lead is more important than pitching with a one-run lead in the ninth? come on man. stick to the stats argument. and you don't get saves for coming into a game with a four-run lead. It seems now that you're focusing in on one guy (Soxfan1) and ignoring the other solid arguments being stated.
  13. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) he leads the al in saves. he has an era of 2.80. he's 21 of 24 in save opps. he pitches much more meaningful innings than politte. sorry if i failed to mention that. 2.80 ERA is not good for a closer neither are any of his other stats other than Saves.
  14. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) yep, all he does is close games. that's not important. pitching well in the 7th and 8th -- now that's what really counts. you got me. a fantastic argument. So in your mind this year: Foulke> Politte because he closes games and cliff doesn't.
  15. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) my point is, when shingo was crapping the bed, and politte was so awesome, why didn't we turn to him to close full-time? Hermanson was better than Politte at the time. Plus Hermanson had more prior experience closing than Cliff.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Questions, with fantasy implications... When is Schilling coming back? Is Nomar playing? If so, when? Is Armando Benitez coming back? If so, when? Right after the All-Star break. Nomar might be back in August, maybe. Armando is the same as nomar excempt probably early Sept.
  17. This s*** is pointless. Since stats appearently meen nothing here, there really is not argument either way. I'm done.
  18. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) how is carlos lee 14, that is ridiculous The fan vote is retarded.
  19. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) lol well i SHOULD be able to have sex with heidi klum, but that's not happening either. That doesn't even make any f***ing sense. You lost, grow up.
  20. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) i listed you 12 guys who i think are all-star pitchers. the one guy you don't think is going to go is bob wickman, the saves leader. i am willing to make wagers with anyone and everyone that cliff politte isn't going to the all-star game. i'll bet ANYTHING on this. The arguement isn't will he go, the arguement is should he go. Completely different thing.
  21. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) a guy who closes games for a living is more deserving than a guy who holds leads in the 7th and 8th for a living. i really don't understand how you don't get this. Wickman isn't even that good of a closer. Politte is the most valuable middle reliever in the AL this season. So since a closer is more deserving simply because he's a closer than Foulke should go to the All-Star game of Cliff too right?
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Nah. They are top 5 for sure. Maybe top 3. I gotta give Minny the best bullpen honors. Look at the stats they do.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Politte has an ERA in the 1's, and, need it be mentioned again, has allowed 4 of 24 inherited runners to score. And if the most specific you are going to get on ERA is "damn good", you are being far, far too general. Both Mark Buehrle and Roger Clemens have "damn good" ERA's, but Clemens has clearly been superior to Mark in that category this year, putting up an unbelievably low ERA of 1.51, while Buehrle is at 2.48. Politte has been superior to Wickman in all categories this year except saves. It should also be noted that Crain has allowed more runs(5) than Politte(4), though they have both allowed the same amount of earned runs. Politte's RA(run average) of 1.23 is better than Crain's RA of 1.30 There's no point in trying to convince him. He refuses to look at all the stats. And just keeps repeating himself, the argument has become pointless.
  24. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) alright, well since we're back on ERA, crain goes in front of politte. God Damn it. Look at all the stats of the top closers, WHIP, BAA, OPSA, K/9 Wickman is behind in all of them. You're the one who brought up ERA, I showed you his ERA sucks compared to other AL closers. Politte's stats> Crain's Politte's stats> Wickman Top three closers in the ALs stats> Wickman. You have absolutley no argument here.
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) Indians were suppose to have an awful bullpen... i was told this by everyone and they thought i was crazy for thinking other wise. Youngstown Indians seemed to think they had a good bullpen.
