  1. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) David Schwimmer? the only crowd that would cheer him is the crowd for Oprah. I think if David Schwimmer were to show up on the big screen, there would be a resounding "meh" from all in attendance. I pretty much just pulled some s***ty celeb out of my ass that I know has no connection to Chicago or the White Sox. I like Vince Vaughn he's from the Chicago land area and has talked about the Sox in the past.
  2. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) You kind of said that you didn't want celeb apperances to become a thing. I said I liked seeing Vince Vaughn at the game yesterday because I respect him as an actor and I have heard him say good things about the Sox in the past. However I don't like the idea of being at the Sox game and seeing David Schwimmer on the video screen and having the crowd give them an ovation for being at the game. They can come to the game I just don't like the idea of the fans applauding them for being there. It has a cubesque feel to it.
  3. All-City second baseman Who's the second baseman on your All-City team? 99.0% Tadahito Iguchi, White Sox (5171 responses) 1.0% Todd Walker, Cubs (53 responses) 5224 total responses
  4. Gooch's votes are currently going up 10 per second.
  5. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) who the f*** is some poster to say whether he doesn't want vince vaughn to be there? We aren't gatekeepers. He can come any time he wants to. Who said that they didn't want Vince Vaughn at the Sox game? Sounded to me like everyone liked the idea of seeing him at the game.
  6. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Anybody think that what Buerhle and Evert said this week were pubilicity stunts. No, Everett was stating his opinion and Buehrle was being honest, Rogers set him up and MB answered honestly, that he had heard some things about a pitcher on the Cubs doctoring the baseball.
  7. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) No, Walker just dosent deserve to be the 2b at all. We didnt even need to rig this one. Yeah like Konerko deserved to beat out D. Lee right?
  8. Who's the second baseman on your All-City team? 98.9% Tadahito Iguchi, White Sox (4600 responses) 1.1% Todd Walker, Cubs (53 responses) 4653 total responses Is it just me or are the cubs fans just giving up on this one.
  9. I'm not entirely sure Macias is even going to be on this poll. Hairston and Harris weren't on the poll at 2nd, so I'm thinking it's just going to be Crede and Ramirez on the poll. And in that case Crede must destroy.
  10. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) anyway only 8 teams out of 30 makes the playoffs, or 26%. in the NFL it's 12 out of 30, 40%. NBA it's 16 of 30, 53%, same as NHL. so baseball's regular season is the most meaningful of the 4, so no changes are necessary. There's 32 teams in the NFL.
  11. Sounds like I missed a helluva tailgate last night, damn traffic. Glad to hear everything went well.
  12. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) just the 4 divison winners would make the playoffs just like in the past.. It would make the season worth something The owners and league would never go for it, if you cut the playoff teams in half you lose a s*** load of revenue.
  13. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) I would love to see the Sox play the Cubs 20 times a year It would lose it's luster after the first 10 games. Bad idea.
  14. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) If I was in charge of Mlb I would make 4 divisons and have the DH play in every park and their will be no wild cards making the playoffs.. Division1 would be the Sox,Cubs,STL,Milw,Clev,Cinn,Det Division2 would be Balt,Bost,Yanks,Mets,Phillies,Wash, Pitt Division3 would be Angels,Seattle,Oak,SD,LA, SF,Colo,AZ Divison4 would be Toronto,TX,Hous,Minn,Atl,Fla,TB What changes would you make.. And how would you determine who makes the playoffs? Would it be an NBA type system where the top maybe 2 two teams from each division make the playoffs. Are these divisions still divided in to 2 conferences/leagues or is it just four divisions where you only have 4 playoff teams.
  15. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Here's a question to ponder, how many starting pitchers did the Red Sox have on their pitching staff when they won the World Series? I'd have to say it was more than 5, and the rest worked out of the pen. Wasn't Derek Lowe not even in the rotation until the playoffs? We need to get another Spot Starter/Long reliever, then I'd feel much better. CWSOX45 Other than maybe BK Kim, the Red Sox had 5 pitchers on their roster last year. And Lowe was a starter all season long (33 GS).
  16. Mark Buerhle is by far the most underrated pitcher in baseball this side of Jake Peavy.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) He's been pretty effective pitching with his current condition. How long does his contract run? If he's a free agent at the end of the year, I don't think KW would hesitate if he could make a deal that made sense. He's signed through next year. '05 - $4.5 '06 - $4.5
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) do we face dempster next weekend? if we do i hope we tee off that rat bastard. Dempster's a closer now. So we could.
  19. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) If celeb's want to come to a Sox game and buy the most expensive seat in the house then so be it. They are just going to give JR more so we can go get players in the off-season. So if we get a couple extra celebs every once in a while that's going to help JR get more players? Um no. A Scout Seat ticket isn't that expensive, if it was like $3,000 a ticket I could see it making a difference but it's not. Celebs aren't going to buy much in consessions and aren't going to buy beer. A couple extra hundred dollars a week from some s***ty Celebrity is not going to help JR sign free Agents/trade for players and make this team better.
  20. I f***ing hate Jesse Rogers for starting all this s***. Rogers set him up with that damn question, asking him what Sox players are doctoring the ball, asking for names. WTF kind of question of that? Buehrle should never go back on any Jesse Rogers show again, Buehrle was clearly half joking when he said it too, now he's got some s***ty f***ing Canadian nobody pitcher taking shots at him. Buehrle's accomplished more in his 5 full years in the big leagues tham Dempster has in his 8. Dempster should shut his f***ing mouth and go back to sucking ass in the Bronx.
  21. Am I the only one that doesn't want to go down that Cubby road of pandering to s***ty celebrities who are only at the game because it's the cool thing to do? It was cool to see him at the game yesterday but I really don't want this to become a thing, where we watch for the next celebrity to show up in the Scout Seats. It's got a dirty little Cubs vibe to it. John Cusack!
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) Ya, thanks a lot Jas :headshake It was honestly nuts out there today though, it was the worse traffic I've ever had getting to a game. It took me over 2 1/2 hours to get from Streamwood to the Cell. It usually takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, 1 and 45 minutes if I drive the speed limit.
  23. I'm pretty sure I've played this before. Level 5 on my first try.
  24. I don't know why you wouldn't like it immediatly Deploderer. It looks f***ing awesome to me.
