  1. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I read more than I post around these parts, and I still consider myself a newbie. My general advice to any newbie on any message board would always be to tread lightly until you get the feel of the place. It's common sense, don't you think? As for those who argue that it is their right to post whatever they wish to -- please. Spare me. You have the same free speech rights here as you have in someone's home, that is to say, none. If you come into my home and insult me or any of my friends, I have an absolute right to ask you to leave. If you post something here that the admins or mods agree pushes the boundaries, they have every right to delete it. If you persist in that behavior, they have every right to ban you. And they should. My .02. ^^^ Every once in a while there will be a new poster who within his first 10 posts will attack another poster or say something ridiculous and then when someone calls them on it they claim that it's their freedom of speech or that they can say what ever they want when that is not the case. When posting here you have to realize that you are dealing witha people, it may only be an internet message board and it's just typed words but people get comfortable here and leave themselves open and when they're insulted or attacked or read something that they feel is over the top or offensive it can really bother them. Before you type something you should think about how your post is going to effect other people.
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Tell that to chi-guy2. I didn't even see that post. Wow that was interesting.
  3. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Was meant to be in green? He's hitting .229 and he can't even lay down a bunt, that's why. He has an occasional homerun once every couple weeks and does nothing else on offense. He only provides good defense for our team. I don't use green on obvious sarcasm.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) so we can throw in some worthless players for a starting player?? come on. I dont see Feliz as an upgrade to Crede anyway, this team is built on pitching and defense people, stop trying to add instand offense, the trade has to also make sense for both team, why would the Giants want to get rid of some of their more productive players for less productive players, how does that benefit them? You do know that Edgardo Alfonso is one of the best fielding infielders in baseball right?
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Hey, im with you, I think its better to keep Rogo down this year and give him time at AAA, but someone has to drive the other side of the argument. You've done an admirable job stating the other side of the arguement seeing how the guy who started the thread gave up after 1 post.
  6. But Crede hit a Home Run yesterday why would you want to trade him.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) what part of his stats make you think he isnt ready for a back up role yet?? Because those stats are from AA and it's only the second good season he's had.
  8. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) I'm just sick of people slinging s*** at me for no f***ing reason and mods moving my threads because people start s*** with me. This board does not welcome newbies at all. Actually it does. Newbies have always been welcomed with open arms. I guess you're the exception.
  9. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) why would you not go get wagner, hes gonna get you lots of saves He's talking about Ryan Wagner. Who isn't even the clear cut closer in Cincy.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) He is also a playoff pitcher. Honestly when it comes to a big game situation, we have no more proven pitcher than Hernandez... He is money when it counts. One of the best postseason pitchers currently in baseball. 10-3 with a 2.65 ERA in 14 career postseason starts. Including a 1.98 ERA in the Divisional series and a 2.28 in the World Series.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) Not everyone needs to make a stop in AAA before they make the big club. The kid is arguably the best hitter on our AA team, there have been plenty of kids called up from AA that have done just fine. His sparse at-bats in ST are still better than Timo's production right now in more at-bats. He also has a record of getting on base easier and steals more bases, his attitude has been praised as well as his work ethic. Attitude isn't everything. I just don't think he's ready. 372 career minor league games is not enough to me. He has to show that he can consistantly produce at the minor league level before I even think about calling him up.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) I'll bite kal He is 24 years old so he isnt exactly an immature person, as was developed as a champion wrestler so his heart and work ethic are no questions in my mind. HIs OBP seems to be one of his largest attributes and drew 91 walks last year. He has been producing nice numbers this year .322 .395 .493, with 33 Rbi's. The only concern I have is his K's, but it seems like this kid can produce on higher levels as he played OK in ST and is hitting well in Bham. He is also on the 40 man which would make the move somewhat easy. The only real negative is taking away at-bats from someone who seem to be improving at a steady pace. I think that he could move up to AAA and they could kick Norton up again. The biggest thing Rogo has going for him is that he's on the 40. Rogo hit .211 in spring training with a .250 OBP albeit in 19 ABs but still very unimpressive. The only realistic backup first baseman that's not currently with the team is Ross Gload but it appear that he has injured himself again. With Norton there is really no spot on the 40 for him. I'm just not convinced on Rogo. He has to play in AAA before he becomes a possiblily at the Major league level.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) observe my edit. Nice.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) LOL, a 8 million dollar backup. Lets just try it out! What a great plan. Maybe Garcia should go to the bullpen so the Sox can try Gio as the third starter. Its worth a shot! He didn't say that Rogo would start over Konerko he said Rogo would serve as Konerko's backup. He just forgot the s at the end of Konerko.
  15. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) never thought about the DL part, i would have left him in, build his confidence, he was pitching pretty good in a hitters park El Duque has enough confidence. In that situation you have to be worried about his health and keep him around 100 pitches. You don't want to risk reinjuring his shoulder.
  16. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I dont know if he will excel in the majors but its worth a shot. He is batting over 300 and has good power plus right now we dont have a backup for PK Casey Rogowski hadn't hit at all his first 2 years in the minors(not counting Rookie ball 30 ABs.) Then last year he started showing some power and a high average so the Sox promoted him to Birmingham this year. This year he has been just awesome. The more likely move in this situation if Ross Gload really is hurt again would be to promote Rogo to Charlotte and call up Greg Norton strickly to be used as a backup to Konerko. Rogo only has 211 ABs at AA I would give him a little time in Charlotte (which is a f***ing bandbox especially when compared to Birmingham) instead of calling him up straight from Charlotte. Then again Rogo is on the 40. Which would make my scenerio kind of impossible to pull off.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) The White Sox media guide lists his career stolen bases as 806, so maybe we should call them and ask them why the typo. I think they dont count his 2 in 1979 because I believe they were pinch run. And who cares about his head start? he actually really only played his first decent length season when he was 21-22. I wasnt knocking SPODS, Tim Raines was a GOD!! look at the seasons from 81 through 87: 71, 78, 90, 75, 70, 70, 50. Damn!!! No to mention his BA and OBP. I'm just saying if Pods played his first full length season when he was 21 and not when he was 27 he may have been able to put up comparable career SB numbers.
  18. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I hope the Sox bring this guy up to the majors to be Konerko backup until we make a trade for a backup 1B What exactly makes you think he can produce on the Major League level right now?
  19. Jon Garland 9-2 3.40 VS Woody Williams 2-3 4.46 I do believe we have the upperhand.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) Nah, Comiskey was an asshole. And your point is?
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) 806 career stolen bases folks, Spods will never touch that figure. Raines broke into the league at the age of 19 and went on to play 23 seasons in the big leagues. Pods broke into the league at the age of 25 and has been up ever since. So Tim Raines had a 6 year headstart on Pods. Now one thing that Pods could do is break Tim Raines' career high in stolen bases which was 90. If he could accomplish that then he'd have something on Raines. Oh yeah and Tim Raines had 808 career stolen bases.
  22. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Flip-Flopping. You're going to here a lot of people back tracking on there hatred for Dye. Alot of those people that were calling him dead a few weeks ago are gonna start changing thier tune.
