  1. IGN has the first review of NBA 2k11: they gave it a 9.5 and called it "the best sports game of its generation". If this keeps up I'm gonna be forced to buy my first basketball game in a while.
  2. The NBA Elite demo was SO bad that they've delayed the game indefinitely with rumors that there will not be a 2011 version of the game. Awesome start for the new branding.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) I don't think so. Other than the errors he saves from poor throws, which are very valuable, he's well below average defensively. I can't imagine there's another 1B in the game who's better at making the throw to second on the 3-6-3/3-6-1 double play, the vast majority of 1B have a LOT of trouble with that throw (Adam Dunn hit a baserunner just yesterday) but I can't remember Konerko f***ing up that throw much over the past 10+ years. I can live with a lack of range if he can make the throw to 2B and pick nearly everything out of the dirt, that's a 1B primary responsibility more so than ranging to his sides on grounders. When you weigh the defensive responsibilities of a 1B he's well above average.

    The Ladykillers was a remake.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Sad. I read that it seems FX isn't plugging Terriers as much as they should. They've done a god awful job of promoting the show, the few commercials I saw just featured dogs tearing s*** up with no other clues as to what the show was about. I just assumed it was about dogs which didn't really interest me, luckily I took the time to seek out the true premise of the show: something your average viewer is not going to do. Just look at the promotional poster for the show: That's just dreadful marketing, the show has jack s*** to do with dogs, why in god's name would they push that angle so hard?
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Saw that the ratings for Terriers keeps going down. Unfortunate. May not make it to the end of Season 1 and probably no renewal. And yet garbage like s*** My Dad Says draws 12.5 million viewers. Apparently a large portion of this country only gets 1 channel.
  7. QUOTE (The Bones @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) Parks & Rec was the funniest show on network tv last year. #2 was Modern Family. Community was hilarious tonight. Loved how they made fun of s*** My Dad Says. I did not really care for the Abed character early on in season 1, but he has really grown on me and was excellent tonight. Also, Gollum/Senor Chang was great. I really love the direction they're taking this show in. I think I should just stop watching The Office. I can only muster up a few minor laughs anymore. The Goodfellas episode sealed it for me with Abed; amazing. The Office is dead to me, I can't believe that show is still on tv. Not even chuckle inducing at this point.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) s*** My Dad Says wasn't horrible. Dreadful? Unwatchable? f***-terrible? You're being awful picky with the verbiage here.
  9. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) s*** My Dad Says is f***ing terrible. 27 on Metacritic, which isn't easy.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Lone Star was pretty great. Didn't feel like a network pilot, felt more like a cable pilot...Hopefully it lasts. It looks good and it's getting rave reviews but I think I'm going to sit this one out, if I enjoy the pilot it's just going to piss me off when FOX cancels it sometime in the next 5 to 6 days. Then you're left with thoughts of what could have been since a handful of households in this country determine what gets to air and those morons can't get enough amateur singing competitions, athlete dance-offs and mind numbing procedurals. It's just sad.
  11. Raising Hope was pretty good, hard to ask too much from a pilot but it showed potential. Running Wilde on the other hand has an uphill battle with it's goofy comedy and annoying little girl narrator, I also don't see Keri Russell bringing a damn thing to the table.
  12. I'm as big an AD fan as anyone but just looking at trailers and such "Running Wilde" feels like a disappointment in the making. "Raising Hope" on the other hand looks like it could be solid, I'm getting the same feel from it as I did from Modern Family last year. I'll definitely give both a chance.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Rios seems to be coming out of his tailspin a bit, though. .824 OPS in 9 September games. If you cherry pick (which I do not condone) his numbers are awesome over his last 15 games (1.000+ OPS). Regardless of how much he's being paid we have an elite defensive CF with an .815 OPS and 4.0+ WAR, that's pretty exciting. You have to go back to 2004 to find that last time we've seen that and that guy didn't reach 600 PA.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Do these links work for anybody else? I f***ed them up, they work in the new post.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) This post is perhaps the most inaccurate in Soxtalk history. You may want to check the numbers. The guy was a good hitter with the Sox and has I believe the top 3 home run season for a LH hitter in team history. It's the #1 reason why I find myself still cheering for him even while he's sleeping with the enemy. It's utterly ridiculous. So here's what I did: I just started with the first game of the 2009 season (it's the most recent so it should be pretty fresh in everyone's memory) looking at Thome's HR logs and went through the first 2 or so months of the season looking for Thome HR that finished #1 in that particular game in WPA (ie: the most important hits of the game). Well it was 9 HR in until I got to June 1st and this is what I found: Bottom 8, Down 1, Runners on: 2 Bottom 6, Tied, Runners on: 1 Top 5, Down 1, Runners on: 1 Top 8, Down 2, Runners on: 1 Bottom 8, Tied, Runners on: 2 I don't get how a hitter goes about failing in every crucial situation but still finishes #1 or #2 on the club in WPA each year he was here: #1 in '07 and '09 and #2 in '06 and '08.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) He installed one in Fenway? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Bossard Doesn't say anything about Fenway here. Heh, Wikipedia. http://www.greenville.com/news/drive1205.html http://articles.chicagotribune.com/keyword...ossard/recent/3
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) It all depends upon the amount of rain that falls and Fenway's drainage ability. Since it's an older park like Wrigley, it may not empty as well as the newer parks. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) They also don't have the Sod Father as their groundskeeper Except Bossard installed the drainage system a few years back, something tells me the field takes on water rather well.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) Going to go support my boys Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis this weekend (I think Sunday night) in "Going the Distance". I personally think it looks funny, so f*** you all who are going to rip my s***! Justin Long AND Drew Barrymore? How can you go wrong?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Has he hit 104 on a big league calibrated gun? And can he do so repeatedly? 103.9 last night according to pitch f/x, sitting at 102.1 That's legit.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Chapman threw 104 on an MLB gun???????? Looking at Brooksbaseball, pitch f/x had him sitting at 102.11 and topping out at 103.9
  21. If Harold freaking Baines gets his number retired and a statue then Konerko should be a lock.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) He seemed good at calling a game and on defense. We have plenty of room for a guy like that for the last month, I'd think. He started 5 games, our starting pitchers in those games had a total of 1 quality start. By all accounts Lucy does call a good game but it didn't exactly manifest itself during his brief stint earlier this season. The odds of either of these guys getting a start are slim, you carry the better player (which Flowers is) and the real prospect who you might want to get a look at in blowouts and batting practice (once again: Flowers).
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) You would think Lucy earned a call-up with his performance earlier in the year for the Sox. And hasn't Flowers been terrible? He had 5 hits. He happened to have a little hot streak while he was up here, he didn't earn anything, he's still bad. Even for as much as Flowers struggled in AAA this year he still out OPS'd Lucy by about 150 points.
  24. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Is Infante on the 40 man or does someone else need to be designated? He is not but Threets is currently on the 15 day DL and can be moved to the 60 to make room just as Peavy was moved to the 60 to make room for Manny. (as we are at 40 right now)
