*Official* Steroid Thread
Kalapse replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Yep, roids will do that if you don't know what you're doing with them. Canseco is right though, under the supervision of a Dr. you can use roids, get all the benefits and not have the side effects. It's guys mixing and overloading in a locker room at a gym that end up all screwed up. Just think about Brady Anderson, how he completely f***ed up his body by misusing steroids, I remember his liver shut down and he could have died. Also if what Canseco said was correct Giambi over dosed on steroids and got pretty damn sick. Some guys just don't know what the hell they're doing when they take them, they think that they can just shoot up as much as possible and there won't be any reprocutions. It's real dangerous s*** if yoiu don't know what you're doing. -
Greatest rant EVER!: Lee Elia Rant
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Lee Elia holds the honor of having the greatest rant ever. I stand corrected. I completely forgot about his rant against Cubs fans.

God, that takes me back, greatest rant ever! Most truthful s*** ever said by anyone involved in sports.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) do you mean consensu #1 overall or first round pick? I think he's picked top 12 at the latest pretty much no matter what. Earliest? 4 I guess Earliest is #3 if a team wants to steal Williams away from the Bears they'll make a deal with the Browns for the #3 pick.
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) I don't think the Bears will be willign to rationalize taking a player at 4 overall who didn't play last year. That HAS to weigh in. If Williams were light-years above Edwards, then I'd ignore it. But, they are clsoe enough together that I think the Bears will take Edwards. Willaims isn't the prospect that many have made him out to be. He wouldn't have been top 10 last year and may not be this year either. I think he;s a really good player but he's not the uber prospect some on here have made him out to be. All of what you just said will be whiped out by the combine. This draft pick will be determined by how well Williams performs in the combine.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) I'm saying Troy is a sleeper because I think he could be one of the top 2 WR's taken in the draft. I know he's always been a 1st day talent, but I think he will put up great combine numbers and move into the top 10 players taken. I agree with you entirely I watched him play at South Carolina, he's a stud.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) Everyone keeps saying Williams size: Williams Edwards Williams is 6'5, Edwards 6'3 Williams 230, Edwards 215 Williams supposedly has lost about 20lbs to make him faster because scouts were talking about him having to transition to TE in the NFL. Williams does have better hands, thats why he is projected to be like Keyshawn. I really am high on Williams as well, I hope that he some how pushes his 40 time under Edwards, or else I just do not think the Bears will be able to rationalize taking Williams over Edwards. And Id rather have Fitz, Rogers, Johnson, and Roy over Mike. SB Mike Williams said he has dropped 6 pounds over the past year and is now down to 229 in a recent ESPN.com interview.

Frank Thomas mention in Canseco book.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Oh I agree. I'm not really worried about ever hearing his name in these kind of conversations. I have cards of him when he was playing little league, and he was a beast then. However, it'd just crush me. He's always been my favorite baseball player/athlete. Frank was the reason I became a Sox fan, and there was a time, where I liked Frank more than the team. Ditto, Frank was a rookie for the Sox when I started really watching baseball he is by far my favorite athlete of all-time. When he is inducted into the Hall of Fame I will be in the crowd at Cooperstown cheering him on. -

When Frank was a tight end at Auburn he was pretty damn big. I think if he was on steroids there is a pretty good chance they would have suspended him or kicked him off the team, the Tigers don't stand for s*** like that. -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I can see why Mike Williams is the top rated WR also. He has the size to absolutely dominate games like Plaxico Burress does. Plaxico doesn't even use his jumping ability like Mike does, and Plax's hands aren't of the same caliber of Williams. If Mike is lucky enough to be drafted onto a team with a QB with some balls that will just throw the ball up to him and let him do his thing, he will dominate as a rookie. 40 times are overrated. 4.55-4.6 is definitely good enough, especially at his size. I just don't see any reason Braylon should be taken or will be taken ahead of Mike. The year out of football will be a question, but those questions will all be answered at the combines good or bad. I can't wait to see what kind of combine Mike and my sleeper Troy Williamson have. I don't think Troy Williamson is a sleeper to anyone who follows college football or the NFL draft closely. Most people in the Mainstream media have probably never even heard of him but they don't know s*** anyway.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) If that's the only mention of Frank Thomas in the book, good deal. I would be absolutely crushed to hear Frank's name involved with steroids. I think there might be a revolt against Canseco from Sox fans if he mentioned Frank. He might need a little extra security. -
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Push it.... Pull it.... Tow it to Golf Mill Ford! With the fat guy, hell ya.

Boubt time. I'm sick of hearing about it.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) I would hope they go wr, but I have heard/read where Angelo might pick another defensive player. Not that anyone would agree with that or anything IMHO the only way he picks another defensive player is if he trades down and ends up with 2 first round picks. Then he might take a defensive player with one of the picks.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Who changed the name to the Sports Bar? QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Jas and I did it. We wanted to propogate our dominance.... From earlier today.

This is just sad.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Like you said, considering who we played, not bad at all. We also have a strong chance of going into the all-star break at .500, if not better. We are now 1 game over .500 and have 2 games left before the break, we'll either be over or under .500 not at.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) I've given up on Chandler becoming anywhere near the KG type of player I thought he could become. But I do think he can become a Ben Wallace type of player if he can toughen up and put on some pounds. He's proven that he can be a good rebounder and a dominating shot blocker. If he does nothing but rebound and block shots, thats good enough for me. The key to Chandler becoming a true dominating defensive force would be him putting on some muscle. He's skinny as hell right now hes' gotta bulk up.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) I think this Mike Williams to the BEars thing is highly unlikely and really just fan site talk. I think I'd say that Braylon is three timse more likely than Mike to be taken. That said, it should surprise no one in CHicago if they trade down or draft more defense. The Bears will not draft a defensive player with the 4th pick. Mike Williams will be drafted by the Bears if he kicks ass in the combine. Braylon Edwards right now is the Bears pick but only for now and only because of Mike Williams high 40 time. The Bears could very well trade down and pick up a few more picks, just because Angelo loves getting as many players as he can out of a draft. I think it is more likely that the Bears keep the #4 pick. As of right now the Bears will draft a WR with the 4th pick in the draft.

Another great player is retiring. Emmitt Smith, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, Barry Larkin possibly Brett Favre (even though I doubt it.) It's been quite a year for all-time greats stepping away from the game.
