QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) You hope it turns out that KW is the "wizard" controlling rick hahn the "almighty wizard hologram"? No I am waiting to see how this turns out based on JR comments! The White Sox announced the promotions, naming Williams executive VP and naming Hahn senior VP and general manager. Williams will "maintain oversight and final approval on major baseball decisions,” White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) This one is for you... Kenny Williams @NotKenWilliams "PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE VP BEHIND THE CURTAIN." -Rick Hahn, when asked who really has the power in the Sox front office. I hope it turns out that way!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) After that Kenny made it clear that HE has always had to go to Jerry for any major move. Also realize that this is standard operating procedure for any other sports franchise out there. No GM has complete autonomy. If it involves adding payroll, they are running it by someone else. The whole idea that being a GM means you get to do whatever you want is reality only on your XBOX. It ranks up there with unicorns and Cubs World Series titles in terms of reality. Nobody said KW never had to run everything by JR that is fine. Hahn will have to go through KW to even get anything to JR. I do not like this setup at all and this is a disservice to Hahn IMO. I feel Hahn has one arm tied behind his back already.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Just like every other team, EVERY GM reports to a President/Owner when it comes to moves. KW will have input, but it's more going to be looking out for the future of the team (financials, etc). Report to JR is fine............KW once Schuler left got to put his stamp on the team with KW around this is not going to happen for Hahn.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) I don't see that as being very likely. Hahn would certainly have gotten a GM job somewhere else within the next year or two. I don't think giving him the title of GM without the power is going to keep him from pursuing those other jobs. It seems from what has been said publicly that KW is going to be taking over a lot of duties from JR, so he isn't going to have time to be puppetmaster on top of that. The biggest issue during the news confernce was whether Hahn, who served under Williams for 12 seasons, would have final say on all baseball matters, including trades. "It's Rick's decision until it's not," Williams said. "When it's not, we'll have to hammer it out." Not a big fan of this quote basically says KW will have MAJOR say on every move.
-
If he is KW puppet then this move is meaningless.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 22, 2012 -> 11:39 AM) Yeah, definitely. As long as one of the Three-Headed Monster is not revealed to be the leader (that being Jarrett/Bischoff/Hogan), I'll consider it less of a failure. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Abyss and/or Bully Ray join them soon. Bully Ray will turn for sure! -
What will his hanger on kids have to complain and b**** about next summer!

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) I disagree. He's better than he was here, but he's still bad. Funny enough, I actually tried listening to a couple innings of the All-Star game on the radio this year (I just missed baseball, that's all) and ESPN, typically given their commitment to quality sports coverage, had John Rooney as the lowly roving interviewer speaking to players in the clubhouses while Singleton called the game. And I say that's funny because going from Rooney to Singleton on the radio was about as large a downgrade as you'll ever see made anywhere. Ever. Singleton is horrid...................he could not carry Rooney's lunch.

Thread much to do about nothing...............Stoney here next year maybe beyond.
