  1. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) going straight by the numbers, Rodon looks like he pitched like crap. how did he actually look?
  2. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) You can bet that Coop gave Flowers instructions on what he wants the kid to throw. Rodon is way too important to let Flowers call his game before he really understands his arsenal. His arsenal is a fastball and a slider. His changeup is a work in progress. So lots of fastballs and when he gets ahead sliders. If he cant throw either for a strike, then the playbook is out the door. Its not like they didnt catch the kid a bunch of times in spring training. He was jacked up and his command was s***. It happens.
  3. QUOTE (DashFan @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:15 PM) Robin Ventura had two jobs today: 1. Give away a game to a division opponent. 2. Destroy any confidence Carlos Rodon may have came into the majors with. Done & done. He was a friday night pitcher in college, and is the #3 pick overall. I dont believe confidence will be his problem.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:12 PM) What's annoying is Rodon wasn't ready yet for the majors He is not keeping closed. This causes the ball to be left up and in on the lefties. Most likely due to a lot of adrenaline. He just needs to relax and pitch. He will be fine.
  5. He keeps flying open. He needs to close off or throwing strikes will be difficult. When he over compensates he throws it into the ground.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Yeah, if we can get 5-6 "Can't miss" big leaguers, maybe I would accept it, too. I heard Hawk tell somebody on the air recently that this current team will win a WS w/in the next 2-3 years, though. I believe you, truly do. I don't like to jinx the team, either. I dont trust our scouting to locate 5 or 6 cant miss guys.
  7. Avi still knows how to hit. He swung that wooden thing towards the thrown ball.
  8. Wonder if Ventura is getting the bunt signal ready.
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:30 PM) It's a good question, would you take our last decade including '05 or the Tigers' last decade? How about winning the world series in 05 and still making the playoffs more than a few times in a 100 years. The redsox did the same thing we did, and kept building on it.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:27 PM) Yep, the Sox were counting on increased attendance to fund the moves they made. If the Sox suck this year and attendance drops again, then they will almost definitely be cutting payroll. If they under perform and are out of it by June. Well the shark will be sold. After that who knows.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) From 1997-2008 we had a winning record against the AL Central every season. From 2009-2014 the only season we had a winning record against our division was 2012. I'm getting really sick of being unable to beat our division foes. This sucks. With the amount of games against your division you have to win divisional games to have a chance. Losing large amounts of games to your divisional foes makes it nearly impossible.
  12. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) are we going to be 7 GB after 12 games? really? Its early. We keep on playing like this against the division and early will become hey look X team once in a 100 years came back from 20 down to win the division.
  13. How about someone who has actual experience managing. It can be in the minors. Just promoting guys that you happen to own a poster of doesn't make them good managers. Expect better. Not just random childhood heroes.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) If Ventura goes who replaces him? Some ex white sox player that has limited experience.
  15. Crawford its time to watch the rest of the series from the pine. Nice howler.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Jesus Crawford Maybe someone should let him know that the playoffs started. Its time to actually show up.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) Soxtalk's ownership group expanded earlier as my wife gave birth to our new son. They are currently sleeping in the hospital being serenaded to hawk and stone while I stream the game from my phone. In twenty years sox might have a new starter to join their rotation! Congrats to you and your wife. Remember to enjoy this. They grow up quick. It only seems like yesterday we welcomed our first.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) 4 AB. As for Eaton, you can blame Robin all you want, but the fact remains, he should be able to get a bunt down. The fact remains that you shouldn't call for a 2 strike bunt with 0 outs in the 9th facing a hard throwing righty who has shown an inability to throw strikes.
  19. Maybe next year instead of Vince Coleman teaching them how to run into outs we can dedicate more time to learning how to catch the ball. Have our catchers work on their throws to 2nd. And I know they do it but obviously not enough.
  20. Well that was called by the bench and it's wrong on first guess.
