  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:46 PM) Rick is a very comforting man to listen to, at least. I think Hahn has enough patience to go through the process in the correct way. I think Rick sees the power of prospects not only to help plug in talent at the major league level but as chits for trades later. Kenny was always plaing for this year. His moves were bold at times however were short sited for sustainability. Great interview.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:32 PM) I thought we learned how to beat Minnesota. I guess that was just a one-year respite from the agony annually faced when we play the Twinks. Greg just imagine the shock when teams lose to the sox. It must be mind blowing for their fans.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:31 PM) 14 homers in last 42 innings for Axelrod. Channeling his inner Felix Diaz.
  4. Axelrod fits in with the long line of the Broadway's, Diazes, hitting tees that we have seen employed till they started drafting power pitches.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:49 PM) Jesse Crain? We have had a few good guys at the back of the pen. But we need to go back to Barry jones.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Remember Barry Jones? Was that his name? Is he the last truly reliable setup man we've had on our Sox?I can't remember our setup guy in 05. Amazing you can post here but google ( or more to the point your memory )doesn't allow you to find cliff politte.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) Lindstrom looking a lot like Axe. 2-2. Is the radio feed giving you these facts or is it the Internet. One barely breaks 90 the other sits in the mid 90s. Sure Mark Buehrle looks a lot like Chris Sale as well.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) I'm saying I like the trade and like Hahn. I wish you'd read my takes closely and not just get lost in my utter dislike for Rios. Now, Alexei is next to deal. I'd expect we get 2 prospects, hopefully at least one is a real good one. Lexi is not getting any younger. Already the pop is gone in his home run stroke apparently. I just think he's Jose Guillen II. Has a lot of talent and very very very little desire. I don't like players like that. Greg we dont care about the Royals, Royals players, KC, anything royals related on this site. The only time we care is when we face them or in the all about competition that is the AL Central. Every conversation brings in some random Royals comparison, some internal poll of the good people of whatever city you live in or where you work. No one cares.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 04:53 PM) Looks like Dempsey is headed back to MLS, to Seattle specifically. From USMNT perspective, I don't like this. I think there needs to be a mix and not every player from national team should be in the best leagues, better to play important role in lesser league than rot on the bench, however, Dempsey is a world class player and should be playing against world class talent on a regular basis, he won't get that in MLS. Nothing like playing half your games on artificial turf as well. So the other aspect is the season that the mls employs. He plays what until Nov here at the latest and then restarts what in March. With the summer break he is going to have a lot of time off from match play. They could lend him out but still a year out from the World Cup this is not a good move.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 07:24 AM) It's his 22-25% strikeout rates and 3-5% walk rates every year. and the fact that his O-Swing im the majors is 41%, FORTY ONE PERCENT: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...amp;position=OF That kind of stuff often works out in the minors against bad pitchers that can't locate consistently, but you can count on one hand the amount of above average Major Leaguers that have that level of hackitude. Once the league figures out where the holes in the swing are, they start feeding you nothing but what you can't hit, and if you refuse to stop swinging at it, you tend to suck. Obviously he might learn to be better, but it doesn't happen often, and I've NEVER seen it happen in the White Sox system. I'll be very excited if he's the first, but I'm disappointed that Hahn -- especially if he was going to settle for just one notable prospect -- couldn't leverage Peavy into a guy that's more polished than this for his age. The only way Hahn gets better prospects was to include money to offset more of Peavy's contract. We sent nothing across. I find it amazing that we received a top 100 prospect in the first place with the money involved. Lets see what's happens later this afternoon to see the entire fallout of this trade. Maybe we send some money across in one of the other trades to increase that return.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Edes tweets more prospects to the White Sox. Much better.
  12. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Ugh. Really? No money into the mix limits the return. 20 million dollars equals less prospects.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) LOL at the Sox blowing another game. I love Robin but our manager shoulda been the guy who is in the Indians' dugout. You get a chance to hire a Francona like we had, you can't let it pass by. Worse team in baseball except for maybe one team ... the Chicago White Sox. You realize that the Indians are good right. Or is the Internet broke again in Kansas.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Dear Lord I hate that f***ing drum. Just imagine the type of weirdo you have to be to bring a f***ing drum and pretend you are a moustashed pale Indian. It's like being Ronny Woo with out all of the street cred.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:13 PM) What do the Rangers want with Paulie? Do they have a time machine? Fountain of Youth? Can we use the Fountain of Youth on Jordan, Frank, Crede, Dye, Urlacher, Mike Brown, etc.? They plan to pick him up to repackage him and a former Indian to be named later for Peavy tomorrow. #kennydoingkennythings
  16. His curve is buckling knees. Love what I see so far.
  17. His motion looks extremely familiar.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Of course, with a pitching staff this good, you are substantially closer than any other team that has this kind of record But then you see the abortion that is our offense and defense and realize that moves need to happen.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 07:01 PM) "we're not that far away!" From the guy who yells stretch when the ball hovers over the 2nd base mans head.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:40 PM) How's Rienzo's stuff look? He hides the ball well with his delivery. Curve has bite needs to throw it for a strike to keep the hitters honest. Fastball is average. Good poise so far.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 06:28 PM) What exactly is happening? EDIT: Gordon looked clearly out. The umpires want to show the Indians that they respect them like the RedSox.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) Yeah, I hope the roster is much better next year. It'd be nice to have some position players as good as the pitchers. How do we get these better position players Greg? Magic.
