  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) The benefit is that the three hours a day I spend watching are better spent For me if you are going to suck. I would rather get a possible franchise facing pick for the troubles.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:38 PM) Nashville's a nice place. Check out Yazoo Brewing if you're ever visiting I am the one who put that in a beer thread for you a while back. Yazoo at the Flying Saucer.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) I know we suck, but I still love watching the White Sox. It won't be bother me any if we win out this year There is no in between here. There is no benefit to winning this year besides sabotaging a draft pick.
  4. Love the AM radio quality I am getting on my CSN feed here.
  5. Just outside of Nashville for me. I have spent quite a bit of time there and love it. My work would need to happen out of the West End.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 10:27 PM) I'm surprised again this season at how badly we play against the horrible teams in our own division. As bad as the Sox are, you'd think they'd run into a lot of victories vs. the Clevelands, KCs, Minnie's of the world. Cleveland is a horrible team? Do you own a TV. Did you poll your neighbors or co-workers for this bit of info.
  7. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) You guys are absolutely ridiculous sometimes Do you really think that with the pitching staff we have that the sox are going to rebuild. It goes against everything this team has done for years.
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:41 PM) This is why Rios will be in a White Sox uniform the rest of this season That and the sox don't believe in rebuilding. No one is moving next week.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) This has been discussed at length already. There is a belief in MLB that elite starters should be stretched to around 120 pitches. This is what we are doing with Chris. So what you are saying is that Dusty Baker was ahead of the curve in this line of thinking.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:45 PM) Robin let Peavy throw 118 pitches? The f*** dude? Yeah Dusty Baker everyone.
  11. QUOTE (Gldfinger5 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) According to twitter, Red Sox fans seem to hate the idea of giving up middlebrooks for peavy. Still seem to have hope for the guy. RedSox fans on twitter Re trying to figure out why we want anything at all and should be wicked happy to allow Peavy to join the red cubs.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) I'd absolutely love Crain for Middlebrooks I would hate it for Peavy.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) I'd have zero problem putting middlebrooks out there sharing time with Gillaspie and seeing who earns the spot, but man, I don't think I'd take him back for anything of value. I'd take him back for something like Danks, but I'd rater even get a solid a-ballet for Crain. You can always find guys like middlebrooks who are remote chances/recovery chances. He'll in a yet we might dump Viciedo for a guy like that. Picking up middlebrooks fits the former gm's MO.
  14. My biggest fear is that we balk on sending money over and go for C level prospects and money savings. They key here is to maximize this for top tier talent.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) Huh? I applaud robin Ventura for walking Cabrera. I applaud Ventura for handling sale this way. I applaud Chris sale for being a competitor. The peanut vendor was about to get applauded by hawk.
  16. This segment of the circle jerk society needs to stop. "I applaud x whitesox player/official/mascot for x"
  17. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:37 PM) What are the chances of the Sox stand pat and not make a major move? I would hate to see Rios, Peavy and Ramirez's contract not being moved. The front office has been reluctant for a rebuild. They might want to roll the dice again and see if they can surprise. We didn't rebuild in 2007. As much as we should tear it down this FO might not have the stomach for it. Worse case scenario we trade Rios only for C prospects and salary relief. Crain might be a waiver deal if he can't pitch before the deadline.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) First of all, Sox fans are being ripped on Twitter for being mad at Ventura, so I'm not the only one who feels the way I do. Secondly, you and I disagree on Rios certainly being traded. I, for one, don't think anybody is going to a.) give up any real talent for Rios and b.) isn't going to take Rios without wanting significant dollars from the White Sox. I personally don't see the Sox giving a team a lot of money in the deal when the return will be very very fringe prospects. Now, the fact the Giants once acquired Jose Guillen from the Royals makes me aware some team MIGHT be willing to take the sometimes lazy Rios off the Sox hands. Guillen also loafed at times and the Royals were finally able to dump him. But I do believe that was in the LAST YEAR of Guillen's deal with KC. In other words, I think it's 40-60 that Rios actually even gets traded. I do believe he may remain a White Sox til that contract mercifully expires. I don't really understand how Robin gets ripped in this Rios scenario. Rios is the guy who dogged it, do we agree on that? Robin did the only thing he could do to maintain respect in the game of baseball. Rios dogs it in the opening game of the second half of the season with the score tied for godsakes. If it was 8-2 Atlanta at the time, MAYBE you overlook Rios' stealing of a paycheck, but not in a 2-2 game. Robin's reputation was ON THE LINE, folks. Robin did the right thing and he has a new fan in me. I want Robin to manage the team as long as he wants to, now. Did Rios piss on your Ozzie Guillen number 1 fan poster.
  19. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) If we trade Rios, we have no chance to win the division. Brain damage, drugs, or troll. Still trying to figure out which one fits here.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) I can buy that. I'm just glad Robin finally had enough of Rios' crap and pulled him. That's how some people have to be motivated and obviously it worked. Grand slam. It's amazing how your logic process works. If you believe this then Ventura should be fired immediately for not benching multiple players in April and May.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:10 PM) Watch the interview of Robin's postgame with the media. He said "he knows," several times referring to Rios. It was indeed a no brainer. I would think a team would have to be crazy to take Alex Rios off the White Sox hands after this. He showed how much he cares about winning tonight. Proof is in what he did.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) Kudos to Robin for pulling Rios. Ventura told the media, "We expect more than that. It was simple." Yes like one of the mods said in the game thread, it was a no brainer. Too blatant to overlook. I mean, in a tie game?? Rios conceding a double play with a runner on third? If I was Jerry, I'd take the heat off Robin and DEMAND he be benched on Saturday as well. Give him a day off. Robin can't sit him another day for the gaffe, but Jerry could demand it. Robin Ventura gained a fan tonight in me, not that anybody cares.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:52 PM) You know what would be funny? People are calling Ventura "dumb." What if Rios is actually so clueless he figured he was being traded so he hugged everybody? What if Robin just told somebody to go in for him and didn't yell at him for loafing? Could Rios be that dumb he thought he got dealt, hence the hugs?? Sort of like, "Oh. He took me out. I must have gotten traded. A lot of teams need gamers like me, Alex Rios." Yeah that's what happened. Rios is probably heading to the airport. Jokes on him, there's no ticket.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2013 -> 10:18 PM) The way things are going, he'll leave Peavy in after dominating for 100 pitches and he'll hurt himself Ventura will probably leave him in for 120 pitches and one inning too long.
