Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) But he's not grimacing or limping or nothing. What makes you say he looks hurt? Just because he's playing bad? Well what's the alternative. He is Jermaine Dye? -

QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) oh no THORNTON Nothing like giving a fastball hitting team a pitcher who only features a fastball. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) No it isn't. How many full years have other team's top 2 starters gone through? Our guys are young and aren't used to a full season yet. How about the hitters. What's thir excuse. -

3 f***ing hits and only one run is why we are losing. Not because our pitcher gave up three. Our pitching staff has no wiggle room. Throw a shutout or you probably will lose. -

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) Whats the point in getting these pitchers runs when they just give em right back majority of the time? Well if we were talking about runs as in plural I might agree. We score a run here and maybe there. It's not 1954 and we are allowed to score runs. -

It's a total sox thing to have a pitcher throw fastball after fastball basically becoming a one pitch pitcher and have this result. Even the corpse ball teams could hit this guy. Time to stop thinking and to start hitting. -

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:13 PM) Dunn swinging right through 93 mph meatballs over the plate Yet we keep batting him 3rd. We can't move Rios there however we can move Wise, and even Lopez and olmedo in the two hole. Yet the rest of the lineup is concrete. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) Here's the $64,000 question: is the offense choking, tired because Robin has used the regulars too much this year, or some combination of both? And, if think it's both, is it MORE the choking part or the tired part? It's because someone applied a bit of pressure to the team. Their back ends pucker and everything becomes swing to be a hero. -

Running into outs. Is Ventura reading the Ozzie Guillen approach to losing the division. Let Beckham concentrate on the AB and not forcing the situation. -

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) Not unlike the design of the HTC One X and the Samsung GS2/3, which are also amazing designs...I simply don't understand it when I hear Apple fans say similar things when reviewing them. To hold a Samsung GS3 and play with it, and then claim it's nothing special baffles me, and I've seen this happen. This seems to be a glaring problem with judging modern electronic design these days, especially that of phones...there is almost no objectionability anymore, this fanboyism that's crept into the conversation has seemingly destroyed objective opinion. I'm a known Apple user around here, but you HAVE to admit the GS2/3 and HTC One X are awesome phone designs. The iPhone 5 design is simply stunning. I have an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro. I absolutely love my S3. It is a fantastic phone. Just an amazing piece of engineering. My only complaint is more on the android side. Its on the lack of security in the play store. You download an app and parasite garbage may drop down. You download an app and poof there is another app that came down as well. I had an app recently alter my browser settings to show advertisements. More QA needs to be done to check apps before they get admitted to google play. I got spoiled with how much control that Apple had with their store. Now it's back to reading more about the app and treating it like its an untrusted source.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) Re: Beckham discussion I find it interesting that when our guys slow down during the pennant run, they're all p*****s, chokers, etc. When a guy like Beckham picks up his play, it means nothing. Interesting standard to me. I keep on looking at his stats and his age and see Gordon from KC as a comparison. This kid plays plus defense and doesn't cost a lot. He isn't the reason our offense isn't consistent but he is the popular scapegoat.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) Time to address the Beckham situation in the offseason. The fact we're falling all over ourselves over this month he has just had...is perhaps the most telling thing. There are enough issues to resolve on offense. I understand that a lot of people have a hard on for the kid because of where he was drafted. He is not the key to this offense. The blame for our inability to score runs can be seen from the top through the middle of the order. Our inability to recognize splits in the last month in particular for viciedo.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Will this be big news if we blow the division after getting the lead up to 3 games or is it ho hum, the Tigers are great and finally playing to their potential? If we don't win the division it's because we choked it away. The tigers suck. We just kept them in it too long by struggling against garbage and having our O go bad this week.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Would anyone have a problem with PK being the DH and Dunn playing first? I really think he's better when he plays the field Not really. Don't have a problem with that. For me moving Beckham to the 2 hole and Youk who has fallen off a clif down a bit and moving Rios to third, Dunn to 4th and kong to 5th with Aj, the Youk splitting the Cubans.

At some point it would be nice to see the sox look to balance the equation a bit with our offense. It's the same issue as we have seen for years. When we click we hit home runs and score in bunches. When we go cold it's a series of pop ups and almost warning track shots. We need to be able to sustain the ability to score to help out the pitching. It can't be where the pitching has to be perfect to win. Look at what we've become. A pitcher has a qs and we lament what a bad outing he had. 4 runs and we start to look at tomorrow's matchups. That's sad. The offense needs to pick it up now.
