  1. He was a decent 1B in college. He has been playing LF pretty much since he came up because we think how many DH/1B types can we play at once. The answer, all of them.
  2. Maybe if he actually plays there more than once a month.
  3. Tony is not leaving after this season unless health becomes an issue. He will want a reset next year with a full spring training and healthy players. His ego won't let him quit after a bad season. He thinks that this is all due to injuries and things out of his control.
  4. The comatose manager hired a doggy doctor to be the analytics mind of the Diamondbacks. The current one for Chicago is a relation of his old pitching coach that boned up on the Udemy course because that's how you learn analytics. I am sure top minds are working on this with the whitesox, top....minds.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-nerdy-conversation-with-white-sox-analytics-coordinator-shelly-duncan/
  5. Has he played the OF during his rehab starts? This is a dumb team.
  6. Tony is not getting fired. And he won't retire after this year. He is not going to go out on a sour note. He and the rest of the sox will chalk this season up to a weird situation with the lockout. Next year they will get a full spring training with a healthy team. The Twins did it, they can do it. All they need to do is to get some more gritty players and it's to be won. That of course is not reality. But remember they looked at the offseason as just needing a little tweak. They are delusional.
  7. Now we are in the danger zone. Smart teams would evaluate our chances and base their moves on that analysis. We are not run like that. Jerry sees well how can we keep people coming to the park this year and this year only. We could flip Colson for a rental 2B/OF/Reliever lightning in a bottle. Just because if we get closer to 2nd it might stir ticket sales for this year.
  8. The same HOF manager walked a guy with 2 strikes because of the Analytics from his old pitching coaches son. Thank you Udemy for teaching Duncan intro to analytics and R.
  9. Well Country Kitchen is going to close soon. He needs to get there before the Tuesday special goes bad.
  10. Well Burger is finally in the game. And Josh Harrison is pitching. Fun times. This is exactly what I hoped for when we went through the rebuild.
  11. I liked the coach of the Tigers before we got all goofy. But that ship has sailed. They need an organizational colonic. For their analytic department. Go to MIT/Stanford and find real people who do the math. The type of people trading firms hire to build their algorithms. Not people related to buddies of the coaches old pitching coach. Spend money on that department like it's a bloodline of the company. Invest in technology across the spectrum. Then go and find the best fielding instructor on the market, throw money his way and have him derive a plan to teach players who go through our minors how to catch the ball. Spend money on the minors, spend money on the international draft. Hire people who work for the Rays, the Dodgers, etc. Spend money here. Build a white sox way so that players can be inserted into the majors and play. Know what to do, how to run, how the game works.
  12. Its a Chicago thing. HEY WAT ABOUT MIKE SINGLETERRY AS A HC. HE WOULD RUN DA 46 and bring it back to DITKA STYLE.
  13. There is zero chance this will happen. Daryl Boston will be at first, McEwing is either at 3rd or the Manager. Some ex-white sox player will be doing this. It could be Gordon Beckham based on the fact that he is on the TV show.
  14. Hiring AJ without experience is a stupid stupid stupid stupid move. See Ventura, Robin. Everyone conflates, OMG HE IS A CATCHER, CATCHERS MAKE GOOD MANAGERS. This would be a failure and we might as well rebuild again.
  15. https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/infield-coordinator-ryan-newman-talks-white-sox-prospects/ I have zero faith that this is being done correctly. Some teams hire fielding gurus to do this. We move coaches around to see if they stick.
  16. I bought into the rebuild based on the fact that they would hopefully do it right. Build a pipeline of talent in the minors, build off of a true development organization and then insert high-valued talent with FA. But I forget, this is the sox. We dumpster dive and overspend for mediocre talent and then go all-in on things like relievers. Meanwhile turning the farm system into one of the worst in baseball. Because in the end, the same people are doing talent evaluation.
  17. Well hopefully our draft is the best player we can develop and not "polished" guys with limited upside or relievers. This guy screams Lance Broadway https://soxmachine.com/general/2022-draft-profile-justin-campbell-rhp/
  18. The same reason Leury is a defacto starter. Grandpa Drinky likes him his throwback players.
  19. Nice pick, what a horrible play by Moncada. It's like a fucking beer league with their D.
  20. Well, they didn't go out and hire a Duncan for their analytics position because he was the son of Tony's BFF.
  21. This is not a smart organization. At no point do we see the strong fundamental play from our own players. Guys that come through our system are flawed. They lack basic baseball IQ and might as well not know why a mitt belongs on their other hand. There is no "whitesox" way being taught in the minors. And the system is so thin if you do anything that passes for acceptable you get promoted quickly. And miss out on some development they are not providing anyway.
  22. They need to start taking 2 of 3 from the divisional opponents. They have already gifted the division enough of a pad due to their poor play within the division. If they cant beat Minny or Cleveland then this is over.
