  1. This is not about saving money for a big acquisition. This is TLR checking boxes on the type of players he wants on the team. JR loves it because he gets to guard his fortune.
  2. And once again the ones carrying water for the owner will claim that next year we will spend. We have 40 years of evidence that Jerry is just a cheap owner. Luckily he isnt immortal.
  3. Have you purchased enough bubble wrap to keep Eaton from injuring himself next year.
  4. So we went through a rebuild so JR could turn to his old trusty method of tier 3. Hope Eaton isnt on the 60 day DL by June.
  5. I will lose my shit when he is placed on the 60 day DL some time in June.
  6. Last year we played an unbalanced schedule against our own division and the NL central. Our record against above 500 teams versus below 500 teams doesnt exactly guarentee us a world series shot. There are a few warts here we need to add to before we can take that next step. I don't think we are that far off. But there are holes still to fill. RF? DH? Especially in the bullpen and still a slot in the rotation.
  7. Okay I have to ask the question. For the bargain hunting Sox and a bullpen still to add to. Why didnt they give Wisler a shot. A one year 1.15million dollar deal? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/12/giants-sign-matt-wisler.html
  8. Look at Hahns presser after they let Renteria go and see him talk about his future manager. Then look at what was hired. Do you think he was describing TLR. His statements were made when he was in charge of things. Think about it this way. He has architected a rebuild and just as this is about to take off. Dad comes in and grounds him and takes over.
  9. Take everything Hahn said with a grain of salt. Rick is no longer in charge of the plan. TLR+JR are. If Hahn had his way TLR is not the manager of this team. JR has given TLR 3 years of a contract to make a run. They will do everything in their power to push all chips in. Well by chips we mean prospects and other bargain bin acquisitions. JR will spend. But he will sprinkle it across multiple mediocre pick ups over a big named guy to tip us over the top. Lighting in the bottle was invented here.
  10. If they extend him and he performs like this for the next 3 years, then this was a world class trade. My only concern with the trade is a one and done with him only being here for a year. The 2021 white sox are a much better team with him on there. But I like our shot at getting into the dance multiple years with the group we have.
  11. Most white sox fans consume way too many of these. This is why we lust after former sox players who we forget have aged or even regressed a bit. Its the same reason whenever a coaching spot opens up we get few threads on how this ex white sox player is a perfect fit even though they have never coached or shown a propensity for coaching. I want the best possible pitcher to be aquired. Not just a guy because I can member him in a white sox uniform. Your post is spot on. I like Quintana, I liked him as a whitesox pitcher when he was here. I just have a higher threshold for a team trying to win a world series than old trusty.
  12. And you realize we need what 70% of the population immunized before these lovely restrictions that are causing things like states to lock down to go away right. 2021 will be diminished capacity or no fans to start or a limited season. We are into 2022 before its back to normal. I dont see JR forking up money for future dollars then in 2022. So really 2023 is about the time he is ready to pay for a premier FA again if he does ever.
  13. Great tell me how the budget looks next year at this time when Lynn is gone or signed for a sizeable deal. Plus you have to fill in other holes. We are not a cost controlled element from beating the Dodgers or the elites in the AL. This problem will be here every year we try to make a run. The Lynn deal is great for 2021 and 2021 only.
  14. So the running theory in the other thread due to the food groups twitter is that it was either Dunning+ for Darvish+Heyward or Dunning+ for Lynn. And if thats the case then I am livid. Not because of Dunning, fuck Dunning. But Darvish is a better pitcher and is signed to a longer term deal. Heyward solidifies RF for a few years. In the end if money was selected over a better return then once again we got jobbed.
  15. Well they are handcuffed by a cheap owner who loves his money and thinks he is taking it to the afterlife then. Fucking stupid JR. Darvish over a few years and Heyward in RF would of solidified this for a long time. Darvish >>>>> Lynn.
  16. Ones that want to maximize lots of money and lots of years making lots of money. Thats who.
  17. Typically you can use this thing called cash to get people to play in places they would never dream of playing. If its equal or close sure a choice might be made. But in the end FA dollars matter. So this is not really about FA not wanting to show up here. Its because our ownership thinks that deferred dollars and team options late in your career are more valuable that guaranteed money and years from competing teams. If the Royals pony up the highest amount of money by a good amount Bauer is putting on a Royals uniform and talking about how its a young exciting team and how he has always loved KC.
  18. Lance Lynn in game 2 of a playoff series is a massive win over anyone else on the roster, even Keuchel. So for next year. Massive upgrade. They need to pen him to a multiyear deal. Because if its just for one year then we are back to trading more prospects next offseason to fill the same hole.
  19. Does he want to get paid in today dollars or tomorrow dollars based on incentives.
  20. What is more likely. JR to open the pocket book to get premium free agents here. Or Jerry to part with prospects in a trade no matter how they rank. If you want to trade prospects, fine got get Snell. He would be around for a lot longer than one year. I know it costs more but getting one year of a pitcher for the beginning of a run is not sound logic at best. Don't waste bullets on these moves that fix a hole for a year.
  21. Remember JR will burn the farm system to the ground if he can give up prospects over paying 9 figure FA demands. Dont get too attached to anyone. They are all ready to go. TLR was hired not to win in perpetuity. But to win next year. Now winning next year and spending money, they dont exactly have to be mutually exclusive. I expect deals that might make Kenny W go full staff but might make everyone a bit uncomfortable. I could care less about Dunning. But in the end they are all cattle to Jerry.
