I hope that happens, because Anderson demanding a trade because TLR tells him to take his kneeling act into the clubhouse is another possibility.
-
Lets hire Tommy Lasorda because age doesnt matter.
-
How does any of this sound like a 76 year old man who hasnt managed in over 10 years. If this hire is made, Hahn didnt make it. And when he talks about how this was his guy in the presser, he is trying to keep his job.
-
Ask the Diamondbacks what a few years can do to an organization. When he gets hired he is basically a GM.
-
The only one that this would happen to is named Hahn. TLR is here until he decides to leave. We have taken the Don Cooper pitching coach for life and made it worse. If that was possible.
-
When they purge the farm to go for a one year window.

So we had a GM who spent a few years assembling a long term run. The minute we get to the point of this team being ready to compete for a long time our geriatric owner decides to over rule the GM to hire his bestie who is also geriatric. The bestie will have all sorts of powers and will be for all intensive purposes unfireable. Decisions will be made in the short term that will have massive long term consequences. You might as well have Kenny steering the ship now because the chips are all in now if TLR is on the team. I cant wait for TLR to be making GM level decisions on this team. That should go well. Next up Guaranteed Rate to start peddling reverse mortgages as part of our new identity.

Its so Jerry Reinsdorf to hire a geriatric manager during a pandemic when the number 1 at risk group is geriatrics.

My father was always on his mental game until he got to his late 70s. It started slipping and then in his 80s it just went off the rails. This idea that age is just a number is insane. For every well directed energetic 84 year old there are 100 ones that have a hard time remembering what happened yesterday. We have a young team and we cant be changing managers in 2 more years because Tony gets overwhelmed with the job. In the end we will have to wait for the reaper to take care of this one. This same owner allowed someone to destroy a basketball dynasty. I have zero faith that this gets fixed until he is not involved in this anymore.
-
Dont know if this one makes sense. And his recent championship experience? His managerial experience at all. The time to hire guys who are learning on the job was about 3 years ago.
-
Zaleski makes sense. I would like that. Curt Hasler ( fixed the name spelling ) is basically Don Cooper. They have similar beliefs and is not a move in a different direction.
-
How about another angle here. If Jerry gets his guy you basically neuter Rick Hahn. What if Larussa wants to win today and decides to go to Jerry and go all in and torch everything that was built to win today not for 4 more years. Does Rick have a say? How do you ever fire TLR. How do you resolve any disputes when he can go to Dad and get you overruled. This is a dangerous precedent.

I think we found greg's burner account.
-
Who the hell is fighting for his services. There is no TLR market outside of us.
-
Then that could change personnel decisions. Short term deals for older trusted players, trading younger players for win now impact players. God they could completely destroy this rebuild for one last shot in the pan.
-
What is the gameplan here then. Why use TLR as a smokescreen. There are plenty of other options they could interview to get that process going.

Hahn "So Tony what do you think of Analytics with regards to developing pitchers." Tony "Well if Analytics is what Dave Duncan calls a two seamer, then I believe in lots of analytics. By the way I tripped over some odd thing on the ground in your bullpen. What in tarnation is a RAPSODO. Is it a speaker?" Hahn "So our department of analytics gives you a scouting report.." Tony "Let me stop you there partner, no accountant with a computer is going to tell me more than my gut. That guy never played a game in his life from what I saw of him." Basically TLR will give guys like gregg a reason to go full mast.

Lets take the fan part of out it. What exactly about AJ says he is a good manager. he was a catcher? He played on the white sox? He is on tv? I mean this constant memberberry stuff that sox fans have of bringing back former players is what guys like JR count on. MB is a great pitching coach, why? Because he was a good pitcher. Robin Ventura was one of the best white sox players and most clutch hitters I can remember. He was great defensively and if the game was on the line he was one of the guys I wanted up at the plate. He was a horrible horrible horrible manager. Let me break it down for you great player != great manager Some of the better managers were terrible players.
-
Does it matter. Why is he getting interviewed. Its because there is real interest.
-
Yup
-
If Jerry forces Tony on this. Then I will have to wait for Jerry's eventual departure for the heavenly express before we have any serious changes. Similar to what happened with the blackhawks.
-
How long do you think the white sox window is. He is 76. Check the obits and see how many of people in their late 70s and early 80s are waking up in the morning and not with us later in the day. Its not a question on mental faculties. Its the fact that human beings have an expiration date.
-
You would be warm to Hawk Harrelson being the manager as well. AJ the hitting coach, and Ozzie as the GM.
-
the other side of this from an age perpective. This team is about to go on an extended run. So hiring a 76 year old. What is his longevity here. Do we see him at 80 managing the team.
